State Of The Nation [02]

Day 2,583, 05:50 Published in Ireland South Korea by An Sluagh

Citizens of the Republic,

In our current situation, we need to assess and analyse our nation, we need to review our strategies and goals whilst being realistic and accepting that perfection is something hard to come by. It's not achieved in a day or by a few people but instead by a community and hours of work which will should pay off. In this article I hope to look into different issues faced by Ireland and give my opinion on the best way forward and how we can deal with such matters.

[War With China]

After what was expected to be a long occupation Ireland has emerged victorious and sent China back to the Far East. Initial resistance wars were unsuccessful and the Chinese maintained their notoriously high CO's making Irish liberation seem highly unlikely. However we did not bury our heads in the sand, we continued to plan and make arrangements to see the removal of our unwelcome guests. Our new ally, the United Kingdom, was occupied in their own war against both Brazil and Canada and were therefore unable to provide immediate aid as they had done when we were under occupation by Moldova. However, our allies of Croatia and Macedonia proposed airstrikes on both Brazil and Canada respectively. As soon as they had freed our neighbour, the United Kingdom from their invaders, all three alleis shifted their focus to China.

Croatia: China has been proposed as Natural Enemy.
United Kingdom: China has been proposed as Natural Enemy.
Macedonia: China has been proposed as Natural Enemy.
Irelan😛 China has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

Through both resistance wars and direct attacks, China was removed from the island of Ireland with minimal resistance. Just like our liberation from Moldova, we were heavily reliant on our allies. To them I am grateful.

[Treaty of Mayo]

On Day 2579, the Treaty of Mayo was signed by Irish President REBELLION 2014 FRITZHILL and Macedonian President Volk 1975. As the author of the Treaty and as the individual who oversaw the negotiations and signing of the Treaty I am delighted to see such benefits come to both Ireland and Macedonia. Macedonia have been without congress since August 2014, they are under constant occupation by Greece who will do everything within their power to keep Macedonia off the map. I have lived through Ireland being wiped and being without congress for several months on end and I can relate to the struggle endured by our Macedonian counterparts.

None of our allies should go without congress - none.

It is for this reason I felt this Treaty was needed. Macedonia have always given Ireland an effort of 100% and we have always given them 100%. However Aurora is not a damagehood, we are part of a Brotherhood. We should do more than fight for our allies, we should do everything within our ability to assist them. We are giving them a region, free of charge so that they can have congress and that they can have a fully functioning country. I support this deal entirely and I will defend it til the end.

The presence of Macedonia also offers Ireland that extra bit of security. In the past three months we have been airstriked by Moldova and China. We have become a landing strip for Asteria and LETO, we need to upgrade our defences. Macedonia provide us that extra layer of security. Should any nation attack Ireland, Macedonia will attack them. Again this is Brotherhood.

[Democracy Within Ireland]

There have been articles claiming that Ireland is now undemocratic and a fascist state.

These claims are pure lies and are nothing more than mere attempts to destabilize the current Executive. Ireland is democratic by game mechanics. Any citizen can run for congress, any citizen can run for the office of President. These options are there for everyone. It is entirely within the Dáil's ability to remove a President from office. I see nothing but democracy. The President was voted in as the most popular leader and has been given the discretion within game mechanics to run and administrate the country. Congress are voted in to safeguard the people and prevent a President from ruling with absolute corrupt power and are there to protect the people's interest. We have elected both and the people have chosen their Executive, they have chosen their Dáil. That is democracy.

No referendum was held over the Treaty of Mayo as there is no rules within the State saying that the Government must hold a referendum. The Executive needed to act with haste and make an agreement as Macedonia have no time to waste. If we were to hold a referendum, would we need 24 hours of discussion beforehand followed by 24 hours voting or 48 hours to allow a larger amount of the population a vote. Who would count the votes? How are we to gather everyone's vote. Are cast votes held confidential or are they released to the general public. We have no referendum system in place. More time would be wasted trying to organise this system and what if people are not happy with the system we implement and refuse to go by it. The Immigration Policy was democratically voted in. Yet the party accusing this Executive of not being democratic ignore the democratically voted in Immigration Policy. Do they only want democracy on their own terms?

Which is worse? A democratically elected Government making a popular decision without a referendum or a party ignoring a democratically voted in policy by a democratically elected Dáil?
