[Fataliix4CP] Cabinet and Economic Recovery
Fataliix
There are no pictures. Sorry. Just look at the names if you want a tl;dr.
I'd like to start by saying thank you UKRP & TUP for your support. With regards to the latter, it's great to know that I've changed some minds this last month.
As the main theme for my candidacy is continuity and stability, don't be surprised to see a number of familiar faces in my cabinet this month. Despite this, there has been plenty of shuffling and replacement. Here's your government for May.
Vice President - Max Blue
Max was kind enough to offer his services in making the VP position actually worth the time. As the man with the freshest CP experience in the country, he'll be an asset to government whilst continuing his work with the Ministry of Education.
Max comes with the added bonus of already being well-connected with our allies. He's really the best guy to be VP as he can pick up the slack whilst I'm off making nachos.
Ministry of Defence - WookieO & Paul Tyndale
Deputies: Mad Pauly & Lord of Bones
Wook and Paul have lead the MoD through April, and I'm pleased to say that both have agreed to stay on. Their insight and planning has been invaluable this month and I'm sure that won't change.
Lord of Bones has been excellent since joining the team halfway through April and will continue his work alongside Mad Pauly, who has expressed an interest in the MoD.
We will carry on maintaining the spreadsheet as well as seeing the return of regular MoD articles (as soon as we have the org) featuring a fantastic new tool developed by Scarfar.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - KearoB
I said it last month, but I'll say it again. Foreign Affairs is a position that can only be held by someone you trust absolutely. KearoB is that person and has months of prior experience to boot.
Ministry of Finance - Sir Humphrey Appleby
Deputies: NigelFarage & Lord of Bones
Hopefully a bit less controversial than last month, right?
😛
Recent Dictator hopeful and resurgent oldfag, Appleby has several months prior experience in just about every ministry, including Finance.
Supporting him will be NigelFarage, who has recently been devising a better immigration system for Congress to use & I'm happy to see is getting even more involved.
Lord of Bones will also join the MoF on the back of some great economic articles as well as a successful tax campaign. Given his interest in basically every ministry, LoB will probably end up CP at this rate.
Ministry of Home Affairs - Aaron Mark Daniels & Alexander Atem
Deputy: Max Blue
Aaron Mark Daniels will handle the entertainment side of Home Affairs this month. Look to see some kind of tournament, probably Civ V, in which you can kick my butt instead of impeaching me.
Alexander Atem has agreed to handle the educational side of Home Affairs, something which he is already doing. He'll also be attempting to start a baby boom, as he has experience with doing so in other countries. Worth a shot, huh?
I put Max as deputy just because I find it funny. He'll educate the crap out of you.
Economic Recovery
So we all know our financial situation is bollocks right now. Now, we have succeeded in attaining peace with France thanks to Scarfar. This makes things a lot easier.
We'll need to take a look at our income and expenditure over a period longer than just the past few days, which Appleby will do as soon as we have the necessary information. I'd like to see a work tax decrease to the lowest suitable level whilst continuing to operate at a surplus. Right now, this looks like it will be 2%. We'll also examine the VAT increase and see if that has really made a difference, with a view to lowering it.
We'll also look into the possibility of renewing our rent deal with Norway and getting those 10/10 bonuses back, so this cost will have to be factored in.
We've lost a significant chunk of the income we were gaining from players here for bonuses, and we need low taxes to compete with other countries. There have been calls for us to match their tax rates, but we simply can't guarantee the same stability that they do. We need to provide other incentives.
This will lead into us advertising the country as a cheap place for suppliers to settle. This pushed us past 10k a day in taxes not long ago, so let's try and get there again.
There was a lot more to discuss here, but thankfully the peace with France has made that unnecessary. This is great, it means we can get back to more important things like providing training ground grants/loans and building up our CO funds.
Handsome bunch, aren't they?
Let's have some fun this month. \o/
In Accordance with the Prophecy,

If you'd prefer to criticise my choices in private, would like to be involved in government, or have any ideas on how we could be doing this better, feel free to message me or hunt me down on IRC. #Boyfriends @ Rizon. I'm always there if I'm online.
A safe cabinet for sure, but minus yourself as CP, and KearoB as MoFA, is there any real new blood in the positions of power? Having Appleby as MoF is a missed opportunity to get some fresh blood into the cabinet; if you wanted a steady and experienced hand there are several with more experience, and certainly with more interest in the game than him.
One thing that was brought up in TUP, and something I definitely agree with is the complete lack of communication with the UK population in terms of Foreign Affairs. Sure, people from many major allies and previous allies have praised the way you handled yourself this month, but apart from the behind closed doors activity, the progress you have made was rarely communicated to the UK population at large. Will KearoB be tasked with improving this next month?
Also, a tax decrease before we even have the chance to see what our income looks like is premature IMO - the savings for the individual are negligible - the more you have the more you pay; so those with a tax bill like mine of 100GBP+, are people who can afford to pay it.
We should be rebuilding war reserves for anti-MTO actions, and in case of invasion in the future; this is achieved quicker with a higher tax rate. Is anyone really calling for a decrease? At 100/100 economy, a 4% tax rate still allows for acceptable profits.
Can I remind everyone that the tax increase was put in place as a temporary measure until such time as our territories were liberated - and we are just about at that state now.
Filling the Treasury with funds only makes us a juicier target for unwanted attention - and whenever we *REALLY*need funds they will appear (Witness the Scarfar intevention at a time when eUK was broke and effectively disassembled).
Let us get our taxes down, bonuses re-engaged - and concentrate on encouraging industry, commerce and immigration - all of which are far better feeders for sustainable growth than tax!
With regards to your first comment, I absolutely was looking for experience in this cabinet. I'm not averse to adding new players, but I do believe they should have deputy experience before assuming a full ministerial position. Note that both deputies in the MoF are new to government.
Appleby's interest in the game seems to have caught fire again, if I see any sign of that changing I will act immediately. This is why we have a couple new guys learning the ropes.
I agree with that too. During Huey's term we had to keep a lot of information quiet. Congress knew about it as soon as they could, but even then we had to rely on no leaks. Huey released short snippets in some of his CP articles, but that's all we could say.
Now, after chatting with Max and Serf I was set to write an article on it earlier this month. And then that very day, we were attacked by MEK who promptly invalidated the MPPs I was going to discuss.
It's all been a bit ridiculous, but either myself or Kieran will absolutely be briefing the public on our foreign affairs shortly.
The tax increase was implemented with the expectation of a long war with France which would require us to improve our regular income if we didn't want to be wiped. The increase was promised as temporary, for wartime.
Now, I was careful with my wording. Tax won't go down if it means we can't build up our reserves. But if we can start getting back to 10k+ a day on 1%, as we were before, that's a hell of a lot better than 7-8k a day on 3%.
I've gotta stop here, going out. 😛 I hope some of this explained things a bit further.
Oh sorry, 10k+ at 2%. Luke called me out before I even commented.
Oh - and - this is a solid Cabinet - selected with careful thought and foresight.
Strongly endorsed.
Fata4CP!
Fata maybe 4 CP depends on what my party says o7
Just because the party endorses a person doesn't mean you have to vote for them, that's the way we've always rolled at the UKPP
Why don,'t you have a mind of your own?
I have a high expectation for you to get us 15k cc/day everyday with only 2% work tax and 2% VAT. like the old days. Also, we need to advertise ourselves, using Sirius Travel Agency org or something. 😛
I'm sure you can do it. o/
Indeed - and the best way to increase tax revenues is to stimulate commercial activity by lowering taxes and by ensuring that we have a full set of production bonuses! This will also attract immigrants (who in turn become citizens and pay taxes)!
Well, you are probably the next CP o7
Fata4CP o7
Well I can back that

Did you enjoy the sly mention?
Stunning.
For no other reason as I'm curious, who is/was KearoB, did someone old buy Alan warwickshire's account?
KieranB. Alan gave it to him free.
Solid cabinet. Lots of experience as ministers with some new blood as deputies. Looks good!
Good looking cabinet. Especially that cat in the MoD. o7
