The Market and Common sense

Day 1,827, 10:30 Published in United Kingdom Germany by Chemical Chaos

Today I’ve finally decided to write about the current market after many days/weeks considering it but being far too lazy to write.

Currently if you look on the market you will see a buyers haven the prices in general are really low meaning you get a lot for your money. However I’m going to assume that most players (myself included) have to sell items that they have produced in order to have money to spend on the markets. This is where the problems and what seems to be a complete lack of logic and common sense arises.

Starting with weapons you will see that there are many players selling at a loss, Table 1 below shows the cost of weapons compared with raw materials costs and we can see that the lower quality levels make fairly substantial losses

Table 1

(Values accurate day 1826)

All the way to Q4 are making a loss which means something in the system has to change. I'm not sure if the sellers in question have large empires on eRepublik and are off setting the losses with large profits from better quality weapons or if they are just players who Work as Manager for all their produce either way greater profits are to be had by not working in the factory and just selling the raw materials.

So for a lot of people it’s a big D’oh moment however now the error of your ways has been pointed out there can now be changes and the possibility of a profitable (most probably tiny profits) for all.

If we now look at the food market we see it looks a lot healthier with the possibility of profit for all.

Table 2

As you can see all levels in food quality have prices set above break even points so no one makes a loss however this does not tell the whole story as players generally only buy the cheapest food available per unit of wellness, in this case that would be Q3 with the bottom quality foods all being very similar in price.
I remember a while ago there was a bot which bought items from the market to mop up surplus, as far as I know this bot has been removed which would make the Q7 food profits per company of £135.80 will be heavily inflated as it is unlikely that you could sell your daily produce.
Now for a brighter look on things, WRM still has the ability to make a profit which can be seen below, for those who have Q1 – Q4 weapons this is the money you could be making instead of the loss you are currently making.

Hopefully this information has been useful and an interesting read

EDIT: I forgot to consider VAT so losses are larger and profits smaller on food and weapons
