[Don] Lessons learned

Day 4,005, 11:44 Published in Ireland Croatia by Khutawyra101

Hello Eire!

It’s been a fun few days, not as much of fun as we probably wanted, but better than what we had before. Our Airstrike on North Korea was an expected event to happen at this point of development of our country. We’ve been growing in numbers when it comes to damage, people in the Republic and most importantly we’ve been improving our internal organization for the past several months.

The fruit of that hard work is having more than 20 active soldiers who can when needed provide huge amounts of damage and accomplish the goals set. We’re building on the strong foundation of our history, reputation and smart use of game mechanics. We’re still very limited, but I believe we’re going to improve much more.

Airstrike on North Korea

Before the Airstrike happened we’ve reached the point in which we need to take the next step to give people something to fight for. We’ve been looking for available targets for weeks, even months, but nothing good ever came. There wasn’t some great goal, strategy or planning behind Airstrike on North Korea, we just went for it. Even before the Airstrike we knew it’s gonna be hard to land and have some serious battle against much stronger opponent, but we still wanted to see where we are.

I think we can draw several important conclusions after the airstrike. Main conclusion is that we’ve improved a lot since the last time we had an actual war. Second conclusion is that this game has turned much more into pay2win and smart use of bots. Sadly, Admins aren’t really doing much to stop that as they probably consider this kind of playing style as the most profitable one.

It’s really hard to stay motivated and keep working when you can lose by someone who has too many real money, or scripts which work like a gem any time they need some free damage. We’ve had real people behind our attack, real Irish soldiers, brave fighters who were ready to fight much stronger side in a fair way and we’ve faced the other side with bot army and huge amounts of money being spent in the battles. It’s all part of the game and that’s the way we should see it. The only thing we can is learn the lessons and adopt to improve our own side. Each country works with what they have. We don’t have scripts, we don’t have bots, but we have something which might not win us battles, but will surely provide much more fun. Because, what’s the point of winning if you have no one to share your happiness with?

Finally, we’ll have to regroup now, organize even better and maximize our own strengths to be better prepared in the future. Romania and China provided a good fight, we just hoped it would last for longer time.

Last and the most important conclusion we can make is that our allies aren’t nearly as organized or ready for a fight as we thought, but let’s leave this topic for the next part of the article.

You can’t score if you don’t shoot

While we’ve been building our community we did many strikes for our allies, we were always there when they needed our help. I don’t remember the last time we said ‘No’ to our allies and I’m proud on that. Ireland is known for being a good ally. We even fund other country’s and their projects, we’re honestly looking to help a friend in need. When it comes to helping allies I can surely say that there’s no one who did more for their friends than Ireland. Especially when you take our size into consideration.

It’s natural that we’ve been expecting to receive the same treatment by them. However, it didn’t happen. I’m still trying to figure out what was wrong, but before we’ve placed some CO’s almost no one (cheers to the few individuals) didn’t come to help us out and gives us a push when we needed it. If that happened we’d probably fight even stronger and hit harder than we did.

There are two reasons for this. First one is the fact that this game is based on the individuals, citizens who take care of themselves and individual countries who are taking care only for themselves too. TP medals are one of the main reason behind it. We couldn’t believe that there were two Epics in the same time we had a battle we considered to be important ones. It’s incredibly sad that happens, especially if you’re, like me, one of those who plays this game for years and remember how it used to be. Obviously things changed, so we’ll have to change out attitude towards our allies as well. Considering the current gameplay of Erepublik this is going to be hard to change unless there are charismatic leadership who enjoy fighting for their allies and push their nations to do so. Until that happens everyone will just keep farming in their TW’s and open battles while their allies need help. The game is in a sad state and money driven only. Hopefully Admins will realize that long termly that will kill the game. Is it that hard to realize people would be buying much more if they’d have something to fight for except TP medals and Prestige points?

The second reason behind lack of help by our allies is most likely the organization of ‘our side’ if we can call it that way after today. While there are messages which includes different Governments of ‘Anti Asteria’ countries there’s not much use by that. I can’t comprehend why is there no central organization such as a real HQ, a formal alliance which would actually have people in charge of military strategy and long term planning.

I’ve seen how the current HQ’s are working and it’s impossible to work that way and still defeat enemy who does everything we should be doing. Posting battle Prio’s in a message no one cares about except when they require help is no use to anyone involved. We should either dissolve that and proclaim neutrality or do things the right way.

Our side needs a formal alliance, roles within the alliance and rules being respected by its members. Being a member of an alliance should bring many obligations and it should be functioning as an army with highly organized and well planned actions & goals. We don’t have it and honestly I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Is there any more love?

The main reason I absolutely love Ireland is that we actually care for our allies. Our people enjoy fighting for them and helping them. In the same time we have several military masterminds who are very happy to make plans and organize stuff. And they do it well. We have that unique set of strength in people we’ve gathered under the Irish banners. That’s probably the only reason which keeps me playing.

However, it seems like the rest of the World has forgotten about love for their allies or making plans. Last few months, or even years have been simply working along as things happen. There are no long term plans, there’s no strategy or any kind of united diplomacy by our allies. We’re miles away from Asteria and it looks like there’s no one who even cares about it. We’re relying on people spending tons of money to place CO’s and win few battles after which we just lose again and go into the period of losing the battles until someone with the cash shows up again. That strategy would only make sense if it would be some transition phase to the organized alliance and bunch of friends who would coordinate and make plans together.

It will be interesting to see what’s gonna happen with all of this in the future, but if things doesn’t change we’ll take the steps required to keep growing. Maybe it’s time to care just for Ireland and adopt to the modern game. I hope it’s not, but we’re being pushed in the corner right now. Because, what’s the point in doing anything else?

Luck of the Irish

We’ve built something great in here. In the given situation of the game we’ve raised troops that still live and play like in the good old times, with pride and passion. I’d rather have that than the whole Chinese army and Romanian CO even if that means we’ll lose few battles and wars.

We can be proud of our community which showed incredible support and togetherness in this war and now there’s even more motive for us all who try to organize things internally to keep doing the same. I’m moving back to making money for our citizen and will have no packs for a while. I simply don’t want to spent hardly gained RL money on a game which supports the current situation. Don’t misunderstand me, I’ll be more active than ever, just focused on other things.
