Resignation from the MDP
YuriResurrected
Due to disagreements with the MDP's policy and governance, I am officially announcing resignation from this Political Party. I had originally wanted to complete my term in Congress before doing this as I was elected as an MDP candidate, but it had a come to a point whether I thought I was no longer able to represent Party interests.
The primary reason for leaving is my objection to the MDP being in support of increasing the Work Tax past the 2% pre-war threshold. I am of the belief that eCanadian citizens are cash-strapped as it is as a result of the war, and that exceeding the threshold was not only a poor economic policy but a complete perversion of power, which was granted to them through Congressional elections to make conditions easier for citizens and not harder.
My secondary reason was due to the Party's callous apathy when it became apparent that Rylde had made a series of disgusting, unconscionable personal attacks against another Party Member. There was absolutely no pressure from other MDP members for Rylde to apologize for his actions or any discussion as to how he was to be reprimanded. The council responsible for administering the Party failed to provide a statement of condemnation regarding the comments. Personally, I am of the opinion that players who show such a blatant disrespect for other players should have no right to serve in public office. This, combined with the MDP's inaction has led me to decide that I want nothing to do with this organization.
I still intend on being politically active in eCanada and am currently weighing my options.

Best news of the term.
I'm glad there are things that please you other than making tasteless remarks about people's deceased family members.
Quit beating a dead woman already is a dead subject.
You must really want this incident to go away so you can refuse responsibility for this. It won't.
Expecting peace-time tax rates is kind of silly.
Freedom ain't free.

Do not mistake my comment-vote for a cessation of hostilities, IBB93. We are still bitter enemies-with-benefits.
(I just always have to vote for Team America: World Police.)
Always x2
Hiking taxes during war makes no sense, as with the price level rising due increased demand for food and weapons citizens need as much financial reserves as they can spare.
erep economics 😕= real world economics. Why aren't you in a commune btw?
Your taxes are a pittance to what was raised and spent by long time players to fight for your freedom of being able vote on taxes. After what was spent you spit in all there faces by not voting to raise taxes.
Not sad to see you go and don't let the door kick you. You have no grasp of those who went above and beyond.
I actually kind of agree with Rylde on this one... It's not every day that I do. Believe me.
I also voted yes to the tax raise. We needed to fund the war effort, and Taxes were a very viable option. It was discussed in the forums extensively, then implemented.
I agree with you though that MDP is not the right party for you. The mental constriction implemented on you hindered any sort of freedom of governance. I've been there.. I jumped ship pretty quick... Wasn't my cup of tea either.
I Recommend CPF.. It's full of free thinkers, and every voice matters and is heard. You'd be a great fit.
Not to mention in almost all RL instances of war, taxes were raised to help defray the costs. The latest actions in Afganistan/Iraq don't conform to this and look what that's done for the economies of all nations involved.
Good luck!
Thank you.
I think you are wrong on the taxes...
As for the other issue.. that is your choice.
Good Riddance
Funny that CW/IW members said the same thing when they threw you out.
Ya.. I didn't even run for re-election - Try to keep up, OK?
Of course not, you didn't actually stand a chance of winning without the help of your MDP PTO-ers.
I'd like, for once, for someone to prove that the MDP was actively aiding in the PTOing of other parties. Please. Show it to me. Please.
They can't Leo, they can't
I received an email from Rolo during the PP elections asking me to go to CW and vote for him instead of Rolo. That's all the evidence I need.
So the guy running asked you to move?
You got a PM he probably sent to people in every party to try and steal Clan Wolf?
Did anyone in the leadership of the MDP ask you to help him?
Of course we didn't, but I guess the truth doesn't matter to you.

4% of 28 dollars which is roughly the wage is 1.12
If fellow eCanadians cant afford to chip in that then we have bigger problems, those that feel 1.12 is to much probably are not taking advantage of the numerous and generous MU's we have
as to Rylde, he can be a callous dick...didnt you know that going in
So many crybabies that feel the need to write an article when they leave
Don't let the door hit you on the way out...
Have never heard of this guy until now but am getting tired of people throwing hissy fits.
I have. He let a bunch of Albanians into the country.
Well that's just tough. This falls well within my freedom of speech.
Don't worry, I'm done wasting my time with this organization.
So called freedom of speech is an American thing and from memory it doesn't cover whingers?
[removed]
It extends to this game as well. If you don't like it send a ticket to the administrators.
Freedom of speech does not extend to eRep lol. Just ask Plato... he gives out FPs all the time for people making what you call "free speech"
No Yuri I'd rather spend my time stirring you. Much for fun and am always sure of a bite.

Tenet #5 - High Govt taxes will be supported to fund the nations militaries.
Rylde's comments were not defensible, nor were they defended by any within the MDP. And he apologized for making them. However, you had an opportunity to address the comments yourself in the party feed and organize some kind of punitive measures, but you did not, despite your strong objection.
So you don't wish to follow our rules, and you wish to hold all other members to a different standard than you hold yourself.
Have fun.
Been awhile since I was on there. we should reprint the charter.
When I took this up on the party message thread, no one was interested in taking any sort of punitive action. After that I had decided that I could no longer in good conscience be associated with said organization.
come on, the taxes are barely anything.
but I guess everyone have their own opinion.
most people just click the "resign" button and be on their way
not sure what you are trying to gain in the article
people change parties all the time, what makes this change special?
It isn't. I just write stuff pertaining to my experiences in the game. If people don't like what I write then they don't have to read it.
He is trying to gain attention. As far as I'm concerned if you aren't happy with something either fix it or move on. Either way don't just sit there and complain like a child
False. I took issue with the organization and recorded what they were. I'm free to publish whatever I please.
I was pretty sure we all agreed what Rylde did was over the line. He even apologized.
As for the work tax, it was discussed in congress more than it was in party communique. It wasn't just an MDP thing. You were told many times you're free to vote how you want and i'm sure you voted against it. The thing is that more than just the MDP voted for it so I don't know how you can place the blame on us.
The taxes are so small and we confirmed with communes that it would cause negligible harm in return for the financial gains to the treasury. Would you have us surrender to the US? That's what we would be down to if we couldn't sign MPP's or provide weapons to our troops. Donations can only go so far.
I'm afraid that sorry doesn't cut it. As for the taxes, I did not think I could be a member of an organization which fundamentally goes against what policies I think would be best.
actually all MDP members were directed to vote in favor of the tax change.
Yuri's failure to comply was noted, and he was probably going to occupy the last spot on the ballot if he tried to run for Congress again as a result.
I don't recall that, I was told to vote however I wanted but the party line was in favour of the tax change.

The taxes we pay are basically miniscule. And also eCanada is full of generally rich people who spend a tonne of visa money on this game, so CAD... really isn't an issue. Your argument is invalid and selfish.
On the business of the Rylde comment, if you are going to disassociate yourself with him and his party because of what he said, you should have hopped on that bandwagon like four or five days ago when it was all really cool to do so. You don't win any political points today for wasting time kicking the can before finally deciding to do so. I imagine you waited until now so that you could be in the spotlight once again. And you say RYLDE has poor taste.
Best of luck to you, but I'm sure eCanada is going to blacklist you as a bandwagoner; that tends to be what we do. Good luck makin' more friends. Have fun taking DMV's visagold.
