[JA4PP] Action, not Reaction

Action, not Reaction

CP elections are over. Congrats to SFP’s endorsement, Gnilraps, on his last minute but successful run! It is a strange time for SFP. That’s certainly evidenced by who we endorsed this month.

SFP has become a legitimate political force, but, with great power comes great responsibility. We have a duty to the public to do what we believe is best for the public. I believe that SFP has always wanted to do what is right, but, until recently, we did not have the ability to get it done. Without T5 status, it was hard to get other parties to take us seriously. Now, we’ve got T5 status, 16 Congressional seats, a Chief of Staff, and a Secretary position. We now have the ability. It’s time to get s*** done.

For this reason, I would like to announce my candidacy for SFP Party President this month. My goals as Party President can be summed up in three words: action, not reaction.

Before we became a legitimate political force, we were reactive. We yelled and hooted and hollered up a storm any time that we were upset with how the country was being run, and this was, seemingly, a pretty good strategy. We were able to sometimes influence political change by yelling loud enough that, sometimes, those in power would at least moderate the changes. We had to yell because, in truth, we were a small minority of the population. We had to be a vocal minority to be heard.

Now, the tide is changing. We are in a position to be more than a vocal minority; we can be a working majority. Now is the...

Now, I’m not saying that it’s going to be easy. Just because we have more people now doesn’t mean that we can change things without hard work. In order to use our legitimate power, we need to do the following:

1) Continue recruitment and retention at current or greater levels.
We did a great job of this leading up to Congressionals, but we need to be recruiting all of the time. I don’t believe that this should be a one man job because it burns people out. We also need to work on retention. Jude did a great thing starting a retention department, but it has been lack-luster. We need to reinvigorate this department. Please, contact me if you are interested in working in either of these departments.

2) Keep SFP in T5 for Congressionals.
The first part of this goal is fulfilled by recruitment and retention. The second is fulfilled by organization. This will be done, one way or another, without multies. Period.

3) Reinvigorate SFP media- both official media and individually-produced media.
When I first became active, SFP media was thriving. We dominated the top 5 articles. Now, part of this was our formally reactive nature, and I do not want to go back to this. I do, however, want to see SFP members talking about what they do and they want to do in both official and non-official papers. We need to stay on everyone’s minds.

4) Get more SFPers in national positions, and not just deputies.
SFP does a LOT of behind-the-scenes work. Until this election, however, SFP held no more than one Secretary Position and no CoS, VP, or CP positions since I became active. We need to have positions that match our involvement. As PP, I would work to ensure that any SFP member who wanted a job in the national government got a job. We will work as deputies when there is nothing else available, but we will work to make sure that other positions are available. A great step was taken this month when Jude became CoS, but I want to see Jude as CP.

5) Stay true to our ideals, but be open to compromise.
There is a balance here, and we need to navigate this well. We cannot lose sight of our ideals just because we are a T5 party now, but we also can’t ignore that, sometimes, we won’t get what we want. Sometimes, we have to play politics to get in a position to create long-standing change in the law and in the community. This will be difficult, but we need to find our balance here soon.

I will work with my Revolutionary Committee to ensure that each and every one of these is done. My first four Rev Comm appointees will be the following:

Tom Cauchon – VPP – Chief of Staff, Advisor

Tom is another hard worker. He will oversee weekly reports from Party Programs, acting as a sort of Chief of Staff for me. He will also serve as an advisor. I think that he will do a great job of balancing me out because we do not always agree.

Jude Connors – SecGen – Elections Commissioner

Jude has always said that he wanted this job when he finally stepped down from the throne. He also knows the most about how our elections are run of anyone in the party, unquestionably. I have full confidence that he will run fair elections.

Illiguy – Councillor – Congressional Whip

Illiguy has done a great job so far with his whipping our Congress the past two months, and I have no reason to think that this will change. SFP consistently has the greatest proportion of its Congress actually voting.

Mama Lunete – Spokesman – SFP Media Director

I had actually decided on Mama Lunete for Media Director before he grabbed the reigns on it a couple days ago. He has a great deal of experience in national media, he is consistent, and he is a great writer. I also believe that SFP Media needs the new fresh face that he is eager to give it. If one person runs this too long, we tend to end up in a rut.

After I have appointed the first four appointees, I will recommend these four to be appointed as voting members of Rev Comm:

EddieA
EdgarFigaro
Franklin Stone
Kevin Sheridan

Of course, per our Constitution, the current head of BC, PilotPhil, as well as all currently active ex-PPs will be Advisors on the Rev Comm. I will also keep the policy that Jude has created in which anyone who wishes to volunteer for Rev Comm will be given an Advisory position! I hope that this will encourage all members of SFP to engage in the party.

Now is the time for SFP to take its place as a political force. Now is the time for action. JA4PP! Together…
