Do We Really Need the Midi-Pyrenees?

It has been said that we need the Midi-Pyrenees, as that is our connection to Languedoc Roussillon and Fish. In addition, it has been said that France doesn't need another Grain region, so they should be willing to give up that region for no regions in exchange because we're helping them get rid of Serbia. Like, we wouldn't be attempting to wipe Serbia from the map, anyways, whether they needed our help or not.
But, is what is good for the Goose, good for the Gander?
The President of Canada, Addy Lawrence has made it clear that they are willing to do region swaps with us in exchange for resource regions that we need. That would include Fish.
But, why even bother with that, when we can just give them regions that we don't need anymore that they need, free of charge, like the French are doing. We can give Canada Alaska for Oil and Pennsylvania for Fruit. We have other regions that cover those resources. And as long as were in a gift giving mood, let us help out our bros to the south, Croatia. We can give them Arizona for the Cattle that they need. It isn't like we need another Cattle region.
So, are we willing to follow the same practice that France has allegedly agreed to do with us? Not that we would know about any dealings with the French as no mention of these dealings has ever been brought up in the French Embassy. In a browser game, where strategy has become less and less important, where it takes twelve hours minimum to win a campaign, we're still keeping things secret behind closed doors, like that is going to make a difference.
French model Aurelie Claudel doesn't want to live under eUS occupation any more than she wants to live under Serbian occupation.

Why would we rape our MPP stacks swapping with Canada when we get it with France. Why would we expose ourselves to multiple RWs at the same time?
France is letting us keep the regions, we get resources and a base to defend France from.
France is perfectly capable of declaring Serbia as a Natural Enemy. We can assist them in their battle efforts, while they can maintain their autonomy.

France can't bet Serbia alone. Letting France try is what allows both Poland and Serbia reach our shores and invade.

Being part of the elitist click, and active in the metagame, guarantees you'll have the advantage over the average two-clicker. That is how government works. They take away the fun from the average player and provide it to themselves.

What part of we'd have 2 battles with 2 NE's on them giving us more damage against them don't you understand? We'd split their damage, and have the stronger USA also have NE bonus against Serbia.
MPPs are great, but NE's allow each country to have an edge in their battle.
@Oblige: Yeah, I real all about that agreement in the French Embassy. NOT! You want to make agreements? Make them open source. Make them peer-reviewable. Don't follow the usual elitist trend and keep them secret behind close doors. Let the citizens of eFrance and the eUS, openly comment on them and suggest alternatives that both countries would benefit from.
@Vanek26: If we weren't trying to take over the world and just defending our regions and those of our allies, we wouldn't have to worry about overextending ourselves. Is Serbia a threat right now? No, they're being pushed back. Is Poland a threat? No, they're wiped. Spain? They're ineffective. We don't need to dominate the world. That makes us no different than ONE. Let's provide value for value with region swaps -- after discussing it openly.

@Lysander, Canada would co-operate and the timing is bad now because too many MPPs are in play. When US was being reclaimed, that was a good time to do half of the swap.
When the time is right, Canada will swap quite readily, the population on both sides has to be prepared to co-operate. France is a great partner to swap with, their people get it.

Lysander, no offense brother.. Oblige, Vanek and these fgts know what they are doing. Its game mechanics and other things that MOST of us don't understand. Sometime we are told to fight in Russia when we were losing an battle on homeland US. That was for a reason. They plan this stuff. The day you trust them is the day things start get clearer.
I fight where they tell me to fight because they KNOW what they are doing. Learn from them.

If the "elites" want my trust, then they damn well better tell me the logic behind their arguments. So what if I'm a newb, I don't follow somebody blindly. I have a working brain like everybody else and am willing to use it. Lysander has a point behind peer review and open source. You all are talking about the need for government transparency, but I have yet to bear witness to this mythological creature. You'll get more respect from us players through open discussion then through your creation of an unequal society. As far as strategy goes, it is ridiculous to think that this game has so many variations that secrecy accomplishes anything. When a campaign(?) starts, our opponents have the timedpan of 8-16 battles to turn things around.
Sometimes these things are kept quiet so other team don't pick up on it.
@ElmieJr: It doesn't make a difference if the other team picks up on it anymore. As it takes a minimum of 12 hours to win a campaign, I'm sure they'll have plenty of time to notice it and take action.
You are being unreasonably short-sighted here Spooner. Of couse they'll notice the battle within minutes of it opening up. That's not what is being hidden from anyone. It's the overall strategy that we don't want our enemies to get wind of. What is kept quiet by the few setting our strategy is whether or not we want the enemy to drop massive damage in a battle that is recently opened.
The best example of this was in early December. We got Poland into a battle with us, no big deal. Except for the fact that we went balls to the wall and dropped a ton of damage in the first mini, so they had to drop a ton of damage to match it. Then, a couple hours later, several of our allies started RWs simultaneously. Poland was already tied up with massive battle drains with us and were unable to keep the RWs from succeeding. If our strategy had been "open source" they would have let us take a mini or two and focused their effort on the RWs that ended up being the beginning of the end for Poland.
Strategy isn't picking your next move, it's picking your next dozen moves and always staying ahead of the enemy. If we open our books to anyone outside of a very select few who take part in determining our strategy, then we completely remove our advantage.
@Eli Crownover: You're actually attributing a lot more complexity and coordination to our opponents then they actually possess. The damage laid down is due to pure numbers of attackers, most of them being two-clickers, deciding to attack at a particular time because that is the time they chose to login. They see a close battle, so they participate to make a difference.
That ton of damage dropped during the first mini you are referring to was most likely done by a few high level players dropping a ton of energy bars or gold. That amount dumped, while acting as a damage drain, was also damage that wouldn't be applied elsewhere in the future. It is like the broken window theory of Economics. A broken window may create jobs for the glazier, but only at the expense of jobs that may have been created elsewhere -- such as when buying a suit or some type of recreational electronic device would create jobs for Tailors and Electronic Manufacturers.
They absolutely do possess it, both our allies and enemies. It's really not that complicated. We coordinated with our allies to have them start all those RWs at the same time when we were in our 3rd mini (if I'm remembering it correctly). Then I was personally in Poland and watched when they started switching around their "Campaign of the Day" between all the RWs to try to catch up from all the damage they drained against us.
The amount of damage done in the first 2 minis was helped by several heavy hitters, but it was also the fact that their Campaign of the Day was set to our state. So the heavy hitters were there, along with every citizen who was just fighting according to the CotD. All that damage they dropped in the US would have absolutely been dropped elsewhere. People drop according to orders or the CotD, and a few go for medals. Either way, using our state as a damage drain was the tactic we used, and it was absolutely a success.

Your ignorance here is astounding. Yes the RWs used the be highly coordinated, but the requirement to be one of the supporters was you can't already have a resistance hero medal. Also, of course being active on the forums and IRC gives you an advantage. It has nothing to do with the 'elitists', it means that you're putting a little effort into being informed. That's not a shocker.
No offense LS2... but you really needed to learn some more game mechanics prior to this article.
I get the "Damn elites are screwing ____!!! (insert Country/person name here)" and "They control our country, I want my share!" and whatnot... it really is a great rally that gives you instant support... but you're far off base with this rant.

Yes, we can control what the campaign of the day is set to, we can also control -- to some extent -- starting RWs where and when we need them, but we can't control WHEN the numerous two-clickers that play this game decide to fight. That is what I'm trying to point out when I say You're actually attributing a lot more complexity and coordination to our opponents then they actually possess. Until everybody can control when the two-clickers decide to engage in combat, our opponents knowing our plans ahead of time won't make that much of a difference. The benefits you'll see in increased retention, by being inclusive with Joe Player, will far outweigh any benefits you'll see by keeping them in the dark.
@Speedcat McNasty: I'm not running for anything. I think two tries at PotUS, with PtHII getting better election results than me, is quite enough. =^P I'm letting my "political and moral philosophy" flag fly. I'm doing my bit to bring ethics back to the game.
1) Eliminate the two-tier system. Eliminate any barriers to entry that prevent Joe Player from enjoying this game as much as the "elite". Being on IRC and the forum, shouldn't be a requirement to play this game and shouldn't be a requirement for Joe Player to support resistance war. if you examine the game mechanics as set by the Admin, you'll see there is no login button for the eusaforums or Rizon nick register requirement before they are able to push that "Support" button.

2) Make sure our allies our getting the best value for any agreements we participate in with them, by making them accessible to the public and therefore under public scrutiny. We talk about how we're defending France from Serbia, but we all know that we would be attempting to wipe Serbia from the map regardless of whether they controlled France's regions or not. If region swapping isn't practical, ten Gold or Currency also works. And when things die down, and we can afford to go NE with Croatia and Canada, I'll look forward to giving Croatia, Arizona and Canada, Alaska and Pennsylvania, because as has been pointed out with the French regions we possess, they already have those resources and therefore don't need those regions -- while Croatia and Canada would benefit from these regions that we could give them. Or is gifting regions only okay, when it is the eUS on the receiving end.
Honestly - you have no clue. Your complaining about people who spend gold on this game. They have that rights. Its like complaining about the kid who has more candy. LIVE WITH IT BUDDY.
@ElmieJr: Where did you get the impression that I'm complaining about people who spend Gold on this game? I ABSOLUTELY support their right to do so! They are the ones who make sure that this game stays in existence, by providing an economic incentive to the game's developers. I'm pointing out the inequities of a two-tier system -- as established by the "metagame" -- and pointing out how unrealistic "secret strategies" are in this game when you consider the lack of control we have over the two-clickers who play this game.
It's part of the game. You don't HAVE to play ya know 🙂
@ElmieJr: It isn't "part of the game". If it were, the Admins would have developed it as part of the game. It is something certain individuals decided to add to how they play the game. To say it is part of the game, is like saying one has to down a shot whenever they pass GO when playing Monopoly. It may be something they choose to do, but it is not part of the game. And as such, I am free to advocate against it and you are free not to play "ya know".
Does that mean when video chat is integrated with this game, we'll start playing "Strip eRepublik"?

Most of the time the barriers between people getting involved is understanding the game and using the IRC, any player that can do this will be accepted (and helped to understand the game) by most governments, eUS is included in this...if for some reason you don't feel like they are ePH is always open : P
