Resignation from the MDP

Day 2,311, 04:37 Published in Canada Canada by YuriResurrected

Due to disagreements with the MDP's policy and governance, I am officially announcing resignation from this Political Party. I had originally wanted to complete my term in Congress before doing this as I was elected as an MDP candidate, but it had a come to a point whether I thought I was no longer able to represent Party interests.

The primary reason for leaving is my objection to the MDP being in support of increasing the Work Tax past the 2% pre-war threshold. I am of the belief that eCanadian citizens are cash-strapped as it is as a result of the war, and that exceeding the threshold was not only a poor economic policy but a complete perversion of power, which was granted to them through Congressional elections to make conditions easier for citizens and not harder.

My secondary reason was due to the Party's callous apathy when it became apparent that Rylde had made a series of disgusting, unconscionable personal attacks against another Party Member. There was absolutely no pressure from other MDP members for Rylde to apologize for his actions or any discussion as to how he was to be reprimanded. The council responsible for administering the Party failed to provide a statement of condemnation regarding the comments. Personally, I am of the opinion that players who show such a blatant disrespect for other players should have no right to serve in public office. This, combined with the MDP's inaction has led me to decide that I want nothing to do with this organization.

I still intend on being politically active in eCanada and am currently weighing my options.
