[MOO] Homer for CP!!! (Day 1962)

Day 1,962, 14:37 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

FORWARD

My publishing prowess has dwindled quite a bit this past year, getting through the party platform has taken much longer than anticipated. The intention is to have MOO select the CP candidate best aligned with the party platform.

Who was considered...

The people who declared their candidacy in a manner noticed by the party were Homer J Simpson, aeriala, Punisher 1389, and Yano Chichelin. This is all based on their articles which you may have noticed yourselves.

How were they evaluated...

Each citizen's candidacy for CP was evaluated based on their character and platform alignment with the MOO party platform. For your reference:

Character platform:
Opportunity #1: Don't be a dick.
Opportunity #2: Pay It Foward
Opportunity #3: Forgive and Forget
Opportunity #4: Act With Integrity

Game platform:
Opportunity #5: Be A Good Ally
Opportunity #6: Relentlessly Pursue Self-Sufficiency
Opportunity #7: Know Your Stuff
Opportunity #8: Government's Role Is To Provide A Competitive Advantage

On Homer J Simpson's candidacy...

Homer is not a dick, check.

Homer paid it forward. He paid a cost in personal investment way beyond any personal benefit when he orchestrated the delivery of a congress to eCan this month, check.

I do not know if Homer is a forgive and forget type of guy. I am not aware of any grudges he has, check.

Homer acts with integrity. His actions all term have been consistent with his words. His plans are patriotic and honest, check.

Homer's referendum on Asgard showed a lot of alliance building and consensus building with the nation. He could have done a lot less and still got full membership into Asgard, but under his leadership, he led eCan into Asgard with a national mandate to do so, check.

I do not see Homer relentlessly pursuing self-sufficiency albeit he does have his hands full. The supply and donation programs may be nice but they are one-offs and do not set up citizens for an elifetime, fail.

Homer knows his stuff. He was all over the game mechanics surrounding when to launch the RW and NE of Spain and did everything within his sphere of influence to make sure eCan's effort did not fail on a technicality, check.

Homer demonstrated that a small nation can scratch out a congress for itself with focus and co-ordination. This could be a competitive advantage in this game and a reason for players to join eCan. Homer does not market himself as such, but this strength is worth exploring, check.

Homer scores 7 of 8. As the incumbent coming off a successful term, he definitely is the candidate to beat.

On aeriala's candidacy...

aeriala has a colourful history speckled with many interactions that have earned him enemies. He also pressed into a CP run less than a week after getting eCan citizenship citing that we all had it wrong and that he knew how to fix it. Don't be a dick. Fail.

aeriala is capable of paying it forward, I've seen him invest a lot of himself in things with little expectation of return. One could argue his motivations, but it is abundantly clear that aeriala has the personal energy and resources to pay it forward, check.

aeriala has not forgiven and he definitely hasn't forgotten. He brings up past transgressions of others on a regular basis and gets markedly emotional about it. Fail.

Two fails sink aeriala's chances as he can't catch Homer's score of seven.

On Punisher 1389's candidacy...

Punisher is not a dick, check.

I am not aware of Punisher paying it forward, but I don't believe he is a "pay it back" guy either. Push.

I do not know if Punisher is a forgive and forget type of guy. I am not aware of any grudges he has, check.

Punisher has many terms in congress which speak to a level of integrity and his platform from last month was solid. His platform this month was weaker, relying on fap material and very little text. I'm sensing some campaign burnout, and this couldn't threaten one's integrity. Close call, but check.

Punisher is pro-Asgard and values the importance of relationship with allies. Check.

Punisher is not an advocate of self-sufficiency. His community goal of bilingualism is honourable however this does not align with the party platform. Fail.

With a push and a fail, Punisher cannot catch Homer.

On Yano Chichelin's candidacy...

Yano is not a dick, check. I took his campaign article as a joke, not a troll.

I am not aware of Yano paying it forward, but I don't believe he is a "pay it back" guy either. Push.

I do not know if Yano is a forgive and forget type of guy. I am not aware of any grudges he has, check.

Yano's campaign article lacks integrity. It appears to be in jest to me. Fail.

A push and a fail eliminate Yano, he can't catch Homer.

SHAMELESS PLUG, SON

It is interesting to have a character platform and a policy platform, candidates can get eliminated based on character, and if you end up with two or more candidates with character, focus can be placed on the policy debate.

Congrats to Homer on earning the support of MOO, Homer is truly a candidate with character and a plan.
