[CP] NoTie III - The Round has Started

Day 2,338, 15:44 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Het Catshuis

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

We've roughly passed 1/3 of the term and thought it'd be wise to give a short overview of what your government has been doing the last couple of days. Of course, most of it can be followed closely at our eNational forums http://enetherlands.nl or at our IRC Channels (read here a recently posted tutorial on IRC), but nevertheless I deemed a recap to be helpful.

Aurora / Foreign Affairs
For this term we've decided to established strong relations with not only the Aurora alliance and it's hierarchy itself, but specifically with it's individual members. Let's be honest here: No one realistically expected this path to be an easy and short ride, with results which could be shown within one or two terms. Polishing up our (former) international position, re(establishing) friendly ties and showing our worth, most of all building up trust, are long-term goals we're continuously working on, even if we're not guaranteed immediate results. This has been the attitude in previous government, the current government and (hopefully) for many months to come, so that we indeed one day are part of Aurora, as a large majority of our population pleases (according to a very recent referendum).

So to conclude: No, we're not part of Aurora yet, and neither can I promise it will happen during my term. Does that mean we're being fooled? No, certainly not. Building up relations, just as in real life, takes heavy investments in time and effort and that I can promise is happening and will continue to happen during my term. We've been more 'out there' in priority campaigns and battles, recently we've made a showing in the attempt to protect Belgium from a Pakistani Airstrike. We will continue to coordinate our own efforts with (pro)-Aurora efforts, as has been shown by the (excellent and updated) battle orders posted by the Defence Ministry.

The Country President and more specifically the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in close and personal touch with many friendly leaders and governments, which are just as important as actual (military) contribution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been doing an genius job at this front, shown by the interviews which the Ministry has held with several of our international allies/friends. The series are not yet finished (so stay tuned!), but currently we've had interviews with Chile, Germany and Ireland.

We've also decided to join the International Foundation of New Players. Also, we've signed a non-aggression pact with Belgium to (finally) restore our relations.

Defence / Finances
There were several loose ends in the Finance department (even an minor mistake in our laws which have been left unnoticed for years!), but these have been solved. We are once again sure of our budget, efforts on the Monetary Market are running again (netting us more money) and close administration of all financial data guaranteed again. Also: Some taxes have been revised and we have made concept contracts for handing out gold loans to our citizens to improve their (much-needed) Training Facilities. During the last discount we were once again to late with the transfer of gol😛 My term will see sums of gold transferred to applicants, to ensure we're actually prepared for the next discount (est. 2-3 months).

Closely aligned with the Defence department, we've also started what has been in talks for months, perhaps years: investing in our state communes (where citizens can work and receive weapons instead of a low salary). We've been sending funds to two honourable members of our society who will prepare the improve commune system. As there is a limit on transferring funds per day it will take a long time, but at least we've finally started with the efforts.

With the improvement of our communes, much-needed reforms in the Defence hierarchy will be introduced. The Ministry of Defence has for example been working on creating an easy and manageable structure to overview the (future and current) communes, with possibilities for easy and transparent applications. Most importantly, we've merged our two (state) Military Units into one. Currently it's still known as the old 'eNL Navy' but in the next days you can expect an exciting new and attractive Military Unit for all to join!

Minor Updates
- The embassies (check them at our forums) have been cleaned, made simpler and more manageable.
- The list of foreigners with special status within our community have been revised and adjusted.
- Upcoming: The rewrite of our laws (in cooperation with Viglius) & establishment of National Library.

Kind regards,

NoTie112,
Country President of the eNetherlands
