[Intellectual] A token CP debate for yer

Day 2,661, 11:37 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Sir Humphrey Appleby

Getting all of them to take part was rather difficult...

Good evenin' gents, hope you're all nicely trashed in preparation for your monthly purpose in life - namely to obediently vote in the Country Presidential elections.

This upcoming term we have a threeway battle for the gilded whisky cabinet: Huey, Serf and RobTheBruce. They have kindly provided various lies and deceit about what would make them the ideal choice over the other...

First to respond was Ser F!

Proposed foreign policy objective:

a. I'll continue talking to everyone across the spectrum and see where UK can find common interest with other countries. Foreign policy in eRepublik comes down to how many influential players you know and how often you chat with them. So, I'll continue talking with everyone as much as I can.

We have no real alliance right now and there is no need to be part of one.

b. We need to keep bonuses we have now to grow our community and to get another one if possible through a new rent deal.

Proposed foreign policy objective:

a. Taxes should remain the same for now as they present an insignificant burden for the worker and mean a lot to the country.

b. The government should continue giving out training ground loans and maybe finance good articles and media activity. Media is what keeps this game alive.

Proposed social events and personal style of presidency (how you would be better for the month than others >_>)

In the case I get elected, there's a new theme ready. No more Fresh Prince and Bananas. Maybe I say something more about it in my manifesto article.

Compared to Huey, I think that I'll be giving a lot more safe drama. Safe because we won't be reduced to only one region before getting wiped and losing all Treasury money on one battle that we didn't win.

Compared to Rob, I won't put gali in my Cabinet or anywhere near MoD.

Compared to both, you'll be able to find me on IRC every day.

Next up was Rob

Proposed foreign policy objectives

a. Gotta mantain dat neutrality, alliances suck ass right now

b. Military-wise the priority is gonna be keeping our bonuses, though I'd discuss with mongress and the cabinet about potential targets for wars to keep everybody entertained in the war module's monotony of clicking one button over and over for 15 minutes.

Proposed financial bullshittery

a. Tax levels should stay the same, works just fine.

b. Keep dem TG loans workin'... actually saying that I think there's one from ages ago I haven't paid back.... hm...

Proposed social events

Articles will be my usual style of minimal effort, MoEd will be parody MoEd so I don't have to put much effort into entertaining people myself.

Other irrelevant bullshit
If I win, Gali ain't in my cabinet and I'll up my irc activity as required.

Any other plans are completely reliant on my messy improvisation, so that'll be banter.

Compared to my opponents, I'm probably more the lolz candidate, I only ran 'cause at the time I looked at the candidate list it was fucking abysmal as SerF and Huey hadn't announced their runs.

And finally Huey

Proposed foreign policy objectives

a. political alliance support

Discuss with Congress all our current MPPs are they come to expire to consider their renewal together.
Explore avenues for new friendships / MPPs to put forward for Congressional discussion including strategically important MPPs with countries as future situations required.

I'd also seek to expand the UK citizenry understanding of our current position in this 'new world' and why we are allied with those we are allied with currently and why we are not allied with others. Giving an opportunity for all in the UK to feel informed and inform government of their views.

b. military aims

Support all allied war efforts and when possible keep the UK in direct conflict most of the times. Support our MUs with clear chain of command to protect the interests of ourselves (maintain our bonuses) and our allies. Respond positively to feedback, advice and challenges.

Proposed financial initiatives

a. tax levels

Taxation levels are the remit of Congress and will remain the remit of Congress under my Country Presidency. However I will ensure the Ministry of Finance will have good citizens in post to inform, advise and guide Congress.

b. government funding

Training Ground and Pro Training Contract loans will remain available to UK citizens. Outside and during promotional periods.

Promote once again the availability to rent UK organisations.

Proposed social events and personal style of presidency

Informative, communicative and reflective. I’d like to reflect the majority of the eUK citizenship by working closely with the Congress chosen to represent them to choose together the direction the country heads. I feel with this power we'd choose as a community to live in a fairer and more enjoyable society.

The eUK finds itself in uncertain times, we need respect in public dialogue to set a positive example that elevates the quality of politics in our country. This have nevermore been more important as we have some difficult decisions to make as a country with regards to the rise of the Dictatorship module in this 'new world'. We need to enable a more intelligent dialogue on public issues to attract all citizens to take part. This will rise us all above the partisanship and elitism which at times threaten to cripple our country. We need to consult and communicate well as elected representatives to all citizens in our society. So together we can discuss and agree the future of the UK.

My Presidential Pledges are;
A national referendum will be held regarding the future our Dictatorship
The eUK public are responsible and resilient and require only a fair and supportive government which I will oversee.
The Dictator (if present), CP office and Congress will work together to achieve outcomes.

I'm not sure I'd consider myself a 'better' candidate than either Serf or Rob, both are true patriots which have done a great deal for the Country. Rob has been a tremendous community minded citizen with an outstanding political aptitude. I don't think there is an aspect of eUK life SerF hasn't influenced and for the most part made better.

I just offer an alternative choice for the citizens of the UK as a result of my experience, style of communication and the pace I take this new world at.

And there you have it! A mandatory mildly funny picture for making it to the end...
