Canadian Sympathizers: Will they Drink the Kool-Aid?

Day 1,705, 15:45 Published in Canada USA by Derphoof

First off, on a slightly related note, congrats to eCanada, it's allies, and it's supporters for holding off the American invasion of Manitoba! It was a fantastic victory and it showed the power and world support of eCanada. However, we can not likely beat a superpower in a war like this. We will obviously not take all of America or anything crazy like that. Although he and others may prefer war, it would seem as though Rylde knows this. His leadership and strategy in this war has been masterful. He may want to try to invade and destroy American regions but he has shown tremendous restraint. Rylde has been able to put aside his warmongering tendencies to face facts and put diplomacy first. Hopefully talks between our governments will bring a swift end to this war. Although he may be criticized for other things, he should not be criticized for how he's handled the war thus far.

Leading up to and as the war began, it was fun to read the various rumors and guesses as to who exactly started the war and how it happened. Now, it has been interesting to read some of the eMerican articles about the new war and what some call their soon to be “North American Federation.” There are some very good, sensible articles but some simply serve to degrade Canada. If you believe these articles, Canada is “The Worst Country in North America”, they have to “save us from ourselves”, and that the North American Federation is “Righteous and Good.” If anything, the eMurikan government and its supporters seem to have trouble trying to convince parts of their society to support the invasion. Without a doubt, the victory in Manitoba can be attributed to those players from America who decided to support Canada against the invasion. If the USA is to win the war, they must attract these people back to their side.

Those who support the USA have had to resort to various tactics to sway the defective portion of their citizens. These people have tried to persuade citizens that Canada is the aggressor, Canada no longer wants the brolliance, and that the North American Federation is the destiny of eMurika. I honestly have no idea how effective it has been. However, the rhetoric of some articles I have read have just been downright demeaning. They have painted Canada as a lesser, awful country, who has been aggresive and trying to bait America into a war for weeks. I simply don’t quite buy their logic, and I’m not sure how many of their citizens do either. In other articles, anyone who supports Canada has basically been told that they should move to Canada and stay there.

I am not an expert on eMerican society but there is a split between citizens and it seems sizable enough to make a difference. If America wants to establish its North American Federation, its citizens will have to come to a consensus and rally behind its government. With the rhetoric being used, I doubt it will happen. By degrading Canada in the media, it seems unlikely they could round up the support of those who sympathize with Canada. Perhaps instead of painting Canada as a treacherous evil villain, they may want to come up with a different plan.
