Duck and Cover: An Airstrike Analysis

Day 2,343, 04:41 Published in USA Poland by Wild Owl

The formation of Sirius and Asteria led at the start of this year, followed by Aurora shortly afterwards, led to a new e-World order that many had awaited for a long time. TWO had completely dominated the landscape for months with multiple member countries holding full bonuses and many others expanding to their full potential. Generally, Asteria has been the more aggressive of the two “bigger” alliances, planning and executing offenses with positive results, at least in the short term, only to fail in the mid-to-long term. This article takes a look back at the various Airstrikes attempted by countries and their results in the past few months.

Argentina air striking Bulgarian Belarus and removing Bulgaria’s Congress took place before TWO was disbanded, but was an important factor in world developments. The Argentinians then marched into Russia, taking most of the country until they were blocked by USA in “the Great Wall of Siberia”. Later on, Argentina was able to get a NAP with Russia and moved to Estonia and Latvia. It was only after direct war with Spain and several strong RW attempts by Brazil in Latin America, that Argentina was finally removed from Europe.

Romania, which got the top position in the last MU competition, got 2x determination in all battles for 10 days, and used it to Airstrike Spain. It was an interesting move and Spain had to hold onto its Canadian regions to insure a Congress that month. Eventually, thanks to a joint Spanish-Mexican operation, Romania was removed from Spain after its determination ran out.

Peru was able to temporarily escape South America to move into the Middle East with the blessing of Asteria HQ. They were removed by Turkey in a brilliantly planned offensive, which shattered Peru’s shield of 8 billion.

Iran has attempted two airstrikes in the past few months. It achieved considerable traction in the first one, holding regions in the Czech Republic, warring Germany for a time. Iran had moved well into Austria just before they were completely removed by Poland. The second airstrike to Venezuela, failed to land and was crushed by Sirius forces.

The Republic of Moldova proved to be a vital distraction and help for Asteria and LETO for a time. It AS’d Belgium and moved considerably into the United Kingdom, managing to close out a NE by Poland in the process. However, a combination of quick successful RWs and a defeat in a MPP battle brought an end to their voyage in the UK.

Pakistan was the latest country to attempt to move out of Asia into Europe. They were able to wipe Belgium for a day, and won a direct battles against the Brits, only to lose it all in Resistance Wars that they were unable to quell.

Aurora hasn’t used the airstrike ability, to the same extent as Asteria. However, Aurora has experienced far more success.

Ireland, in a risky maneuver, AS’d Slovenia and has managed to make its place in Central Europe. They currently hold territories in Austria.

Chile moved into Europe after an agreement with Switzerland, and have also held onto their regions, beating back Serbia and Hungarian NEs. They currently hold regions in France, Italy and have an ongoing training war with the Swiss.

Paraguay’s airstrike and move into Austria was short lived, but proved to be a valuable distraction at a time when Aurora was struggling. Ireland and Chile were enabled to establish themselves in the region.

Macedonia (FYROM) has also managed to move into Australia, with the blessing of Indonesia and Chile, although it will soon face a tough challenge from Slovenia to hold its regions there. Their last AS into Scandinavia ended in disaster and was beaten by an Asteria backed Asgard.

Sirius countries have generally been the one defending against Asterian and LETO airstrikes. However, Croatia alongside its brothers Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania still hold regions in India and the United Arab Emirates respectively.

Brazil’s attempted airstrike into Pakistan last month managed to land, but was promptly beaten back in a Resistance War led by Asterian forces.

In general, airstrikes have proved to be a successful short term ploy to divert attention of the enemy and provide excitement to the populace at home by moving into new territories. Long term though, very few countries have been able to maintain their grasp on regions successfully.
