A Poem for the Holiday Season (well, kind of)…

Ice giants, who are they? Where do they come from? And why are they only visible during armed conflicts? A few questions we need to ask ourselves prior to embarking on this journey to the outer reaches of Platos’ warped mind. I, at first was skeptical thinking to myself that this was nothing more than a farce, make believe, a fairy tale created by Plato to fill our imagination with angst and fear.
I fought and fought and fought some more and still no sign of this demon from the nether ice world. With my earlier premonitions regarding Plato’s ill-humored fantasy gaining strength I was ready to give up the pillaging and carnage for this season’s celebratory war. But low and behold out of the blue, in the heat of battle appears this giant sized icicle with sharp edged teeth and prying eyes, at first I was taken aback not sure what to make of this ogre like creature. As my heart and mind raced, overwhelmed by fear, losing all ability to properly wage war, I realized that this giant was not there to torment us but to reward us for our valiant effort. The generosity that spewed from this glob of frozen water truly warmed the cockles of our hearts.
No…this festive season we will not go hungry with lack of strength, but rather gain the ability to go on warring. All because this gentle heathen beast has come bearing energy gifts so that all may plunder and dish out maximum damage. Ice Giant, you are what the holiday season is all about, the joy of giving and receiving.
Thanks to Plato and the Ice Giant, and to all seasons’ greetings.
