[PP] State of Affairs

Greetings, Peoplers!

We’re about halfway through this term and I think it’s going pretty well, all things considered. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening this term:

1. WTP is back in Congress! The Mike was able to hold down the fort for us last month after sneaking on to the BSP ticket. With a great ticket, we should be well-represented this month in the issues that matter to you.

2. “Caption DMJ’s Baby” actually happened! It’s still happening, as a matter of fact! So head on over to the forum and provide a caption for pictures of my adorable baby to win tanks.

3. The leadership has been working hard to keep the party running as usual in addition to working on new ideas.

At this point, I’d like to officially announce the results of our recent referendum. While it’s not public knowledge per se, I’m sure there are rumblings about the possible merger between the Liberty Advancement Party and We The People. After a discussion on the forum about the idea, we brought it to a referendum, and with over 97% of participants voting Yes, the referendum is approved; LAP will be welcomed into the fold.

A couple of items of housekeeping as we go into the move... As I mentioned, the party’s name will remain as “We The People.” Similar to a common practice in RL business mergers, we will be adopting the LAP logo and ultimately redoing some of our art to match. I also said that all our programs, such as FTW and the amazingly fun and popular “Caption DMJ’s Baby,” will remain fully operational. Our hope is to expand these programs even more to help more people, so please spread the word. In the coming weeks, we’ll likely have more information about programs that LAP has been running which will be integrated into WTP’s new structure.

Some of LAP’s leadership will be joining the WTP leadership as well, so please welcome them and the rest of the members as friends into our home.

Thanks for all that you do, Peoplers! It’s an honor to call myself your party president.

WTP is back in Congress!

After a month with scarcely a member in Congress (save for TheMike in The Black Sheep Party), WeThePeople are glad to be back, representing the interests of one of the top parties in our nation!

Let’s take a moment to congratulate those on our party’s Congressional ballot this month:

Member spotlight

This edition of WeRepublik marks the beginning of a new spotlight series in which we will explore the different departments within our party’s meta-structure and highlight some of our party’s most outstanding members.

Today, we would like to take a moment to recognize one of the oldest and most helpful members of WTP: Mike Ontry! Known widely for his awesome tech skills and commitment to serving the eUSA community, Mike is a perfect candidate for WTP’s spotlight this week.

I recently sat down with Mike Ontry for a quick interview about his most recent position in WTP leadership as tech director:

Tanishq: So, let me start out by asking how long you've been a member of WTP, and when you started "tech-ing" for eRep.

Mike Ontry: I've been a member of WTP since November 2012. I joined when John Jay (Leather Neck), the PP at the time, invited me to do recruitment. I started to do tech stuff for eRep when I made and released my first tool on day 1,350.

Tanishq: What, exactly, do you do as tech director of WTP?

Mike Ontry: I stay available in case something with a program malfunctions; then, I fix it. I also stay ready to create any tools that the party may need or modify existing tools to help out the party with efficiency.

Tanishq: How long does it typically take to develop a new tool?

Mike Ontry: Developing a tool from scratch can take anywhere from 4-12 hours. I don't do it all at one time. I try to get a project done within 2-4 days, but, depending on what the project is, it may take longer. Modifying or fixing a tool takes about 2 hours (or way less).

Tanishq: Coffee or soda? 🙂

Mike Ontry: Coffee.

Thanks to Mike Ontry for humoring me with an interview (and for being the great person he is!).

Poor Ioanys

Friends, it is with heavy hearts that I bring you grave news: our dear friend and up-and-coming party member Ioanys may be on the road to Citizen Death. After a healthy amount of posting in the first week of April, Ioanys was noticed to be missing. A search party was organized by longtime member Hale26, and they scoured the whole World Wide Web for signs of our missing compatriot. Unfortunately, the Ioanys we knew was found to be no more; listless and exhibiting no signs of life, he appeared to be just moments from death. Indeed, when party president dmjohnston called upon his EMT training to carefully analyze Ioanys’s vitals, our suspicions were confirmed. At the current rate, Ioanys can be expected to die quietly in a little over two week’s time.

We The People ask that you could keep Ioanys in your thoughts and prayers in the hope that he might return to activity and join us in our daily clicks.
