[Fataliix4CP] Cabinet and Economic Recovery

Day 2,721, 21:36 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Fataliix

There are no pictures. Sorry. Just look at the names if you want a tl;dr.

I'd like to start by saying thank you UKRP & TUP for your support. With regards to the latter, it's great to know that I've changed some minds this last month.

As the main theme for my candidacy is continuity and stability, don't be surprised to see a number of familiar faces in my cabinet this month. Despite this, there has been plenty of shuffling and replacement. Here's your government for May.

Vice President - Max Blue

Max was kind enough to offer his services in making the VP position actually worth the time. As the man with the freshest CP experience in the country, he'll be an asset to government whilst continuing his work with the Ministry of Education.
Max comes with the added bonus of already being well-connected with our allies. He's really the best guy to be VP as he can pick up the slack whilst I'm off making nachos.

Ministry of Defence - WookieO & Paul Tyndale
Deputies: Mad Pauly & Lord of Bones

Wook and Paul have lead the MoD through April, and I'm pleased to say that both have agreed to stay on. Their insight and planning has been invaluable this month and I'm sure that won't change.

Lord of Bones has been excellent since joining the team halfway through April and will continue his work alongside Mad Pauly, who has expressed an interest in the MoD.
We will carry on maintaining the spreadsheet as well as seeing the return of regular MoD articles (as soon as we have the org) featuring a fantastic new tool developed by Scarfar.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs - KearoB

I said it last month, but I'll say it again. Foreign Affairs is a position that can only be held by someone you trust absolutely. KearoB is that person and has months of prior experience to boot.

Ministry of Finance - Sir Humphrey Appleby
Deputies: NigelFarage & Lord of Bones

Hopefully a bit less controversial than last month, right? 😛
Recent Dictator hopeful and resurgent oldfag, Appleby has several months prior experience in just about every ministry, including Finance.

Supporting him will be NigelFarage, who has recently been devising a better immigration system for Congress to use & I'm happy to see is getting even more involved.
Lord of Bones will also join the MoF on the back of some great economic articles as well as a successful tax campaign. Given his interest in basically every ministry, LoB will probably end up CP at this rate.

Ministry of Home Affairs - Aaron Mark Daniels & Alexander Atem
Deputy: Max Blue

Aaron Mark Daniels will handle the entertainment side of Home Affairs this month. Look to see some kind of tournament, probably Civ V, in which you can kick my butt instead of impeaching me.
Alexander Atem has agreed to handle the educational side of Home Affairs, something which he is already doing. He'll also be attempting to start a baby boom, as he has experience with doing so in other countries. Worth a shot, huh?

I put Max as deputy just because I find it funny. He'll educate the crap out of you.

Economic Recovery
So we all know our financial situation is bollocks right now. Now, we have succeeded in attaining peace with France thanks to Scarfar. This makes things a lot easier.
We'll need to take a look at our income and expenditure over a period longer than just the past few days, which Appleby will do as soon as we have the necessary information. I'd like to see a work tax decrease to the lowest suitable level whilst continuing to operate at a surplus. Right now, this looks like it will be 2%. We'll also examine the VAT increase and see if that has really made a difference, with a view to lowering it.
We'll also look into the possibility of renewing our rent deal with Norway and getting those 10/10 bonuses back, so this cost will have to be factored in.

We've lost a significant chunk of the income we were gaining from players here for bonuses, and we need low taxes to compete with other countries. There have been calls for us to match their tax rates, but we simply can't guarantee the same stability that they do. We need to provide other incentives.
This will lead into us advertising the country as a cheap place for suppliers to settle. This pushed us past 10k a day in taxes not long ago, so let's try and get there again.

There was a lot more to discuss here, but thankfully the peace with France has made that unnecessary. This is great, it means we can get back to more important things like providing training ground grants/loans and building up our CO funds.

Handsome bunch, aren't they?
Let's have some fun this month. \o/
