Editor’s Notes: The media has been, not just in the US but worldwide, painfully thin. War is always good for news, as will be the activity surrounding the implementation of Plato's long awaited economic changes. Both topics present wonderful opportunities for propaganda, whether to boost morale in your own nation or to playfully poke our adversaries.

Plato Announces Economy Changes
by OMFG CoDepSecMed Illiguy

In case you missed it, Plato had a brief announcement on Saturday letting us peasants know the new economic update will go live on Day 3,145 (this coming Thursday). At that time, resources will be redistributed according to the results of the Resource Wars of last month. Also, there will be a change in how companies are set up. For details, please check the Admins' Forum post.

The gist of the new economic update is that players that currently run companies or wish to start them going forward will need to create a Holding Company. Each Holding Company is tied to a specific region, rather than the player’s citizenship.
So for instance, let’s say Custer currently has a Q7 weapons factory. In order to keep running this factory, Custer will need to start a Holding Company and decide where to locate it. For the sake of this example, let’s say Custer decides to locate his Holding Company in Arizona. First, Custer will need to travel to Arizona, create the Holding Company, and assign his Q7 weapons factory to the Holding Company he just created. If Custer decides to start a Q5 food factory, he can also assign it to the Arizona Holding Company he just created.

If, however, he decides he wants to place the Q5 food factory in Saskatchewan, he must first move to Saskatchewan and create a new Holding Company. This time, the new Holding Company will cost him (the first one was free). If he further decides to move the Q7 weapons factory to Saskatchewan, that will cost him as well. The Holding Companies cannot be moved. They are also subject to the Work Tax of the country the Holding Company is located in, as well as that of the country the player holds citizenship in. In this example, Custer is a US citizen. At his Arizona Holding Company, his tax will be determined solely by the US Work Tax. At his Saskatchewan Holding Company, the tax will comprise of 80% Canadian Work Tax and 20% US Work Tax.

Also, if you have your eyes overseas, keep in mind that if the country in which you hold citizenship goes to war with the country in which your holding company is located, you will not be able to work in that Holding Company for the duration of the war. Going back to our example, if the USA and Canada started a war, Custer would not be able to work in his Saskatchewan Holding Company until the war ends. If you wish to Work as Manager (WAM), you must be located in the same region as the Holding Company you wish to WAM.

The main takeaway of all of this is to please think carefully about where you place your Holding Companies. If you change your mind down the road, it could prove costly. If you’re a citizen of more modest means, perhaps focus on one industry to fully take advantage of your one free Holding Company. If you have any questions about the new update, don’t hesitate to ask your party or MU leaders. Watch your government newspapers this week for further tips on how to make the best of this new update.

War Map & Analysis: We Have WAR
by OMFG SecMed George Armstrong Custer

Weeks after the hyperactivity of the Resource Wars, strength gained through friendly Training Wars can finally be put to practical use. America has WAR..!

Latvia has finally started a Resistance War to start the drive to push Lithuania out. We can expect Latvia's Pacifica allies, including the eUS, and hopefully other freedom loving nations as well, to join in the campaign soon.

Without divulging OpSec plans and Private Congress conversations, it is quite public knowledge that something is about to pop in Spain. Have a look at these Proposals in the following countries' Administrations pages:
Argentina: Spain has been proposed as a target for an Airstrike.
Hungary: Spain has been proposed as a target for an Airstrike.
USA: Spain has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

As always, fight smart-- follow the DoD Orders, your MU's Daily Orders, or drop into IRC Rizon #defense for the latest specific attack orders. Just ask there to see if Arm America has been activated.

Take the Poll: eUSA Forums
by OMFG Staff Writer rainy sunday

The eUSA Forum is a US player based extension of eRepublik. There's sections dedicated to the Executive and Legislative Branches of eUS government, as well as several political Parties and military Units, and totally off-eRep discussion and games.

If you have problems with registration, rainy sunday can help you out, and Ilene Dover is available to help with navigation or understanding how the Moderators work.
Be sure you use a valid e-mail address when you register, and check your mailbox's Spam folder, before asking for help.

Calvin and Hobbes and Congress
by OMFG SecMed George Armstrong Custer

Most of Congress happens in Public, where you can not only read what's going on but you can post to the Discussion threads as well. A moderator will check your message for flaming, etc., but not opinion or position, then post it.
With the Saturday election and 24-hour hold done, first order of business Monday will be the initial Sign-In (at the main Legislative Branch page).
Almost immediately, you'll see nominations for Speaker of the House, then that election.
Next order of business should be Tax Discussions, leading into setting the July Budget.

If wading through all those forum threads becomes tiresome for you, The Speaker's Word provides a weekly summary in newspaper form, every Thursday. The first edition of the 103rd Congress will introduce a new regular feature segment to help familiarize us all on the Constitution and Code, as well as a roundup of the 102nd Congress activities to get a clean start on the 103rd.

Lithuania Crowns Goat Queen
from the Reuters News Service
Click here for a Slide Show of yesterday's historic event, and here for a video of last year's pageant.
Video of this year's royal proceedings is included in the current (at press time) BBC World News cycle.

The Lithuanian village of Ramygala held its annual beauty pageant on Sunday, the top prize going to a 16-month-old female goat called Demyte, or "Little Spot".
Around 500 people braved the summer heat to attend the parade in honor of the goat, a traditional symbol of the northern village. The pageant also included a marching band, dancers in fancy costumes and a "king" and "queen" presiding over ceremonies.

It was the first time Demyte's owner, 74-year-old retired veterinarian Ferdinandas Petkevicius, had won the competition after six years of trying.
"The only thing we didn't do to prepare the goat for the pageant is we didn't polish its nails - because we thought of it too late," said Petkevicius, holding the leash of the winning white goat with black spots, who was decorated with two roses on its head.

Six goats decorated with flowers were paraded on a red carpet before a jury comprising the local member of parliament, the head of the local school and a cucumber farmer. Several contestants stubbornly refused to walk and were instead carried by their owners.
Cakes, jars of honey, books and coupons for a haircut were awarded to winners' owners, before they walked their goats away from a by-then generously stained red carpet.

With the advent of the new Aviation Industries, the world will be launched into an aviation arms race. Whatever it turns out these new Weapons do, the country with more of them will hold a serious edge on the rest. It becomes crucial, then, that every commune and individual citizen should seriously consider adding Aircraft Factories to their production lineup.

Shout this a lot!
