[Deputy CP] Argentina Surrenders, Glorious Victory

Day 2,776, 06:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Sir Humphrey Appleby

The United Brodom of Great Britain and Ireland

Afternoon gents o7,

This morning it came as no surprise that, after an appalling campaign by Argentina, their military junta would collapse and the new civilian government tender an unconditional surrender to the combined Anglo-Irish force. After a damn well earnt pat on the back, the good citizens of the Brodom of Great Britain and Ireland return to their homes with a cheap medal and a generous bonus of mental illnesses.

Unfortunately that is the paragraph I would’ve liked to have used to describe the last crash-crash week that was our liberation campaign. Whilst the British Isles are indeed once again united as it should be, it is under, err, the wrong flag (but I suppose you can’t get everything). Predictably the second front opened by the Irish initially showed some degree of resilience as ours did, but it was more or less a lost cause to keep the momentum up against a core bloc of Asteria constantly tanking against us.

Quite a few countries are in our position given the current geopolitical structure (now including Ireland who has graciously joined us). Most people with a basic GCSE in mathematics will point out that given the sheer imbalance of damage between the occupied and the occupiers, we will have to abandon numbers and appeal for a miracle for any real chance of kicking the sods out. Without giving too much away there should be a few interesting days ahead as a ‘coalition of the annoyed’ starts to play a bit of mischief around Asteria (always check the MoD daily priorities!).

It is understandably very annoying to have to go through a wipe, given it is essentially the closest you can come nationally to ‘losing the game’. Not only are the economical effects quite brutal as you’ll see in the BoE report tomorrow, but the social cohesion and activity of the community begins to feel the toll too. It is a credit to Spain that they are still in relatively good shape after several months of occupation by Serbia and Portugal. Alas the Venezuelans, after having been in similar circumstances in South America have now lost their newfound home in Northern Ireland that we gave them. Hopefully they will keep things together by the time we can arrange a similar accommodation for them…

For the moment we must look to ourselves and try and retain the vague optimism that usually sees us through this; if we can keep Ajay away from the national drinks cabinet then that’s probably a start. I expect the main focus will be on community events and competitions, and hopefully a few gaming groups given the fact that… well, we’re mostly gamers right? eRep can be dull but it’s history is mildly interesting - there were occasional times we were wiped by Ireland and her allies, then wiped Ireland with our allies; now 2015 sees us wiped together, friends to the grave. Maybe a United Brodom isn’t completely off the cards…

Finally, I think I may be runnin’ for CP and keep Ajay out... more details later ofc
