Bè noi italiani non abbiamo un substrato culturale così ampio, soprattutto se non consideriamo coloro che sono immigrati nel nostro paese negli anni ’90 e che ora sono italiani in tutto e per tutto.
Ma la nostra patria fu la casa di molte antiche popolazioni specialmente prima della fondazione di Roma nel 753 a.c.





Come potete vedere, prima di Roma, l’Italia era piena zeppa di altre popolazioni e i Romani dovettero scontrarsi con esse allo scopo di ottenere più terre e allargare il loro dominio.
Spesso siamo portati a pensare che per Roma fu sempre tutto facile, ma non è così, popolazioni come quella dei Sanniti sconfissero i Romani più di una volta, humiliandoli addirittura facendoli passare sotto le famose Forche Caudine.





Un’altra famosissima popolazione pre-romana era quella degli Etruschi, che combatterono a lungo contro I Romani per poter rimanere liberi e persero infine con la grande battaglia di Veio.





Ma l’Italia dopo esser diventata completamente dominio romano, fu invasa svariate volte.
I primi ad invadere l’Italia furono i Cartaginesi (provenienti da Cartagine, antica città situata nell’odierna Tunisia) con Annibale il famoso generale he passò le Alpi (come sostengono in molti) con parecchi, PARECCHI, elefanti del Nord Africa, passando per Spagna e Francia, egli sconfisse i Romani sul suolo italiano e rimase nel nostro territorio per almeno 10 anni.





Secoli dopo questa invasione, l’Italia venne nuovamente invasa da molte popolazioni barbariche come gli Unni, i Vandali, i Goti, gli Ostrogoti, i Visigoti e i Longobardi.





Durante il medioevo, il Sud della penisola italiana, specialmente la Sicilia, divenne dapprima territorio Saraceno e poi territorio Normanno, perciò oggi non è inusuale trovare in sicilia persone con capelli e occhi chiari.








Perciò come potete vedere noi siamo il risultato di queste mescolanze, certo, ognuno di noi si sente e si vede più romano, barbarico, africano o Normanno. Ma ciò che conta davvero è che ognuno di questi popoli si è innamorato di questa terra, perciò noi siamo: ITALIANI 






Italians, sons of our ancestors

If you want to enjoy some Italian music: SONS OF HANNIBAL

Well, we Italians haven’t a so large multicultural substrate in our country, if we do not consider immigrants from the ‘90s who are now Italians in all.

But our land has been a home for a lot of ancient populations especially before the foundation of Rome in 753 B.C.





As you can see, before Rome, Italy was full of other populations and the first Romans had to struggle with them in order to gain land and enlarge their dominions.

We are usually tempted to think that to Rome everything had always been easy but it’s not like that, populations like “Sanniti” defeated the Romans more than one time, humiliating them, making them pass under some little low wooden gates called “Caudine Forks”.





Another very famous pre-roman population is Etruscans, who fought for long time, in order to remain free, against the Romans and lost definitively in the battle of “Veio”.





But Italy, after had become Rome’s territory, was invaded many times.

The first to invade Italy were the Cartages (from Cartago a city located in modern Tunisia) with Hannibal who passed the Alps with (as someone says) with many, MANY, elephants from North Africa, passing by Spain and France, he defeated the Romans in Italy and stayed in our territory for ten years more or less.





Centuries after this Italy was invaded again by a lot of barbarian populations like Huns, Vandals, Goths , Ostrogoths, Visigots and Lombards.





In the medieval period the South of our peninsula, especially Sicily, became at first Saracen’s (from North Africa, Arabia and Turkey) territory and then Normans from Denmark, so it’s not unusual to see some Sicilian friend with blonde hair and clear eyes.








So we are the result of this historic melting pot, everyone feels to be more Roman, Barbaric, African or Norman. But what really counts is that everyone of this people loved our country, so we are: ITALIANS 
