[eUSA] Run for Speaker of the House

Day 3,023, 16:38 Published in USA USA by Blande

I could probably begin by saying Congress is broken. I could rail against the bitter nature of some Congress debates. I could even begin this article by lambasting the state of eUSA as a whole; drawing parallels between the greater community and Congress. All of these will be valid ways to start of, but they will just take away from what I want to set out to do. My message therefore will be a positive one. One of what I would set out to do and how I'll do it, should I be elected Speaker of the House for this Congressional session.

My Speaker of the House campaign focuses on two main things:

1. Providing an atmosphere where debates can be had in a respectful manner.
2. Ensuring that eUSA citizens are kept abreast of the issues Congress is dealing with, both on the forum and in-game.

The goals of this campaign have been intentionally kept small in recognition to the fact that change is hard to bring about. I'll like to be able to promise my fellow Congressmembers and the citizens of the eUSA great positive changes, but that doesn't just happen. We have to make changes incrementally and these would be good starting points.

In order to achieve these goals, I plan on having a great team around me, with 3 deputy Speakers and a Congressional Librarian. Two of the deputy Speakers will be instrumental in assisting me in monitoring Congress debates and ensuring they are respectful and done in a proper format. The other deputy and the Congressional Librarian would be responsible for posting vote totals and Congress discussion in-game through the use of tools like The Speaker's Word.

These are the main aspects of my campaign for the Speakership and I hope to have the support of my fellow Congress-members in this endeavor. It's time for us to do something about the hostility in Congress and the lack of an in-game presence of our politics.
