What happened in Congress - part 5?

Day 2,508, 10:09 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by VoodooMike71

Oh god, do I have to do another one of these bloody things? But nobody listens anyway so I’m just wasting my time; I could be napping instead. What? What do you mean they’re just over there watching me now? Shit, they didn’t hear any of that did they?

Ahem … Hi! And welcome to another thrilling instalment of the increasingly poorly named What Happened In Congress Last Week. In this bumper 12 day issue, there’s a whole world of exciting and varied legislation to tickle your fancy. It’s much more varied than … say … a bunch of MPPs interjected by an occasional failed attempt to raise import tax. Definitely much more varied than that. Yes.

So, strap in, hold tight and tape your eyelids open. Here we go…

MPP: Ukraine
proposer: Romix1994 (Ukraine CP)
Can’t remember.

PASSE😨 27 votes to 2

MPP: Lithuania
proposer: WookieO (CP)
Can’t remember, but if Wook proposed it there must have been a good reason.

PASSE😨 28 votes to 0

Natural Enemy: Moldova
proposer: UROSZero
Moldova are attacking Ireland, Ireland are - vaguely - allied to us (through USA) and it’s in our interests to protect our borders. Anyway, everyone’s bored of Scand-bashing now - time to have a crack at some new blood. So, despite there not being a lot of love for Ireland in the room, Congress begrudgingly supported this one.

PASSE😨 26 votes to 1

MPP: Spain
proposer: jonyb b
Another day, another MPP.

PASSE😨 38 votes to 0

MPP: Bulgaria
proposer: WookieO (CP)
Getting a bit bored of these now.

PASSE😨 34 votes to 1

VAT and Import Tax: raise to 25%
proposer: fraztodd
I reckon that - on average - UKPP try to raise import tax and lower income tax every three days. And every time Congress rejects it. This time is no different.

REJECTE😨 28 votes to 5

ALERT! something other than another MPP!
In a move designed, I'm sure, for no other reason than to allow me to inject some much needed suspense and drama into this report, this is the point at which the Congress elections came along. Will the law described just up there 😁^ be my last one? Or will I make it back into Congress? Did I even bother to stand again just to put up with the endless MPPs, failed tax changes and constant meta discussions about what we should be discussing? You’ll have to wait until after this strategically placed piccy to find out…

Suspense, suspenders - all pretty much the same thing, right?

I'm back! Did you miss me? What? “No”? Oh.

So, back to the excitement…

MPP: Germany
proposer: n0s3 (German CP)
You weren’t expecting things to be any more inspiring after the election were you? To be fair, this proposal was in place while the elections were going on, so we were all far too busy campaigning clicking Refresh on the election screen to pay it much attention.

On the plus side, this was the first proposal for ages that anyone actually bothered to add a discussion link to. On the minus side, this was the link http://egermany.kienetz.de/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5021&p=119075#p119075

Germany = friends. MPP = yes.

PASSE😨 32 votes to 1

MPP: USA
proposer: Tyler Bubblar (USA CP)
Really, isn’t it time someone came up with an “automatically say yes to MPP proposals from obvious allies” thingy? We keep getting woken up by these things.

PASSE😨 36 votes to 1

MPP: Estonia
proposer: WookieO (CP)
There was probably a good reason for this. Probably.

PASSE😨 33 votes to 2

So there you have it - another exciting week 12 days or so in Congress. I could tell you more - the arguments we’ve had, the bunfight that went on during the Speaker Of The House election we’ve just had, the ensuing chaos of multiple congress message threads with nobody knowing who’s included and who isn't. But I won’t; I’ll leave it to your imagination.

Congress - a well organised legislative machine

And finally, I imagine you'd be wanting the obligatory bonus pic? Thought so...

Apologies to Madelina - I couldn't stomach the male version

You know that competition where you need 25 separate comments on your articles? Yeah, that’s still running, and I haven’t done it yet. Please don’t force me to start offering bribes - vote, shout and comment instead. You know it makes sense.
