[Don Ecclestone] eRepublik F1 Update

Day 2,125, 05:04 Published in India India by DonMogul

Formula One Returns

We will follow the same format as always. You old timers will remember ho it works but fot those of you who have never taken part in my competition before here is how it works:

Teams

You have two options when signing up for the Formula One tournament. You may choose to take the whole team for yourself (that is take control of 2 cars), OR you may have another eRepublik citizen working with you in the team.

So far we have 3 teams registered all of whom at the moment are solo teams but if you feel youd like to give them a hand and not manage a team yourself talk to these people:

Kushal Friggin' Agrawal - Manager of Aneurysm

Bharmal - Manager of Dabangg Racing

ShockWavve - Manager of Yo Yo Hamturk Sing Racing

On the other hand there are still 8 teams left for you to take over for yourself or form your own team! Its up to you!

Set-Ups

The software used to simulate our racing season will be a modified version of Grand Prix 4 by Geoff Crammond.

2-3 days before the race is run I upload a video to youtube showcasing the coming track (some 'race weeks' may contain more than one race!) via a hotlap driven by yours truly. It is important for competitors to watch these videos as the information is vital. Competitors will then need to message me their setup for the race weekend before the announced deadline.

Failure to submit a setup before the deadline will result in a 10% BHP penalty on your engine and you will be limited to 6th gear.

Competitors will have three different areas of the car they can adjust and they are:

Downforce (low/medium/high) - help push the car's tyres onto the track and improve cornering forces; and minimising the drag that gets caused by turbulence and acts to slow the car down.

Break bias (rear/balanced/front) - is critical to the stability of a racing car during the braking and during turn-in phase; too much rear brakes will tend to cause the car to spin; too much front and car will not turn in.

Gear ratios (low/medium/high)
- A short gear will result in higher torque but a lower top speed. A long gear will result in lower torque but a higher top speed.

KERS (on/off)
- The principle of the system is to use surplus energy that is created by a F1 car while decelerating, into a propelling force. According to the FIA, a kinetic energy recovery system is 'a system that is designed to recover kinetic energy from the car during braking, store that energy and make it available to propel the car'. Be warned that the use of this system will increase the risk of mechanical failures.

3 'Driving' Stages

Free Practice

I implement everyone's setup for their own cars and take the cars around the track for a single hot-lap. The fastest cars will earn performance bonuses for qualifying and the race.

Qualifying

After applying performance bonuses I run 3 stages of qualifying.

Race

I run the race at 20% race distance and record the race using fraps. IF YOU GUYS PROMISE TO WATCH THE VIDEO I WILL UPLOAD IT TO YOUTUBE! I update the driver's standings, constructor's championship etc and move on to the next round!

Every 2nd race will be a full 100% distance race. For these races, not only will you need to consider your car setup you will also need to consider your pit stop strategy. Bear in mind there IS refeulling!

Why Should I do ALL THIS WORK??? You say.

Does some GOLD suit you? 😃

1st Place - 55 GOLD
2nd Place - 34 GOLD
3rd Place - 11 GOLD

OMG I'LL BE RICH HOW DO I SIGN UP?????

First consider whether or not you want a team mate or whether you want to take both seats in the team for yourself. Both ideas have advantages!

Then visit this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDVTVkM2X1pPa29JQ1cwd0w3ZWZqZ2c6MQ#gid=0 some of you may need to copy the link and paste it into a new window of your browser.

Dont forget to tell me the colour scheme you want for the car!

Isn't that car pretty? This was Alector's car 😃
