[Know Your Candidates] May 2013

Day 1,992, 18:22 Published in Ireland Ireland by Ian E CoIeman

May 4, 2013

On the 5th of every month the nations of the New World begin the process of electing a new leader for their country. This is by far the most important election of the month, and the outcome of this day will determine our fate for the month to come.

Let your vote be an exercise of individual choice, a reflection of your loyalty to eIreland, and a result of the careful application of independent thought.

In an attempt to better inform the voting population, I'd like to provide some essential information about this month’s elections.

Campaign Articles
It's a good idea to read the campaign articles of each candidate before voting. Campaign articles most often detail the intentions and goals of a candidate, as well as their planned cabinet.

Note: The Country President's Cabinet refers to a team of people who will be aiding the Country President in his/her duties. Important examples are the Minister(s) of Defence, Minister(s) of Foreign Affairs, and Minister(s) of Finance. For examples of past cabinets, look here. For a better idea of how Irish government is set up, look here.

I offered each candidate the opportunity to respond to some questions about their candidacy that I thought would shed some light on these elections. All answers to those questions provided to me by the candidates can be found below.

Why are you choosing to run this month and what do you hope to accomplish in these elections?
Adriano: As I said in my article "... like every other person who runs for presidency I believe that I can change Ireland. I believe that I have what it takes to get us back up after we have been knocked down. And I also believe that together not only can we take back Ireland, but that we can lead Ireland into a new age!"

EliteC: I'm running to build a stronger Ireland . I have outlined a five point plan that will give Ireland stability and a stronger foundation as we move forward.

Damhnaic: I have chosen to run this month because I have come to realise the degradation of the eIrish community and fear it. Furthermore, I've mainly been an observer in the last months of struggles we had both internally and externally. Thus, I want to propose myself as a candidate of discussion. My main plan is to revitalize the community and promotes discussion as the problem solving solution instead of taunting and insults.

MikeBane: I am not choosing to run, I have been chosen to run. The Word commanded that I take charge of this lost nation, it is in need of serious salvation. Because of our poor leadership this country has gone down the drain, players are leaving, and we are a bunch of disorganized ego maniacs. I hope to accomplish eIreland's great salvation and repent the wicked ways of those who do not adhere to The Word's great wisdom.

How would you summarize your plan for governing the nation in May?
Adriano: You have to take things one step at a time. My first and main aim is to get our original regions back and to make peace with the Brits. Our war with them is fairly pointless, neither of us has a big enough advantage on our own to hold each others regions for long, and with many people predicting a CoT-TWO war Britain will lose most of their support. When we have our peace I want to complete the reform of the military Seanan had planned, I feel it would lead to a more productive military and it's a good thing to do in the calm before the storm. A key thing that will happen this month is the aftermath of the disbanding of EDEN. There will be a lot of nations without an alliance who may be looking to form a new one, this may open up a window for CUA however that will be something that will have to be discussed when/if it happens.

EliteC: Think before Acting and always look on the bright side. If we dwell too much at what we can't do we end up not doing anything.

Damhnaic: I think I have pretty much summarized it my articles, but my first task will be to make the promotion and make accessible the various very good tutorials and resources we have, make them accessible to new players. Furthermore, I’ll immediately begin discussion with the eEnglish new CP to end the war.

If there is a thing that I notice in past months, is the lack of discussion with the eIrish public. Authorities were taking decisions and informing the public after decisions were taken. There was also a lack of communication with the MU commanders during the war, I was informed by some of them that they had little to no information from the CP as to the famous “plan”. Thus, I want to promote discussion, and include the public in the decision making process. Polls, surveys, discussion opened articles must be more frequent. We got numerous very intelligent citizens that could provide very good insight on various subjects but they aren’t heard because decisions are being taken in very limited circles.

MikeBane: I will be on top of the command chain of eIreland, Lord and Führer. I will have a small group of trusted ministers who will exercise their power with absolute authority. We have military stockpiles that we are ready to use in eIreland's favor...if they are willingly to simply hand us the power we need to utilize it. A free eIreland in May, a Greater eIreland!

What considerations have you made for cabinet positions? How will you be using your cabinet if you are elected?
Adriano: I put a lot of thought into my cabinet, and although I may not have gotten my first choice in some position I feel that it is a strong cabinet who can accomplish a lot. I have not selected anyone or any reason other than their ability to do their job, which is an important factor in a cabinet working well. My cabinet won't just be used for the designated jobs, they will also all have the chance to give their opinion on all major decisions because it is vital to get all sides of the story before making a decision. This is why EA has been such a successful party in the past with our projects, because we embrace individuality and differing opinions.

EliteC: Cabinet is available here. The Ministers will preform their tasks in running their Departments and have been giving their free opurtunity to apoint a Deputy should they choose to do so.

Damhnaic: I am very confident when I say I have a very strong team. I am very enthusiastic at the thought of working with each and every one of them, as I highly value their opinions even if they are different from mine. I do not plan on running the country alone, but I think we need coordination and discussion between a group of ministers. I do not think a rigid structure is valid, thus I hope we can all work together in the various tasks, ministers helping each others.

MikeBane: You can look in my articles, but currently the positions filled are MoW (Ministry of the Word), MoFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), MoD (Ministry of Defense), MoT & PM (Ministry of Twinkies & Prime Minister), and d.F (Deputy Führer).

eIreland is currently under occupation by the eUK. What is your plan regarding the conflict between eIreland and the eUK?
Adriano: I have to say I am not your military expert, I can not go into the specifics of how we will win the war but with the cooperation of our allies we will get an end to this war. If CoT and TWO do go to war with each other it will make our war much easier to win, but that is not something we can decide so we should prepare in case that doesn't happen.

EliteC: I have said many times that I want peace between Ireland and UK. If that means sitting down and having a discussion and coming to an agreement I would be thrilled. In the event they won't sit we will fight them to the end and show them what Ireland is made of.

Damhnaic: I don’t think we have the resources or the men which are needed against our current enemy. I believe if we have a real discussion with England (no taunting and insults, no arrogance and ego) they can be more open to an unconditional liberation. (Already there were open minds for unconditional liberation “When MUFC will be out”) My idea on all this, if we can solve our problems as quickly as possible on a diplomatic ground, we can save our manpower and resources to help our (also wiped) allies in southern America. What we/they are lacking is manpower against enemies more numerous than we are. If we can solve our problem diplomatically, we'll be able to help them.

MikeBane: Liberation strategy. Revolutionary guerrilla warfare, we are talking playing dirty and come out victorious. If Chaz and Wayne are elected then we can consider a peaceful transition from occupied Eire to free Eire.

In March eIreland moved to join Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina in a mutual protection pact brotherhood. What are your plans for relations with CUA in May?
Adriano: I want to continue our relations with CUA and improve them so that we are all on one page as an alliance. I don't really have too much else to say on this topic aside from HAIL COLOMBIA! HAIL URUGUAY! HAIL ARGENTINA! HAIL CUA!

EliteC: I think we have generally good relations as it is with CUA. I will talk to my MoFA and Ambassador Manager and CUA governments, to see if we can get a delegation to all 3 couintries to live there for a few days looking around and seeing exactly what is going on. It will give us a good indication into the running of our allies, and will certainly bring us closer.

Damhnaic: I am very interested in keeping good relations with CUA, I think Argentinians are old friends of ours and proved their loyalty and support during numerous battles (even if they couldn’t hold against combined LoLand and eUK). My main plan is to end the war with Britain so we can offer our resources and manpower to our allies to help them liberate their regions. If needed, I can also offer myself or my Ministry of Foreign Affairs services as diplomatic mediator between conflict belligerents.

MikeBane: Maintain those relations, but pursue to better our relations with our comrades we TRULY want to fight beside..

As TWO and CoT emerge as the major alliances in what many are predicting will be a bi-polar alliance situation, where do you see eIreland’s place as being currently/potentially/ideally?
Adriano: Currently it is quite hard to place ourselves on either TWO's or CoT's side, because obviously we can't join TWO as it would not only alienate many of our very good allies and we are also currently at war with them. Many people would point to CoT as our side but you have to take into account that Argentina are currently being occupied by CoT so for now I have no stance for joining either side and it won't be a choice our government will make on its own - it will be a decision our brotherhood makes as a unit.

EliteC: Currently Ireland is in a string alliance and should be under no threat. That being said TWO who the UK is a member of may turn on us, but we should be confident if it does happen we have CUA and CoT behind us. Ideally we should place ourselves in a place of neutrality fighting for our allies in need.

Damhnaic: That is not my decision to make and it’ll fall to the choice of the eIrish people during a referendum offering all of the options, including staying neutral.

I think we have potential allies on both sides, but both sides have their advantages and disadvantages. I’ll be very honest saying I am not able to take a decision at this state of the conflict and it’ll need further analysing to make a mind on the subject. But you can’t be sure Ireland won’t be joining a side because of my personal animosity or appreciation of a particular country.

MikeBane: We have a duty to assist our brothers in battle, alliance or not. Friends before bourgeoisie alliances; comrades before States!

Are there any special goals or projects that you plan on undertaking this month?
Adriano: I've mentioned the reform of the military that Seanan tried to undertake earlier, but on top of that I will be planning on getting the MoC much more active. In recent months it has not been as active as usual and I want to get it back up to what it should be so that we can keep more of our new players playing this game.

EliteC: A babyboom would be nice. Despite the opposition from some, I see it as a way Ireland can grow and become the nation we all want it to be. People need to start coming up with solutions not problems.

Damhnaic: Missions for new citizens; better and more frequent community awards; new citizens tutoring; restructuring of Fiannas.

MikeBane: The University Project - it's an idea that would offer eIreland a place for citizens to share, discuss, and learn about various subjects. Historians may also write their own history from their point of view, while the State would have an objective history for all to learn from. It's a unique idea that I think would build an intellectual class in eIreland.

This is a packed election going into May with five candidates in the running. How do you predict this election will unfold, and how confident are you in your campaign?
Adriano: There are quite a few candidates for this election, especially compared to last months when there was really only one choice. I don't see MikeBane really competing for the post this month, and Ibhoy has said he may not be to active, so I think it might turn into a 3 horse race. It could really go anyway but of course I think I will win the election. Which ever way the election goes Ireland will win.

EliteC: Likely victors will be from one of the bigger parties. I am confident I have laid down a solid campaign and hopefully will have a good showing in this election.

Damhnaic: I am fairly confident I exposed my ideas as best as I could. I published four articles in which I hope I proved my worth. I have no expectation towards the election, I know it is often won by “party vote” (people vote for their party candidate) and I know there are bigger parties running candidates.

I have no animosity toward a possible loss, as It’ll allow me to focus my month on my writings and readings. I just hope the winning candidate will win because of its ideas and worth, not because he was a clown during the campaign or because of mindless support caused by party affiliation.

MikeBane: I believe all these choices will only make it easier for the smaller parties (the parties currently backing my campaign) to win this race. I am confident we can keep up in the races and I encourage people from other parties to show their solidarity with us smaller parties and voting for me! 🙂

What will this last term be remembered for?
Adriano: The last term will be remembered in two very different way depending on your opinion of MUFC. If you dislike him you will concentrate on our disregard of the peace treaty and our wiping, while if you are a supporter of MUFC you will point to the wiping of the UK and the entertainment our war has bought to Irish citizens.

EliteC: Being wiped is an obvious answer here. But we should also look at positives that we have going. Ambassador programme went well and Community Sector thrived.

Damhnaic: Arrogance, wipe

MikeBane: The wipe.

What will your term be remembered for?
Adriano: I think my term will most likely be remembered for what we do concerning alliances and the direction we choose.

EliteC: Rejuvenation - Stability - Liberation

Damhnaic: Discussion, community

MikeBane: The second greatest liberation in eIrish history..

There you have it eIreland. The choice between these eIrish candidates is yours. Choose well.
