NMS: Hi! Thank you for agreeing to the interview and giving us a minute of your precious time! Let’s start with the usual introduction. Tell us a bit about yourself. Who is Freiheitskaempfer?
Freiheitskämpfer: Freiheitskaempfer is one of the few players left from the glorious generation January 2010. He has been working in the German government ever since, willing to do the best for Germany and having worked in every ministry. In real life i'm a 26 year old guy working in sales and distribution.

NMS: What brought you to eRepublik? How and when did you find out about it, and more importantly, what compelled you to stay?
Freiheitskämpfer:There was a thread on a German eSportsite telling that Poland is running over Germany and oppressing it. I couldn't stand the fact that Poles are stronger than mighty Germans so I decided to sign up with at least another 50 people from that site. In the beginning my dream was to take over Germany and have fun like the channers did in Pakistan but after a few weeks I decided to play seriously because Germany really needed help. To be precise, I didn't play constantly since January 2010, i took a break in summer 2010 when version2 was introduced which I didn't like at all. After summer was over and days got shorter, I returned and stood alive.

NMS: What’s your favorite aspect of the game?
Freiheitskämpfer:It's definitely the community and the people hanging on IRC all day long talking shit and posting funny things.

NMS: How much time daily do you waste spend on eRepublik?
Freiheitskämpfer: Back in the days i spent up to 12 hours a day playing eRepublik, now it's maybe an hour or two, depending on the weather and how much work I have to do. Still, IRC is running all the time.

NMS: You’ve been elected as CP seven times. How was that experience like? What got you into politics and encouraged you to candidate?
Freiheitskämpfer: The first two mandates where something special, everything was new, I was the one deciding how Germany's future will look like. Furthermore back then much more metagame was going on, the media was full or articles and comments, we had several political parties working together or against each other, that was more fun. Some of the other medals were not planned, it was simply the fact that nobody else wanted to run for president so I stepped up. I really miss the good old times where the parties actually had an agenda, built coalitions and had fun.

NMS: What are your thoughts on the global situation and politics right now?
Freiheitskämpfer: It's a total mess, the alliances which have been split into more or less two different sides don't exist anymore, we've seen really weird MPPs lately which make it kind of impossible to find a side you want to ally with. As soon as one country attacks another one, you gonna lose MPP, that's pretty hard for the smaller ones. Examples for that are e.g. Serbian MPP with Macedonia, Greece MPP with Turkey or even Germany signing both Poland and Hungary while being allied with Chile.

NMS: What do you think about eGermany’s current position in the eWorld? In your opinion, what is the biggest problem we are currently faced with?
Freiheitskämpfer: I don't think Germany plays an important role at the moment. The current alliance situation is so forked up that midtier-countries are just abused for bonus and strategic region rentals. I'm really missing EDEN versus Phoenix or even Terra vs. ONE, although these alliances weren't equally balanced it was at least possible to claim back your territory and you have a slight chance of winning fights with good coordination and help of your friends. Right now it's not balanced at all, push the walls with COs, make it epic and if you are part of the alliance Serbia is in, you win 99 % of the battles.

NMS: Who do you consider to be eGermany’s best and most faithful allies?
Freiheitskämpfer: Our best allies are hard to tell, during five years we had several best allies starting with Hungary, Slovenia and Russia back in version 1, during the Terra-times the US, while being in Circle of Trust Bulgarians and Chileans did a lot for us.

NMS: You’re an experienced player, with over 5 years of playing time. What moment, event or battle would you single out as your favorite and most memorable?
Freiheitskämpfer: The best moment was the liberation of Brandenburg and Berlin from Poland by Russia in version 1. They came from Kaliningrad and simply ran through Poland to liberate us, that was really cool.

NMS: In your opinion, what was the best eRepublik alliance (to date)?
Freiheitskämpfer: Phoenix.

NMS: Are you satisfied with the changes which have been implemented since you started playing back in 2010, and the overall course this game is taking (shifting focus on buying gold, boosters and packs)?
Freiheitskämpfer: I understand that a company like eRepublik labs needs money to run a game like this. But what I don't understand is the constant will not to listen to players. 95% of the updates where nothing else but s***.

NMS: What changes do you think should be implemented into eRepublik?
Freiheitskämpfer: All that is left right now is the military module which is, for me, absolutely boring as long as there is nothing to struggle for. I really don't give a damn f*** about the 234th wipe of Bulgaria or Chile or any other country. The economic profit of conquering a country is not worth the effort. The political module is dead due to the limited possibilities of changing something. The economic module is dead due to work as manager, overproduction and every region having a high bonus. If I could change stuff I'd definitely remove work as manager, remove resources in every region and remove the natural enemy law cause wars and fully conquering a country should be something special and not an everyday's thing.

NMS: What do you think about eGermany’s community and eGermany as a whole? Have you formed any lasting friendships (or animosities) with other citizens?
Freiheitskämpfer: Germany is a great country, I met lots of awesome people here, some of them are even meeting each other in real life next week.

NMS: Thank you for your time! Is there anything else you would like to say or add?
Freiheitskämpfer: Thanks for the interview, Slayer10 is a faget.

There you have it folks. Once again, I thank Freiheitskämpfer for agreeing to the interview. If you've liked the article, vote, subscribe, endorse & shout. If not, tell me what I'm doing wrong via the comments or PM. If you have any suggestions for future interviews, or any suggestions overall regarding my newspaper, feel free to post them here.
