The useless state of Congress and the hysteria getting there
Sir Humphrey Appleby
I suppose this could count as my Y&H Manifesto...
😃
WHAT A PROVOCATIVE TITLE.
Yes, it’s that time of the month again; and our dear British media is showing off its 3,000 newspapers by the frivolous surge of pointless manifestos made by varying party faithful, each making a bid for the useless and unprofessional institutional known to us as Congress. Fact is the only seats that depend on a candidate’s ability is in London, all the rest are left to each Party’s mobile voting prowess.
This allows Party’s to submit candidates who usually have no practical ideas of their own and agree to rubber stamp any scheme of the Governments, which is their only purpose (to which we should be grateful). Each month, it’s a pointless battle between the top 5 for seats that rarely matter and usually held by lunatics that try to block the vital donations to the Bank of England or increase the minimum wage to 500GBP on some pathetic socialist agenda designed to spiral this country into ruin.
At least it isn’t as bad as the Irish Dáil Éireann.
😉
Each month we are subject to the same rubbish where an overdressed moron from the top 5 stumble onto the media stage with their newly made newspaper; proclaiming how their severe lack of experience will bring about a revolutionary change in the country and bring a vast scale of improvements that will be funded via an excellent scheme known to Johnny Taxpayer as bollocks.
The endless drama of pledging Q5 hospitals for the local tramps that decided to reject the call to Fortress London, followed by the outrageous claim that they intend to actually serve the local residents – is reiterated by their clear lack of knowledge nor prior effort in the political field and summarised by their hell-bent hysteria to invade every country under the sun with the premise that our armed forces could take on anything under their flawless leadership.
It’s the same pointless melodrama in the House of Commons every month, where the first two weeks are spent by the government in suppressing these idiots from running their anarchist agendas and the final week in whipping them into shape for a re-election. Their career as an MP is a government-subsidised ego trip for which you need no qualifications, no required hours of work and the only prerequisite for the job is bothering to take themselves seriously.
Because nobody else does.

"overdressed moron"?
It is precisely to combat the loopy proposals to invade everywhere, build hospitals everywhere etc that sensible players are needed in Congress. Worthy but dull stuff, maybe, but doing the right things and not the wrong things is what Congress seems to be doing.
Just lol.
lol..... thanks for using the fadas on Dáil Éireann 🙂
High quality government communication with an inxperienced congress is essential. Most newbies are rational if something is properly explained to them...... like how they shouldn't invade eIreland with 3 MPPs eh?😛 Nice article!
I completely http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-congress-citizens-of-the-north-west--1308286/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-con[..]/1/20 agree.
At least all my manifestos were loaded with at least one cringeworthy gag.
I whole-heartedly http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/west-midlands-manifesto-1309441/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/west[..]/1/20 agree
heh
I guess I am not the only one with a 'cavalier attitude toward congress'
In some respects this is true. In my infancy I too gave into the epicly long manifestos (more out of the opportunity to 'act' than anything else). Although I did always run with a motivation to at least try and make the game better for others than just myself.
Congress' effectiveness has been called into question on more than one occasion. As a believer in Parliamentarianism, and giving people a chance to effect policy and change within the government, I would love to see Congress as more than just a rubber-stamp for the government. Unfortunately it just doesn't seem to work that way.
Insightful comments. Definitely voted and subscribed.
Down with the government, up with voting!
down with johnny taxpayer!
Agreed.
you forgot to mention pretentiosness!
You reckon you could break the game by no one trying to get into congress?
Oh yeah what was the point of this article though? i mean what do you want to happen about your views?
Agreed, dissolve congress and give me all executive powers.
Indeed - my manifesto is infinitely more interesting for the fact that it promises very little 🙂

Agreed. It's one reason why I check the HoC less often and usually don't say a word
Agreed. Look forward to see you back in Congress. Good luck!
