[MoE] Formation of the Swiss Confederation
Swiss Dep. of Education
Dear Swiss Citizens,
Once a man becomes a king, he's set apart from all other man, Bonaparte said. "I always thought that Alexander the Great's idea of pretending to be descended from a god, was inspired by a sure instinct to real politics." - he added.
But is it so?
Today we present you the roots of the Republic and the formation of the Swiss Confederation.
Old Swiss Confederation has it's roots back around the 1300', it worked with elements of direct democracy based on greek model.
But in 1789, Europe will change forever. The French parliament is recalled after much over 100 years of inactivity, to vote bigger taxes. Despite the king's intentions, the parliament is against him. Things are driven to chaos, on the 14th of July 1789 a mob takes control of Bastille Prison - Absolutism came to an end.
But the worst is yet to come, in 1793 France puts it's own king on trial - Louis the XVIth and his wife are marched to the guillotine. "There's no turning back" - claims Robespierre.
Many revolutionary wars happened on Swiss territory, ending with the battle of Zurich in 1799, and Napoleon's order in 1803 - the foundation of the Napoleonic Swiss Confederation.
Modern Swiss fas founded after 1848, during the massive European Revolutions.
1789, 1804 and 1848 are years in which Europe told "Yes, we will not go quiet in the night, we will not vanish without a fight" (Independence Day movie)
😃- Europe fought for the Republic.
Note : Before the XIXth century the world was dominated by absolute and constitutional monarchies, today it's dominated by republics that apply same principles as monarchies - debate it
😉
Best Regards,
Minister of Education

Yea, I've always seen kings(or any other monarch figure for that matter) as a douche with a funky hat. And most of these guys and gals had an ego the size of a giant fricking space station, which just made them even more disappointing as alleged top-representatives of the human race.
Gee, just remembered nowadays' world leaders are even worse. Meh. Imma go watch some lolcats, it's Caturday after all.
Looking back into history monarchs were a big problem, looking now, today's society is even more absolutist 😃
A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "but I was told by others to do thus" or that, "virtue was not convenient at the time". That will not suffice.
Obviously correct. But from ancient times society can't self-lead itself - until now there have been discovered 2 major ways to lead (with their variants and roots, won't go in details) - the first is by a group of people, marrying between themselves, and keeping all power for themselves (kind of a small mafia), and a more modern one, trough some obscure organisations (to call them so) - who have access to the ropes that lead the society. Now, the 2nd appeared as a response to the abuses of the 1st, but as Henri Poincare told about thermodynamics : "All systems increase their entropy, until a very far moment in which in suddenly comes back to the initial state" - The fall of monarchy was very brutal, at least at the beginning (many wars, rebellions, etc). But now, in today's society, the problem is that the system corrupted itself. Any organisation, although if in the start it has idealistic/naive/good thoughts, in time and trough power it corrupts itself (same as it happened to all Empires : Roman Empire, Charlemagne, Tsarist Russia, British Empire, Ottoman, etc). When an Empire's need grows exponentially and it's income grows only linear - there's a big problem. War, greed, and corruption, consume more money that power can generate (it's was happens today to a big Empire, I guess you can name it 😃 ).
what happens today*
