Just Too Good To Be True

Earlier today Leona Dye (profile link http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/7245703) posted on my MU feed that he was selling 5000 q7 weapons at $6.30. Now i saw this and was so excited i quickly ordered 150 weapons right away. But since i was skeptical that he would send the tanks i said to do the order in 2 times. so i sent him half the money ($472.50) for half the tanks to be on the safe side. well it turns out i made a good decision because he never sent tanks. I also learned that Gnilraps lost like $31500 trying to buy 5000 weapons from him. That is one reason that you should always start off with small orders first to make sure they will send you tanks.

Anyways I was stupid and didn't check out his profile until after i sent him the money. If i would have known that he was only level 25 with 10 friends one of them being RGR and was a new player. this would have been a dead giveaway that he wouldn't have had 5000 tanks and selling them at such a low price.

Some Tips:

1. Always check out there profile first. Make sure they are at least level 30 or so and that they have been playing for a long time to prevent this. if they are from the AFA or other nontrustable things you find it might not be a good idea. check how many friends they have and do a good amount of research.

2. When you trade make sure to start off small. if you buy 5000 weapons and donate the money first that is very risky. they might not give you your tanks! so buy a small amount first and make sure you get what you want before buying more. this is a great way to prevent risking 1,000's of dollars.

3. Use your best judgement. There is a good chance you will be able to tell if something doesn't seem right. if they are making an offer

using these tips will make you a lot safer when trading and if they don't want to trade only a small amount at a time then don't do business with them. but i do have a good idea for someone.

i don't know how to make a website or anything like you see some people do for like banks or other things. but i think a solution to this problem would be to have a middle man in the equation. you have someone who does this and set up a trading site where you could put an offer of tanks for sale at a certain price. then when you find a buyer they transfer the amount of money to the third party and the person selling the tanks donates the amount of tanks to the same person. The person holding both the money and tanks doesn't start the trade until he receives both. Over time the guy in charge of trading will gain trust and have testimonials from trading. this would prevent scamming because if someone donates the money and the guy selling tanks doesn't donate he will not get the money and the trader will return the money. so let me know what you think. Enjoy your Memorial Day!
