[RN] Take to the skies with the Royal Navy

Day 3,410, 05:57 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Royal Navy

If you're a member of the Royal Navy, stand easy sailor.

If you're not (currently) in the Royal Navy, welcome! I hope you find something here to interest you 🙂

I am delighted to announce that, as of right now, the Royal Navy is launching the Fleet Air Arm.

We’re now encouraging anyone from the Royal Navy who wants to concentrate on doing air damage to join the new regiment. And if you’re not in the Royal Navy, don’t feel left out - we’ll welcome you too! So read on to find out more...

This sounds exciting! Er … what is it?
The Fleet Air Arm is a regiment within the Royal Navy MU that’s dedicated to fighting in air battles. Members of the regiment will be concentrating their efforts doing air damage rather than ground damage.

Regiment 5 will be captained by Rohirrin, and experienced RN Captain who has moved across from Regiment 1. He’ll be looking after our air recruits and - wherever possible - setting the Regiment 5 Daily Order to UK or allied air battles.

(Game mechanics mean that we can’t appoint Rohirrin as Captain until the regiment has 20 members. So until then, he won’t be able to set regiment-specific daily orders.)

Fair enough, but why should I join?
First of all, check out our Fleet Air Arm Introduction to Air Battles if you haven’t already done so. It explains why - in our opinion - lower level and new players should concentrate on air battles.

Read that? Right, let’s continue.

If we’re advising Division 1 (and some Division 2) players to concentrate on air battles, it makes sense for us to take that one step further and provide a decent platform from which they can fight and learn. By setting up a dedicated air regiment that’s exactly what we’re hoping to do. By joining the Fleet Air Arm you’ll be joining a group of like-minded people, supported by the eUK’s biggest MU, with the aim of turning you all into double-hard, battle-scarred monsters of the skies.

Also, air battles are now a significant part of every war - they contribute a minimum of 44 out of the 94 campaign points needed to win. So we’re taking our responsibility as the eUK’s leading MU seriously by developing a fighting force dedicated to winning those air battles.

Cool, but what’s in it for me?
Traditionally sailors in the RN receive rewards for ranking up (standard ground ranks) and taking part in our weekly Strike Sunday. Those rewards are mostly tank-based, and therefore of more use to people fighting in ground wars.

Things will be different for members of the Fleet Air Arm.

As a member of Regiment 5 you will NOT be eligible for the standard RN rank-up rewards and Strike Sunday packs. Instead, we’ve designed a new reward package specifically for you. As a member of the Fleet Air Arm you will be entitled to the following...

Rank up rewards
Rank up rewards start when you get to Staff Sergeant (sorry - before that it’s too quick and easy to rank up). From that point on you get 500 Q5 food for every main rank, and 250 Q5 food for every * rank in between.

Simply post on the RN feed every time you go up an air rank and I’ll send you the food.

Strike Sunday pack
Every time you take part in Strike Sunday you will receive 500 Q5 food. Simple as that.

Fleet Air Arm strike kits will be handed out after the Strike has finished - probably on the Monday morning. You won’t need to claim them - I’ll see who has taken part from Regiment 5 and send the kits out automatically. But don't try to get a standard pack from Evil Doctor as well - if you do I'll spot it in the chatroom and you'll be in trouble 😛

Excellent! I’m sold. How do I sign up?
Welcome aboard 🙂

If you’re already in the Royal Navy, simply send me a PM or post on the RN feed and I’ll move you into Regiment 5 - the Fleet Air Arm.

If you’re not in the Royal Navy but like the sound of all this, feel free to join us! Once you’ve joined do the same as above - send me a PM or post on the feed and I’ll move you.

Once the regiment hits 20 members Rohirrin will become Captain and start setting air battle DOs wherever possible.

Signing off
That should just about cover everything. However, if you have any questions feel free to send them over to me and I’ll do what I can to help you out.

Also, please be aware that - for the moment - we’re running this as a trial. Obviously this is all very new, so we’re testing it out to see how well it works, as well as guessing at the levels for the rewards etc. At the end of the trial (end of April) we’ll update you on how it went.

Still not very good at doing air damage - probably should join the Fleet Air Arm myself

What MU are you in? Really? Well it’s the wrong one. You should join the Royal Navy instead.
