[Interview] Imporant Concerns of Our Nation - PotUS Candidate Interviews

Day 2,445, 09:51 Published in USA USA by MrCarey
Citizens of eUSA, I have had the pleasure of conducting interviews on behalf of We the People with both our presidential candidates; the current POTUS, dmjohnston and his competition Irule777. I tried to stick to the same questions for both candidates that way one candidate didn’t have an advantage over another based on questions. Without further adieu, first up is dmjohnston followed by Irule after the break.

MrCarey: In your recent article you talked about Domestic Policy and how it has become a key battle in this month's presidential race. Can you touch on why you feel it's an important issue facing eAmerica right now?
dmjohnston: This game has its ups and downs and one of the constants that keep active players around is the community and the involvement that domestic programs like the DoI and DoE bring. If we intend to keep running as a nation, we do need to have a balanced focus on the homefront.

MrCarey: How do you feel you've addressed Domestic Issues during your current term as POTUS and what changes if any will you make if re-elected?
dmjohnston: Education and Media have done an outstanding job this month, as I mentioned in my article yesterday. Interior has room to grow, and I've chosen Civil Anarchy as the man to make that happen. He's a tried and tested leader in the domestic front and he'll do an excellent job getting things active again. I've also tried to get new players involved in departments wherever possible, personally contacting secretaries about openings when people approach me offering help.

MrCarey: Gotchya. Well it certainly sounds like you've got the home front well cared for, but let's switch gears for a minute and talk a bit about Foreign relations. What do you feel is the most important foreign issue facing eAmerica right now?
dmjohnston: There is a definite stigma in some nations that the eUS is a bad ally. I've worked hard this month to change that view where I can. I've been available to other nations for talks, and we as a nation have truly delivered when called upon for our allies in Russia (Hail RUSA!), Latvia, Mexico, and elsewhere.

MrCarey: So you're saying the eUSA needs to be more focused on being a good neighbor?
dmjohnston: In a lot of ways, yeah. Obviously we shouldn't be push overs that let our enemies walk over us, but we can and have done a better job being reliable when it comes to helping the nations that call us friends and not making new enemies unnecessarily.

MrCarey: So now we've touched on both the domestic and foreign affairs, what do you feel the two biggest issues facing eAmerica are right now?
dmjohnston: There is still a very noticeable division in our population. I think we've made some good progress this month when the government communicating much more effectively with the Private MUs, but the political chasm separating some of the parties is still very much present. I'd like to see more cooperation between the parties, particularly in congress. A unified bill of some sort could do wonders for the nation right now, even something small like another Congressional Medal, if agreed upon across party lines.

MrCarey: That's interesting, I didn't realize there was such a split between parties. Speaking of parties - You're a member of We The People. How did you become a part of the party? What made you decide on WTP?
dmjohnston: It's really as simple as saying that Hale26 recruited me, haha. At the time, I wasn't involved in politics at all (this was about a year ago) so when Hale and I were working together in the Air Force, he convinced me to give WTP a try and I've been here ever since.

MrCarey: And from a lowly recruit, you rose to the position of POTUS. Seems quite inspiring for new players. Would you recommend WTP to new players, and why or why not?
dmjohnston: I love WTP, and that's primarily because of what it stands for. It's, as far as I know, the only party that really exemplifies democracy in all our decisions. Congressmen are all chosen by the party vote and they vote on their own ideals, not on a party line. It makes WTP very special.

MrCarey: So I assume you would recommend WTP to new players?
dmjohnston: Yes, absolutely. Sorry, should have been clear on that.

MrCarey: In a previous article, you said; "America needs a very domestically focused President now more than ever." Why is it more important now than it was... say 6 months ago?
Irule777: Well, it's always important. But the longer we wait, the less active our community gets. We have a better shot and more talent to use the sooner we decide to push ourselves to bring up IRC activity, opportunities for new players, and more. It also will make the game more fun for everyone, not just new players.

MrCarey: How do you feel your time as Secretary of the Interior is going to help with retention if you become POTUS?
Irule777: Well I think I did a brilliant job as Secretary of the Interior and learned how important things like an active media presence is, something we intend to improve on next month should I win. I think it also helped me understand what new players need more of and how we can push our domestic programs to become much better.

MrCarey: What are some examples of guidance you intended to provide to new players?
Irule777: First and foremost, I want to help them to get on IRC, something we don't put a lot of effort into now. That's a big way we can ensure they'll continue playing, get involved, and absolutely become a part of the community, and from there we can get them all the help they need.

MrCarey: Well it certainly sounds like you have a solid plan for domestic issues, which is good because that seems to be the foundation of your platform. But let's switch gears for a minute and talk a bit about Foreign relations. What do you feel is the most important foreign issue facing eAmerica right now?
Irule777: I think right now it's essential we work on building relations with other nations, especially those with a geographical interest to us. I think by doing this we can really put ourselves in a better spot with foreign affairs and give us many more options. My team intends to work very hard, as do I, on improving relations with other nations and those we're already allied with. And we also intend to bring back the ambassador program, a great way for us to really show other nations how interested in them we are and a great way to get other people involved in foreign affairs.

MrCarey: Interesting. Can you elaborate a bit on the ambassador program?
Irule777: Absolutely. That's an old program that was discontinued several months ago. We send staffers to other nations to give updates to their government and write reports on the happenings of that nation. It helps us really have someone focused on that nation's media and events and gives us a great chance to grow our outlook on the world. It's also a wonderful way to get new players and old players involved in foreign affairs, and I think many more would love to do that.

MrCarey: What do you currently feel the two most important issues facing eUSA are?
Irule777: Well narrowing it down to just two is difficult, but I suppose activity and involvement. Pushing new members to get active on IRC is a big and important thing we can do far better, and I think we can get all players involved in the game, government, and off-game community more as well.

MrCarey: Alright, I want to switch gears for a bit now and talk with you about We the People. How did you get into WTP?
Irule777: I joined when I first joined the eUS last year, though left for a while in between and rejoined about a month or two ago. I really liked the party's activity and decided it was for me, and I really enjoy the people here.

MrCarey: Would you recommend a new player to join WTP, and if so why? If not, why not?
Irule777: I think that's an individual choice. I personally love the party and thought it was a good choice. It's an active party that gives new players a great chance to get involved, and that's a very important attribute for a new guy just jumping into the game. The players are all nice and helpful as well, which is great.

So there you have it eAmerica - your presidential candidates for August 2014. I urge you to consider both candidate's platforms and please vote on August 5th for the man you would like to continue to lead our country to greatness!
