An Honest View on ''Elitism''
NoTie112
I have to be honest and tell you I was pleasantly surprised by the recent (political) activity in the country. Political harmony for too long does no country good and destroy the self-refreshing purposes of a democracy (the latter which the eNetherlands are scoring bad at most of the times). I was more disappointed by the content of the recent debates and media articles, though.
What we have at hand are two main factions in the eNetherlands right now. The first one, composed by the main figures of I&W and their associates, are firmly in power and have been in power for over 5 years, be it de facto or de iure. Over the years, they have perfected their political skills and have recruited some of the most fine people on their side with valuable governing abilities. Over the years, however they have also unconsciously made sure that they're grown into the fundamentals of the eNetherlands (the same fundamentals they've helped built up over the years).
This faction is inherently connected to some of the most essential institutions in our country. They are the ones who are in control of the IRC channels and eNL forums (where most decisions are taken). They have the international contacts. They know how to run the country by experience. They know how to win elections and gain attention in the media due to their long-known name, prestige and (former dead) eCitizens in our country. Conclusively, they have a major advantage to whoever isn't part of the clique and didn't have the time or opportunity to develop the same advantages the clique has
Will you make it pass the council of elders?
Or will you be deemed politically unsatisfactory?
Selective Democracy
Is that fair? The pretension is kept up it is. And in their favour, they are very welcoming to new citizens they deem acceptable to their causes and will help them in their career as long as they stay in line. This is no democracy as it is intende
😛There shouldn't be a ruling class ''judging'' who is essentially playing puppet master and deciding who gets in or who doesn't (sometimes due to biased arguments as well). There are numerous examples of this mechanism of our corrupted system, myself being one of them.
Most of the time I have been outside of the mainstream political parties and led movements that were ''radical'' in the eyes of the mainstream establishment, mostly because they mobilized newer and lower-level citizens who haven't gotten the chance yet to participate in politics and get better by trial and error. In the vision of the establishment, why should they been given that chance while they have numerous citizens with experience already? It's a self fulfilling prophecy, essentially, because they clearly deem theirselves better able to govern the country (although they too did get better by trial and error, including loss of millions of money due to risky monetary market games, robberies and disastrous political choices).
I still remember the first time I ran as CP against Mitch Rapp from I&W I was laughed at and ridiculed, because how did I dare to challenge (and had a sense of even wanting to win) when I was a nobody and he had several CP medals?! It's all too telling. Meanwhile I did get more medals than him eventually, but it took me a lot of political games to get in favour of the establishment, including making choices I morally don't agree with.
I have no more desire to be part of that ruling class (except of maintaining the friendships I made with some people in there), as I'm essentially retired and I have nothing to lose anymore, besides seeing my party Revolution and Libertas being humiliated by the former ''friends'' of the elite. They are hypocritical to the bone, as they did work together with that party when there was a more desirable front-man (despite the party and it's visions back then were completely the same as they are now).
Don't be fooled by the establishment sketching the opposition as savages who would make this country a mess. It's just a mere strategy. Of course people who are being ridiculed and a country that gets polluted will rebel, revolt and take it to more extreme measures to get their will (if the democratic mechanisms fail). It takes Goebelesque extremes sometimes, major example being the hatred towards Van Spijck / M. de Ruyter and associates. Truth be told, they do '''guard'' our country most the times and do have the good of the country as secondary goal. But in their clinging to power they completely bypass the consequence that their current behaviour is disastrous for our country as new individuals with perhaps progressive ideas and opportunities can't thrive right now.
We will never see the errors of the establishment if there's no to challenge them honestly and our country might have been in tunnel vision for years, who knows? Perhaps the geniuses that would lead our country to glory have already been silenced and will never be able to save our country? Who knows.
Is it time for a revolution? Not yet, but I do call upon the people to use the last democratic instruments we have to challenge the rotten system of the eNetherlands. Friends of I&W & DemNL: Please take a seat in the backbench, as you (rightly) forced GPN to do so and perhaps one day you'll challenge the system again. As democracy is supposed to work.

Remember folks, I'm not worthy of even an expat status according to those in power.
I think you bring up some great points on challenging authority to keep them in check.
By the way, a next article will feature what the ''opposition'' does wrong and did wrong over the years. I'm not making these articles just for the sake of making a (biased) political point.
Great article, I completelly agree with you, but don't think all DemNL members are the same.

We have the same issue in eGermany. Here we call the establishment "Filz", which actually means felt, however in colloquial language it means sleaze.
Everyone who doesn't share their views is seen as an enemy. You're not allowed to criticize them and if you do so, they will fight you. There were a lot of smear campaigns against me, that's why I'm not into politics anymore. The "Filz" made up it's own rules, e. g. you're not allowed to invite new registred citizens into your own party. If you do so, the elite will spread lies about you and information, which actually is totally mundane, however for new people it seems like you're a public enemy.
They don't recognize that with this dictatorial behaviour they scare off new players, that's why our community is becoming smaller and smaller.
It's quite different here. I&W hardly does any smear campaign, only comments on smear articles against us. We're also the least active when it comes to inviting new players into our party. And while we're all individuals, I for one do not have any enemy, though some might perceive me as their enemy.
I am considered a filz and I got along with most if not all parties...
interested in the next article. 🙂
I have given everyone a shot at power over the years. There is no denying that. I worked with you (which I did quite enjoy) without any grudge over an earlier nearly successful impeachment you and ElGorro headed. I pushed for people like Shakerr to have cabinet positions while I could have blocked it. I actively try to give everyone a shot at power.
However, I do not give people a shot at destroying our country. I look five steps ahead and take a very careful and nuanced approach to global politics and I do not let others smash it to bits with short sighted arguments about pride and dignity that stem more from being butthurt than from insight of the game.
I've always willing to work with everyone and share whatever knowledge I believe I have, and I listen to every serious argument as to why I would be wrong to conclude things. Random media shouting and accusations are not serious arguments however.
At least, I believe it was you and ElGorro, but it might have been coolissport in a more prominent role, I'm not entirely sure anymore.
Please note that I have refrained from naming any names exactly for this reason. I do recognize that there are exceptions to any situation. I didn't attack you as an individual (because I believe you are an bright light in the system) but the system which we all (including me, including the people who oppose the current rulers decisively and so on) are to blame for.
Also, without inciting any fights, I have to say you are one of the most receptive eCitizens, but that doesn't go for many others.
Heb ik nu een déjà vu of heb ik dit 3 jaar geleden allemaal al een keer gelezen.
Tsja, democratie is meestal hetzelfde geneuzel om de zoveel tijd, hè? 😛
NoTie, you yourself are definitely also a part of the clique who knows how to win elections...
So I think your comment regarding I&W and DemNL near the end is a bit misplaced. And it definitely also applied to GPN, who under M de Ruyter were ruling the country nearly non-stop for almost a year.
Virtually all parties have one or a few people who belong to this "elite".
But you are right. It's hard for any political system not to be dominated by a few individuals. The same happens in real life politics.
I try to keep DemNL as democratic as possible, in the sense that anyone who is active deserves a high position on our congress candidates list. And I'm perfectly fine with putting myself low on our candidate list.
But even that order is sometimes a bit arbitrary... My own opinions will partly determine who gets high in the candidate list.
I'm not sure which current members of DemNL are really part of this clique. I don't think I really belong in that category. I'm more of an opposition kind of person. But I am quite active on our forum, as that is the best way to make your opinions understood (and make them count!). I can only recommend everyone to use it. It's not meant for an elite, it's meant for everyone. Non-CMs definitely should also tell us their ideas etc.
Regarding Garmr's comment: yes, we need to make sure we do not help people with bad intentions get to positions of power. But we also shouldn't be too restrictive because of this...
