Theft of government money

Dear citizens,
For the sake of transparency the government has decided to publish this article.
As privacy is important we will not disclose any names but we know that the citizens involved in this scandal will recognize themselves.
Some time ago a former Government Official stole money from the Government. For that he used a governmental organization where big amounts of money where donated (about 15K of NLG)
This person used it to get his first medal of Hero as he bought weapons with it. Some persons noticed it and reported it to the Government.
The Government started an investigation and asked the former Government Official to explain himself. Most of his arguments where totally false or unfounded but he promised to pay everything back. He started directly to pay 25 gold back. The last 37,66 gold where paid by another citizen.
The Government asked the offender of this scandal to make it public by himself. When he started to write a false article about a “test” he was doing, the Government decided to publish the article with the real facts.
The facts:
- Stole 3800 NLG and 60 HUF from the Government
- Used a Governmental Organization to buy weapons for his own benefit
- Donate Governmental money to organizations without the consent of the Government
Government’s decision:
- Pay the equivalent back of stolen money in Gol😛
62,66 Gold
- No jobs in the Government for at least 6 months
- Government will not work with the offender and his companies for 6 months
The Government condemns in the strongest terms that Government Officials misused their function for their personal benefits.

That happens when everybody has passwords, and even people without them get access because stuff isn't dealt with properly in the first place.

Not sure if I can believe this. What was the guy's post within the government.
If you have concrete evidence then have the guts to name to perpetrator of this crime.
In addition we need to tighten up who proposes 'donations' in-game (under Country Administration) as I have seen Congressman (outside of the Finance Minister/Minister for Goldmarket) making proposals that I have not always seen posted on the forum.
There is always the discussion whether to publish the name or not. Government will usually choose not to publish a name to protect the person. On the other hand, should a person who does something really wrong be protected?
Government organisations shouldn't be used for personal gain.
For sure it has to be publish.
In which society do we live?
Someone steals money from the government, but we don't get to know who it was?
Okay, this is bad.
Instead of now revealing who it was, rumours will be floating around and what if those rumours settle down on somebody innocent? I truely believe that it is better to publish the name so that everything is out in the open and we can move on.
I guess they expect the culprit to aknowledge by himself what he has done.

Which ministers were active and left duty recently ?
Who has received a medal recently ?
The intersection of those set is not that big I guess.
Which minister outpassed his rights?
A long time minister who have quit recently in job, always working on the same ministry. It will be more easy for him.
No pity for cheaters
Okay, I'll give the government and the offender time until midnight. After that I'll put forward a proposal in congress to force the publication of the name through a debate and a vote.
In any case, I'll also put forward a proposal to regulate this in a nice proper manner for future cases.

I agree with most of the clamour, if you are going to work with goverment transparancy then we do need to know which member of goverment has abused his position.
Alternatively we could browse the goverment accounts, seek donations to people that have a battle hero medal and then do a big discussion on who it could be.

Im just saying, donation histories are public... so are battle hero medals. So it IS something that could be found out by non-gov involved people.

Even if he payed back, this is theft from the UNL, and we should not take this lightly!
If you ask me: Name + Out of official positions for life + no priviliges (subsidies etc.)

Such behavior is a shame for a responsible and respectable politician in a democratic ecountry. He lost his/her credibility and the confidence of the citizens.
I agree with the sanctions that Flando suggested, besides of those chosen by our Government: how can we trust in the future somebody who stole public founds ?!
I don't think it is fair to post this article, especially if the person in question already payed back the money. I think that when someone does a lot for the country and makes one mistake, he/she doesn't have to be sold out like this to the public. Just my opinion.

Read the facts, ask the one who did it. Check donation lists. You will find out.

The government is giving this information, so it should be clear when you are accusing someone even when it is true. That big amounts of money are donated to a defense org is not of importance.
And why is that last fact important also in this story?

And be sure to only publish the first letter of his last name! xD Without police, yet a friggin police state we are! If the government wants to be transparent, it should post about this at the moment of the investigation or shortly afterward. Not when the case is solved, when the suspect payed back the money. With a weird article stating the crimes but not who commit them. Post everything, or post nothing, for with this you can expect the reactions.

In my humble opinion, this person should never be allowed in government again. Not ever.
But of course it isn't up to me to decide that, it is up to the electorate to decide to vote for him or not, should he decide to run for elections (party of congress or whatever) some other time in the future.
And if the electorate doesn't know of his past, then how can they make an informed choice? I say you are not disclosing VERY RELEVANT information here.
Protect the guy? Screw that. It is him that consciously decided to put his hand in the cookiejar. And he's not being convicted, we simply are (or should be) informed.
