Interview with the President of eIreland: Bhane

Day 2,193, 18:45 Published in Ireland Belgium by crosoldier2013

Hi eWorld,
we bring you a short interview with president of eIreland.

For starters, can you introduce us and tell a little about yourself in RL ?

My RL Irish heritage made me choose eIreland as my homeland, but I am from Ohio in the real world. I have 2 Bachelors degrees (financial analysis, and financial planning), and a Masters degree in financial economics. I'm an Irish beanpole, I am super pale, 6' 2", and 125lbs.

You play eRepublik little more than four years, do you remember how you came to it ?

I think I saw someone spam it on a forum. When I came to the home page, it advertised a socioeconomic, geopolitical simulator. As an economist who follows politics, that concept really intrigued me. Unfortunately, every update has made this less economy, and even less diplomacy now. It's just military, which is actually the module I am least interested in.

Are you sorry for the time spent in this game ?

Not at all.

This game has given me something to focus on, and escape from RL. That's what we all play games to do, I think. I'm proud of what I accomplished for eIreland, and I'm always trying to do more. I do not regret my time spent in this community, there are good people here. I'm glad to e-live among them.

Have you ever invest RL money in the game ?

Probably too many times.
I have bought gold to achieve my setup, but I am very proud of it.

I am completely self-sufficient, my WaM clicks actually make more food/weapons than I personally use. I spend no currency on myself except to move. I sell gold for moving cost cc, just so I can honestly say this... "Every drop of cc spent on my tanks goes to my workers, or occasional purchases from eIrish RM suppliers." I'm very proud to be able to say that. People know that when they buy my tanks the IEP flows straight to eIrish salaries which means more spending on our markets, not to mention the income/VAT revenue that comes out of it all. Years ago, when I used to make profit, I still didn't keep a cent for myself. I was the biggest philanthropist in eIreland, donating tanks by the thousands, and helping the treasury pay for MPPs.

Goldbuying is a dirty word for some people, but I do not regret it. The self-sufficiency has allowed me to achieve great things here in eIreland.

Can you describe your political career ?

From the moment I broke on to the scene my primary interest has been financial policy. I tried to spark discussion and debate on things like VAT and income rates whenever possible. My primary goal has always been to make a better game environment for the average citizens. If you make the country better for the 2-clickers, you make the country better for everyone.

I am elected to the dail on a fairly regular basis. Most CPs are happy to add me as some sort of advisor in their administrations. I'm proud to be a voice that people want to hear.

The highlight of my political career thus far has certainly been my first CP term. When I was elected, Eire was wiped with a very aggressive eUK intent on keeping it that way. We liberated some regions, and they fought back. Eventually we freed all our regions. I offered them peace, but they would have none of it. I gave them time to cool down by allowing the war to stalemate at swapping initiative a few times in North Ireland. When I offered peace again, I was rebuffed rather rudely. This left me little choice in what to do next. I marched our little nation across the eUK, and raised the Irish flag over London for the first time in the history of eRep. I left the office with London still in our possession. Our next CP found the new eUK CP to a bit more cooperative, and a white peace was signed. Happy ending.

Are you satisfied with your mandate this month ?

I'm satisfied that I have made progress bringing new faces into positions of leadership. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of Raven, and the work he's doing. I think I can accomplish even more in the next term. I hope to get more new faces involved, and bring back old ones.

What is the current situation in eIreland ?

Fairly stable, actually.
We have all our native regions back again. We have a reputation for punching above our weight, and a good international standing. That makes us an unattractive target, despite our size. Any conquered regions will not likely stay occupied for long, especially given the new FF/determination dynamics.

I'm happy with our current situation. We can focus on fighting for allies to foster even more support for any defense support we may need in the future. Our community seems to be growing closer, even as a few having been trying tear us apart. People who were previously bitter enemies are working side by side, and I think I can convince more to join them.

What are the relations of eIreland and eCroatian ?

Best Friends 4 Life!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How do you see the current state of the eWorld ?

I was very concerned the new occupied tax was going to be the death knell of this game. I was sure every nation except the top 4-5 were doomed to permawipes. But, then this new FF/determination thing was announced and the clouds parted, the sun shone. This is a new age in eRepublik, and small nations are finally breathing some free air. I look forward to see how nations are going to relate, when occupations are so much more difficult to maintain.

I'm very hopeful about the future.

That was it. Thank you for your time and I wish you all the best in the future.

Be well
