The Raise in Import Taxes, and Potential Effects (aftermath)
Mann551
A few days after the import tax has been implemented, and a day after VAT taxes have been raised, checking prices seems to show that there has been little to no change as of yet in terms of prices for weapons and food.
Continue to keep an eye on them though, prices could change, although I for one am doubtful.

That makes sense. Prices are set at a global level. Prices cannot go higher here or else: a) people will go overseas to buy cheaper items to sell here for a profit, or b) people will go overseas to buy cheaper goods increasing the stock of Canadian food and weapons leading to fire sales reducing prices back to levels seen elsewhere.
Doesnt this make you want to experiment to see how high you can go before disrupting things.
No, not really. At a certain point the taxes will make companies unprofitable. It's possible to do that math with a pencil and paper (ok, an Excel spreadsheet) so we might as well just do that rather than guess.
That comment was about taxes in general. If you just want to talk about Import Taxes then sure, we could give it a shot but that would require us to lower them. And we could still probably figure that out by hand.
Whole ecpnomic side of this game is broken at this point. They would be best erasing it all and rebuilding it.
My guess is it won't matter until 20% or so. People have so much over stock and are used to not profiting that a raise in taxes does not make much of a difference. Slave pits are also a good reason why prices won't change much as they are already artificially low
I agree. I think that at this point we should all just throw in the towel. Why bother even dreaming about profit and a return on investment. Let's pool our gold with people in the US (practically assured of 5/5/5 resource bonuses) and maximise our 1 or 2 times (or more, if you're willing to pay for it) working a day.
It won't matter until anywhere above 40%, at that point, foreign investors will turn away. I hope he raises the taxes to 40%. I am a Q7 Weapons supplier and I find the foreign competition a bit annoying, as I can't lower my prices past a certain level, yet they seem to be doing just fine.
That's because they have better bonuses.
