[RockPaperScissors] Are you up to the challenge?

Day 2,466, 10:17 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Addaway

After three months of talking about starting a Rock Paper Scissors competition, we’ve finally got round to it. The inaugural eUK Rock Paper Scissors League is upon us.

Because the admins are lazy we don’t have access to the RPS Org, so that’s why I’m publishing from my own paper. So, the RPS league will consist of 10 players, competing for a total prize pot of 17,500cc. This is just a test league, in future we will be expanding the league and hopefully introduce a knock out tournament, depending on funding.

So, how will it actually work?

It’s actually pretty simple. We have our very own IRC Channel #RockPaperScissors with our very own RPS Bot to run the game (Big thanks to ApronChef for scripting us a bot).

To initiate a game of RPS, you type !challenge , and then the player you challenged will type !accept or !deny. Once a challenge is accpeted the RPS bot will query each player asking for their pick or Rock, Paper or Scissors. Once both submit their choice the Bot will declare the correct side the winner.

Each game of RPS will best of three rounds of RPS, with any that are drawn being replayed until the score is 2-0 or 2-1.

Each player in the league will play each other twice, making a total of 18 matches per player. Each round of matches will have to be played within 48 hours of the last round being concluded (fixture lists will be published well in advance.) So, there will be 18 rounds of matches lasting no more than 36 days.

The first round of games will begin this coming Sunday, 24th August.

A win will be worth 3 points. If the losing player wins one round (and loses 2-1) they will get one point. If the losing player wins 0 rounds, they get nothing

In the event of a tie on points, the players are separated in the league table on the number of total rounds won subtracted by the total number of rounds lost (bout Difference)

Each match will have one RPS adjudicator presiding over it.

As I mentioned earlier, the total prize pot for this inaugural championship will be 17,500cc, split as follows:

Yep, the eventual winner of the league will be taking home 10,000cc and the prestige of being the first eUK Official Rock Paper Scissors Champion.

Putting yourself forward to compete in this elite competition involves either PMing me to register your interest, or getting in touch with us on #RockPaperScissors

Being active on IRC is essential to compete, If we get more than 10 IRC active entrants then selection will be by random draw. You have until the end of Saturday to let us know you want to play.
