Join the new world

Dear Citizens of the eNetherlands,
Party President elections have just taken place and everything seems to progress as usual. We completed our agreed retreat from the United Kingdom and can now breath in relative security, without acute threats to our integrity. All good.

Foreign
As explained in the previous update, the global dominance of the pro-Asteria forces (which whom we're allied with) in the world seems to be shrinking. Western-Europe is now a haven of anti-Asteria forces and we're finding ourselves in a hard spot at the moment. Most importantly in the bigger scheme of affairs, Hungary's sphere in Europe has been threatened by a joint effort of Greece and Croatia. The first has landed in the once Hungarians regions of Germany and is clearly threatening the Hungarians. The latter is, as we speak, preparing a direct war versus Hungary. This all was preceded by Resistance Wars in Slovakia, Ukraine, Austria and other Hungarian held areas funded by the Croat and Greek governments.

Now, most of those with knowledge about the geopolitics of eRepublik know that an eventual shift of the current alliances is inevitable. Many cracks have already shown in the current system, but they never fully exploded. Will this coming war finally lead to that? It remains to be seen. The relations that are involved in this event are highly complex and contradicting however. Greece has shifted more and more from a pro-Asteria stance to an anti-Asteria one. Their perpetual rivalry with Macedonia and Bulgaria (both Anti-Asteria forces) remains, however. Meanwhile, Greece still has relations with many (supposed) pro-Asteria nations like the United States, which in turn is not a big fan of the biggest Asteria nation Serbia, to say the least. Serbia has recently come to somewhat of an agreement with Macedonia and Bulgaria, the latter two being direct enemies of Serbian allies like Argentina and Brazil. A dynamic that seems hard to persists and time will prove it will fall soon, or if the eventual change will be delayed once again.

What does this all mean for our own country? Really, all we can do is await whatever the big players in this game decide, only to follow suit to what we prefer the most. We've been close to the Hungarians however, especially the last few weeks, and will support them fully in their coming conflict(s). I urge you all to take their calls for help. We all still remember how Croatia foolishly decided to invade us randomly 2 months ago in a random and irrational strategy to somehow help their allies. Over the last few days we've received once again threats from Croatia to our country. The fact that Belgium is standing between Croatia and our country is perhaps our saving grace. We're certainly no friends of the Croats and any fight against Croatia in favour of Hungary is a fight for the Netherlands.


Domestic
As said before, I opened several discussions on some very important affairs in our country, especially about the economic sustainability of the eNetherlands. Response so far has been lacking and I invite every Dutchman to join in this discussion as this will affect you and your country. I hope this all will result in a consistent and long-term policy, instead of the day-to-day spontaneous actions that are being taken thanks to the feeling of responsibility and generosity by some of us.

On a more positive note, we're seeing an increase in activity. Our population has at least stalled, instead of free-falling. The media has been fun and active lately. Most importantly we're seeing an influx of many active players. Former President Cody Caine returned to the eNetherlands and has brought Molly with him, whose application is currently being reviewed. Good friends of our community in #eunl, GoddessOfDesire (known as Jkli5_ on IRC) and Vianchiel (known as Fall on IRC) recently joined our country. I'm happy to see all this enthusiasm in our small country and I hope it will lead to great things.
