Quit Your Whining and Get Busy

Day 2,076, 08:45 Published in USA USA by Ldwamego

I have now been active in eRepublik for the last four months and some things have become very apparent. First, it seems that the same few people do all of the work, and that a lot of other people like to complain about how things are going, but when it comes to ideas they have no real suggestions. Those who do have new ideas find it very hard to find traction in the current cultural climate that exists in eUSA. I have several ideas that might help get people interested in becoming more involved. I am not going to go every all of them in this article; long winded articles bore the tits off most people, therefore I will discuss them in separate articles.

Apathy exists because so many of us are happy to sit around and let others do the heavy lifting. I for one find it difficult to participate fully due to my lack of time to spend on the IRC. While this is a useful tool it does have one serious flaw, it requires the user to be on their laptop/computer. Why do we continue to use outdated technology when more accessible programs exist? According to recent studies 1 in 5 people worldwide (1,500,000,000) people have smart phones. This does not even include those who have iPods or other tablets that will allow web browsing.

While eRepublik is not easy to use on a phone, it is possible to read articles, complete daily tasks and fight when needed. Further, there are programs that allow people to use their phones or iPods/iPads to stay in constant contact without having to have their laptops/computers with them.

Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce:

Mibbit Chat has 20 million unique users, according to their website. KakaoTalk has over 90 million active users! I personally have 1,126 contacts that I have met while playing another game called Valor. I am not advertising for the game, but I will say this: It is not as fun as eRepublik. There are no opportunities to write news articles, run for office or build businesses, but it is growing fast due to the social aspect of the game that Kakao has provided.

Kakao does require a phone number to set up an account, but there are apps available to bypass this requirement. Kakao has also recently added a PC option. I will put myself out there a bit to anyone interested. My Kakao ID is Noncompliant, give the app a try, look me up and let us see if using less antiquated technology will lead to more activity.

More to come if people are interested…

Hope to see you soon and let’s open a
