I like IRC, so I think anything that draws more people to it is great. It's my preferred method of eRep communication. If you know about IRC and don't want a refresher, skip over to the next section where I'll introduce a new program open to every eRep player. For those of you who have never tried IRC or want a refresher, WAIT ~ I'll explain it very briefly. Basically, IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a realtime, chatting medium.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a chat system on the Internet. It allows people from around the world to have conversations together, but it can also be used for two people to chat privately.



So, the program. You may have heard us Sheep raving about our graze game that we play in our private channel (see this article to get the essence of that, if you're interested). That's all well and good, but it's more or less limited to members of the Sheep military unit. However, I enjoy talking with others on IRC so much that I wanted something to draw everyone in & tighten our community bond. And that right there is the keywor😛 draw.



Every day, an automatic raffle will take place in #blacksheep (until other channels join in) where anyone can win Q7 tanks. All you need to do? Chat. For every 10 words you type, you get a token ("Hello everyone, my name is eShades and I want free tokens" = token; 500 words typed = 50 tokens). You have to type at least 3 words per line for the bot to count it (just for spam protection). In a rush? Throw out a "Baaa" and get 5 free tokens. You can enter tokens using @enter #OfTokens before the daily drawing at 9 PM ESD (18:00 eRep time). The bot will randomly pick a token from all the entries and whoever has that token wins. Unused tokens get rolled over. Of course, if you enter more tokens, you have a better chance to win.



Winning is great, yea, yea. But the real important detail: how much will you be making here? Well, there's no entry requirements, so you will never lose any money (unlike normal raffles where you need to buy tickets -- those are still pretty fun!). And you might get to know fellow eRep players more closely. I mean, what can beat the ties of newly minted friendships? #Blessed :3 NO ONE CARES eSHADES GET TO THE GOOD STUFF@1$#%eleven!! The starting prize is 10 Q7 tanks. For every 50 tokens entered, the prize increases by 5 tanks. Sooo with 200 tokens entered, the prize is 10 + (200 / 50 * 5) = 30 tanks. Right now, that's how many tokens there are in play and that's only with people in #blacksheep who were paying attention (this article wasn't written and I hadn't shouted about it yet). If you own/administrate any other channels where new players can join to get help, let me know -- I'll be happy to discuss involving your channel! After all, not everyone is active in #blacksheep. Ultimately, the point is to foster community.



Speaking of community -- man, the people in this game. Already, FOUR people have donated/offered to donate tanks to fund this little venture. It's certainly not necessary (I mean, we operate a top 5 party & MU; it ain't cheap). PMG-24 asked me what was the hold up on this program (I came up with the concept about two weeks ago and coded it a week ago); when I told him I wanted to make sure the game would be sustainable in terms of long-term tanks, he immediately offered to fund the first several raffles. Carhugar1 offered a similar service, as did Henry William French. BeachBunny forced 1,000 tanks on me and dared me to send them back to her (srsly gurl, we have tanks!11#$). (Of course, her tanks are pink and not the customized Black Sheep ones, so I'm sorry to anyone who gets those....) I'm sure several of you (who are well-off in this game) reading this had similar thoughts. So yes, this program is here to stay. I urge you guys to stop by #blacksheep and participate in the eUS community.
