How Do I Use IRC?
Funky 24
Prospective Party Presidential candidate Jason Welsh recently released an article for an upcoming military strike, where citizens can receive some valuable goods in exchange for putting down some damage at an unspecified time and on an unspecified IRC channel. Whether or not this is for MDP members only, that I believe is not the biggest question most players will ask. With the advent of chat rooms for Military Units (MUs) and Combat Orders (COs), Internet Relay Chat (IRC) has fallen into disuse as of late. It would be fair to say that most new players are unaware of it, let alone possess the knowledge for accessing it.
For the purposes of updating people, I, Funky 24, copied some information below for players that are unfamiliar with IRC and are looking for a place where they can chat players throughout eRepublikendom and receive supplies.
To get onto IRC the quickest route can be http://mibbit.com/chat where you will be shown a log-in screen. Here, the "webirc" network you need to select is “Rizon”. Then just type in a username and select #eCan as your channel. You can join other IRC Channels by typing the command “j/” followed by the channel you want to join. Example: "/j #eCan"
If you know of any alternative measures for accessing IRC, please post them in the comment section below.
For more info on IRC, such as registering your nickname, you can follow the instructions below, courtesy of eCanada's old forum:
“So, to register your nickname:
1. Make sure you're using the nickname you want to register. If you're not using the nickname you want to register, use this command to change nicknames:
/nick yournickname
2. Type the following command to register the nickname:
/msg nickserv register PASSWORD EMAILADDRESS
This command tells nickserv (the nickname system) that you want to register your current nickname, using the password 'PASSWORD' and the email address 'EMAILADRRES'. Note: Yahoo email addresses don't work for some reason, so try another email account.
3. If you have entered it correctly, nickserv will respond with the following message:
"A passcode has been sent to EMAILADDRESS, please type /msg NickServ confirm
4. Check your email address that you used to register for the passcode. You'll have received an email from the Rizon Admins about the registration. The email will instruct you how to complete the registration. Copy the text in quotes in the email (example text is shown below) and paste it into the Rizon tab. Makes sure there are no spaces before the / or else it won't work properly.
Example text: /msg NickServ confirm JiBber1sh
6. Nickserv will respond with the message:
Nickname YOURNICKNAME registered under your account: _____________ Your password is YOURPASSWORD - remember this for later use.
Registration is now complete.”

SHORT VERSION:
Take heavy object like clothes iron or fondue pot and smash cover over power outlet to remove. Next take a fork and jab repeatedly into open outlet until you feel the IRC. The sensation is quite noticeable and distinct so there should be no difficulty to know you have found IRC. When you have desire to talk to someone on the internet just jab the fork back into the power outlet until IRC is felt. Eventually, over time, you will have less desire to speak on the internet. You quite possibly may move to a location such as a cave that has no electricity whatsoever.
How has the Presidency been for you?
I use IceChat, I quite like it! 😃
