[MoE] Guerrilla Fights Guide

Hello eIreland,
Guerrilla fighting is a war module addition that was integrated into eRepublik on day 1947 (March 20, 2013). The guerrilla fight feature allows for player vs. player real time interaction during battles.
Advantages
The degree to which guerrilla fights can affect your ultimate contribution to a battle has yet to be seen (drop me a line if you have a view on this).
This feature may allow you to lose less health while dealing more damage.
Guerrilla Fights rank players to assign them with bonus damage which counts towards calculating your total influence. The player who is weaker (or both players if they are roughly equal) will always have a Bonus Damage equal to 1.
The damage added to the influence bar is cumulated with the damage dealt prior to the Guerrilla Fight. It also counts for Achievements like Battle Hero, Campaign Hero or True Patriot.
The winner of a fight receives equipment which can be used to win future guerilla fights.
This feature allows you to face off against other real players one on one, and involves more strategy than regular fights. Your wins and losses will be tracked.
Basics
Before you can access the guerrilla fight feature, you must defeat five opponents in the current battle.
If you're ready to enter a fight, you should first equip any items you'd like to use in your fight, and second defeat five opponents so that the button will appear in the bottom right of you screen. These first two steps are illustrated below:
If one side involved in the battle has more than 1400 Domination Points the fight will not start (because there may not be enough time to finish it).
You will fight against an enemy player with the closest attributes to yours, if there is at least one available. If there are no enemy players looking to join a Guerrilla Fight at a given moment, you will have to wait until an opponent becomes available.
The Guerrilla Fight will be available only in direct battles, not in the Resistance Wars.
Fighting
Fighting is turn based so that each turn you will be able to choose one action:
Fire - shoot with the equipped weapon
Move - get closer or farther away from your opponent by a default value of 200m (which will be changed by some equiptment)
Dodge - lowers the opponent’s hit chance and throws a grenade if you have one
Reload - when you run out of ammo the fire button will turn into reload
Change Weapon - opens the weapon list allowing you to choose a different fire arm that may be better at your current range
The actual damage inflicted in the Guerrilla Fight is the sum of the the Bonus Damage and the Weapon Damage.
Weapons - Each firearm has an ideal range from which it has a maximum chance of hitting a target. The closer you are to the ideal range of your current weapon the more accurate you will be when it comes to your chance of hitting your enemy.
Grenades - When you choose to dodge as your action during a turn you will effectively lower the accuracy of your opponent to reduce the chance of being hit. At the same time, if you have any available, you will throw a grenade. Grenades are 100% accurate but subtract less health from your opponent than firearms.
Health/Armour - Both players enter the fight with a maximum of 100 Energy. Before you lose any energy (health) you can receive an amount of damage equal to the rating of the armour you are wearing. The energy that is used in a Guerrilla Fight is removed from the total energy, and the energy that is not lost in the geurrilla fight is returned to total energy. Which ever soldier's energy reaches zero is the loser of the fight. Although Armour will protect you, it will also reduce how far you can move backwards or forwards in a turn (agility).
Attributes and Equipment
All Guerrilla Fight items have attributes that directly influence the player's attributes. The equipment for Guerrilla Fights cannot be manufactured. It can be bought from the inventory page or received when winning fights.
Bonus Damage - At each fight, your Strength and Military rank are weighted against the opponent’s Strength and Military rank to determine your “Bonus Damage”. The stronger player will have a larger Bonus Damage, depending on how much stronger he/she is.
Weapons - There are four classes of primary weapons: Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, and Snipers. Each class of weapons is effective at a certain distance (ex: pistols are effective at 100m, while snipers are best used from 700m). The weapons don’t have a durability, but they must be replaced when their ammo and clips (magazines) run out.
Armour - Wearing armor allows you to withstand more damage, but the extra weight will slow you down. Armor items have a durability, which indicates the number of fights they can be used in.

It says you can "change weapon" during a fight. I do not see that button on the interface screen. How would one change weapons during the battle?
If you hover over your current weapon on the bottom right you can click on it to change weapons. I'm not sure if this can only be done if you're out of ammo? You'll also need to have secondaries chosen in your inventory (those blocks underneath the rest of it) so that you have something to change to.
Anyone interested can see a video of someone using this feature here:

Also note that its really buggy on mobiles
Great article Ian I love this new module
I looked at it for the first time while I was writing this, and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised.
Me too, it's cheap to play & really enjoyable.
Ofcourse Im a little skeptial about the "Coming Soon" features.
Coming soon is just higher level (and more expensive) weapons and armor
It'll be interesting to see how this effects the impact that gold buyers have on battles.
Yes Bhane it's the costs of those that Im skepital about
I've tried the guerrilla fights a few times. I have yet to actually have a match, though. The server never seems to find a partner. I let it scan for 5-10 minutes and finally give up.
I fought last night and won. The bonus allocated was 400k the exact equivalent of 20FF.
I used about 9 FF in the GF.
Not sure about the cost of the equipment I used up but the damage done definitely works out cheaper than a rocket
Good article bro
I have a 100% record so far. Lost both fights! The first one I ended up fighting without equipping so I had no armour and just the crappy default pistol. The second one I faced a GoW who had a +7 advantage over me, even though I was equipped this time. It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be so I'll probably do it regularly for now. Another excellent article.
Yay, just killed my first Chilean!
Excellent article. Must get round to trying this
v cool article
I've won 2 out of 3. Snipers are overrated; semi-automatic followed by shotgun while they're pissing around with snipers and pistols.
I have a question! I lost 60 health in a Guerrilla fight in my last battle (and won) - is there a cut off point in health loss where you'd do more damage in regular fights than in Guerilla fights depending on if you win/how much damage you inflict?
Good question, I haven't found the formulas for Guerrilla Fights yet so I'm not sure how they stack. Someone smarter than me will have it figured out though I'm sure.
So what's the overall consensus?
Is it cheaper per damage?
More rank/xp per food fight?
A waist of time and money?
No formulas, but I think that after a fight, the damage you created in the 5 defeat enemies previously is added again to your influence - if you win, there is a bonus influence.
If that is correct, providing you do not use more health in the GF than you did in gaining the 5 kills to qualify for the GF fight (i.e. you aren't using health for bazookas) you'd be doubling your influence + extra if you win.
However, if you lose, the enemy will have added more damage for the last 5 kills than you. So either someone who has a weaker influence per hit will be given a chance to compete with a stronger influence per hit player, or the gap will be larger.
Obviously, I plan to win and lose a GF to see. But If I'm correct, it is safer not to GF - although winner takes all in GF.

Voted and thanks.
Great article Ian, kudos
Doesn't seem to work for me now.
Everytime I go into a battle it starts the scanning before I click it but never finds anyone
