[vCP] An open letter to the eDutch and eBelgian people

Greetings eDutch and eBelgian citizens,

In the past days, some interesting developments have occured in the war that has been called the war of Dutch aggression, the war of the Beers, the war of blablabla we’re the best, the war of Bluffing and so on, and so on...

Where we, the Dutch, were at the upperhand in the beginning of this war (whiping the Belgian regions twice), the Belgians took control of Southern and Western Netherlands. Our southern neighbours, that are known and proud of their neutrality, took great joy in “punishing” us and I congratulate them with their victories.

The reason why I congratulate them is simple: when our president Auggustus took war to the Low Countries, it was all about fun. For too long, the eDutch community had been talking about declaring war to eBelgium and finally, they would get this chance. However, for a war to be fun, both countries should feel that fun every now and then.

There are five things I would like to state on behalf of myself, my president and my country. I want to say this to my fellow eDutch countrymen (and women) as well as to our eBelgian folks in the south.

1. The Gold-issue
Not even a week before the starting of the war, the eBelgians donated 391 Gold to us. This gold had been stolen from our treasury a few days before that and it had been given to the eBelgian treasury. In other words: the eBelgians donated 391 Gold that did not belong to them. We were thankful and happy because they did the right thing.
Now, after several people have made propaganda about it, a lot of the eDutch and eBelgians started yelling: ‘That’s not fair! We/they gave back that gold and this is how we/you thank them/us?!’
Of course, I and the government with me understand that it feels rather unfair. But look at it this way: if the Belgians had not sent back the money, we would have attacked them eitherway, only harder and with a reason. We are glad that we don’t have a real reason and we can just say: ‘Yo, bro, let’s attack!’

2. MPP’s and the loss of our regions
In the past days, the Belgians have become proud of the fact that they were able to take two of our regions. They have the right to be proud, but there should be some nuance in their victorious feelings.
The eBelgian congress have had a 24/7 task signing all the MPP’s they signed in the past few days. Thanks to those MPP’s and thanks to the (very tactful!) precision with which they chose the time of their attacks (usually at midnight, when the world is awake but the Dutch are taking a well-deserved nap), the Belgians were successful in retaking their own and taking the Dutch regions. This success comes for 90% from their MPP’s.

The loss of our regions is not a bad thing. In a war, it is inevitable to loose some battles and thus some regions. This loss also has a tactical reason: giving the Belgians some hope in this war makes it more fun. Also: our people are more motivated to fight. The more motivation there is, the more fun!

eDutch citizens: don’t fear the Belgian threat. Your Ministry of Defense and the Presidential Staff is highly motivated and busy with managing this war. In the end, the Dutch regions will be taken back just as the Belgian regions were. After that, the war will be brought back to the Belgian borders.

3. Congress
An important issue about this war are the respective congresses of our countries. A country that has no regions can’t have a congress and not having a congress is one of the biggest fears of every country. Since this war is all about fun and not about conquering and teasing eachother, I suggest we agree on something like the following:

- Both countries agree that on the 24th of March, both the Dutch as Belgian Party Presidents will have the opportunity to set congress members as electable. On the 25th of March, both countries will have Congress Elections.

4. Ending the war
The Belgian president has stated the next four terms for putting an end to the war:

1. An end to hostilities
2. eNL recaptures its home territories through RW’s unopposed by eBelgium
3. An in-game peace treaty
4. A formal peace treaty ending the conflict

These terms seem logical and reasonable, but it is not what this war is about. These terms clearly are set up in the idea that Belgium is at the upperhand. On this moment, that is true, but within a few days, the Belgian borders might be crossed by Dutch forces again. The future is unclear about that.
The Belgians want peace and we understand that. But why not enjoy this for a little longer? After all...

5. What this war has brought us
...this war has brought a lot of good things to us.

1. More MPP’s for eBelgium. That’s not a bad thing, right?
2. More new players on both of our sides. That’s not a bad thing, for sure!
3. More reason for inactive people on both of our sides to become active. That’s not a bad thing (as long as they’re nice people)!
4. A reason to be proud of your country. That’s not a bad thing!
5. We got to know eachother. Is that a bad thing? I’m not sure yet...

Let’s enjoy this war, let’s enjoy eachother. Let’s enjoy the game.

Beste eNederlandse en eBelgische burgers,

In de afgelopen dagen hebben interessante ontwikkelingen zich voltroken in de oorlog die de Oorlog van Nederlandse aggressie, the Oorlog der Bieren, de Oorlog van blablabla wij zijn de besten, de Oorlog van Grootspraak en ik weet niet wat nog meer genoemd is...

Waar wij, de Nederlanders, de bovenhand hadden aan het begin van deze oorlog (met twee maal een wegvaging van de Belgische regio’s), hebben de Belgen nu de controle gekregen over Zuid- en West-Nederland. Onze zuiderburen, die bekend staan om en trots zijn op hun neutraliteit, genieten erg van het “afstraffen” van ons en ik feliciteer ze met hun overwinningen.

De reden dat ik hen feliciteer is simpel: toen onze president Auggustus oorlog naar de Lage Landen bracht, ging het enkel om het plezier. Voor veel te lang heeft de eNederlandse gemeenschap gepraat over een oorlogsverklaring aan België en eindelijk zouden ze deze kans krijgen. Echter, wil een oorlog leuk zijn, dan moeten beide landen zo nu en dan dat plezier kunnen beleven.

Er zijn vijf dingen die ik zou willen stellen namens mijzelf, namens mijn president en namens mijn land. Ik wil dit zeggen tegen mijn medelanders, maar ook tegen onze Belgische makkers in het zuiden.

1. De goud-zaak
Nog geen week voor het begin van de oorlog doneerden de Belgen 391 Goud aan ons. Dit goud was gestolen uit onze schatkist enkele dagen daarvoor en het was doorgesluisd aan de eBelgische schatkist. Met andere woorden: de eBelgen doneerden 391 Goud dat hun niet toebehoorde. We waren hen dankbaar en waren blij omdat ze het juiste gedaan hebben.
Nu, nadat meerdere personen er propaganda over hebben gemaakt, beginnen eNederlanders en eBelgen te roepen: ‘Dat is niet eerlijk! Wij/zij gaven dat goud terug en dit is hoe we/jullie hen/ons bedanken?!’
Natuurlijk begrijpen ik en de regering met mij dat het behoorlijk oneerlijk klinkt. Maar kijk er als volgt naar: als de Belgen het geld niet terug hadden gezonden, hadden we hen niettemin aangevallen, slechts harder en met een reden. Wij zijn blij dat we geen echte reden hebben en we dus gewoon kunnen zeggen: ‘Yo, bro, potje robben?’

2. MPP’s en het verlies van onze regio’s
In de afgelopen dagen zijn de Belgen er trots op geworden dat ze in staat bleken twee van onze regio’s in te nemen. Ze hebben het recht trots te zijn, maar er moeten nuances gemaakt worden bij hun victorieuze gevoelens.
Het Belgische congres heeft er een dagtaak aan gehad om alle MPP’s te tekenen die ze in de afgelopen dagen hebben afgesloten. Dankzij die MPP’s en dankzij de (zeer tactische!) precisie waarmee ze de tijden van hun aanvallen planden (meestal rond middernacht, als de wereld wakker is maar de Nederlanders een welverdiende nachtrust genieten) wisten de Belgen er succesvol in te zijn hun eigen en twee Nederlandse regio’s te winnen. Dit succes komt voor 90% van hun bondgenoten.

Het verlies van onze regio’s is niet iets slechts. In een oorlog is het onvermijdelijk enkele gevechten te verliezen en daarmee ook enkele regio’s. Dit verlies heeft ook een tactische reden: door de Belgen wat hoop te geven wordt deze oorlog leuker. Daarbij: ons volk is nu weer “gehermotiveerd” om te vechten. Hoe meer motivatie er is, des te leuker alles is!

eNederlanders: vrees de Belgische dreiging niet. Jullie Ministerie van Defensie en het Presidentiële Ministerie is druk bezig en zeer gemotiveerd deze oorlog te regelen. Uiteindelijk zullen de Nederlandse regio’s herwonnen worden zoals ook de Belgische regio’s heroverd werden. Daarna zal de oorlog teruggebracht worden naar de Belgische grenzen.

3. Congress
Een belangrijk thema in deze oorlog zijn de respectievelijke parlementen van onze landen. Een land zonder regio’s kan geen congres hebben en het niet hebben van een congres is één van de grootste angsten van ieder land. Aangezien deze oorlog om het plezier draait en niet om het veroveren en plagen van de ander, stel ik voor dat we het eens worden over iets zoals het volgende:

- Beide landen stemmen ermee in dat op de 24ste maart zowel de Nederlandse als de Belgische Partijleiders de mogelijkheid hebben congresleden als verkiesbaar in te stellen. Op de 25ste maart zullen beide landen congresverkiezingen houden.

4. De oorlog beëindigen
De Belgische president heeft de volgende vier criteria opgesteld voor het beëindigen van de oorlog:

1. Een eind aan de vijandigheden
2. eNederland heroverd haar thuislanden door RW’s die niet bevochten worden door eBelgië
3. Een in-game vredesverdrag
4. Een formeel vredesverdrag waarmee het conflict tot een eind gebracht wordt

Deze voorwaarden lijken logisch en redelijk, maar het slaat de plank volledig mis in deze oorlog. Deze voorwaarden zijn duidelijk opgesteld vanuit het idee dat België de bovenhand heeft. Op dit moment is dat waar, maar binnen een paar dagen zouden de Belgische grenzen opnieuw doorkruist kunnen worden door Nederlandse troepen. De toekomst is vaag daarover.
De Belgen willen vrede en wij begrijpen dat. Maar waarom zouden we niet nog iets langer hiervan genieten? Ten slotte...

5. Wat deze oorlog ons gegeven heeft
...heeft deze oorlog ons veel goeds gebracht.

1. Meer bondgenoten voor België. Dat is niet verkeerd, toch?
2. Meer nieuwe spelers aan beide zijden. Dat is zeker niet verkeerd!
3. Meer reden voor inactieve spelers aan beide zijden om actief te worden. Dat is niet verkeerd (zolang het leuke mensen zijn)!
4. Een reden om trots te zijn op je land. Dat is niet verkeerd!
5. We hebben elkaar leren kennen. Is dat verkeerd? Daar ben ik nog niet uit...

Laten we van deze oorlog genieten, laten we van elkaar genieten. Laten we genieten van het spel.
