Myrmid0nas: Greece - Romania relations.

Day 2,929, 10:21 Published in Romania Romania by Raul Doru

Hello again dear readers! Today I have a surprise that I hope you'll enjoy.
An interview with the Country President of eGreece, myrmid0nas.

Note that I won't change any words from myrmid0nas answers and I won't translate the article in Romania, just not to alter his ideas or to became somehow subjective about some things. Thank you for your understanding!

1. Hello myrmid0nas and thank you for talking with eRomanian community and not only! You are the current CP of Greece, but also an "old dinosaur" in eRepublik (😁. Recently, different people accused Romania of signing an MPP with an "enemy" of Asteria. Please tell us, in few words, some things about you as a player and a short history of the relations between Greece and Romania.

First of all hello to you and all your readers.
My name is Andreas and my fellow countrymen have being honoring me with their vote for CP for the past 3 months in eGreece.
I have been playing this game for over 6 years now and yes I have been fortunate enough (or unfortunate, depends on how you see it 😛) to have witnessed most of the significant events in this game and have a dissent knowledge of the game’s history.
When I entered the game eGreece had nearly 200 active players and had just earned its freedom from a long occupation period. We were trying to establish our freedom as a country and from back then I remember that one of the first countries that came to our aid and helped us in this cause was Romania. Pretty much from then a bond was created between Romania and Greece that held through time and created a relation that few countries share in this game.
So if anyone accused either eGreece or eRomania for “treason” because they had an mpp regardless the alliance they may be just proves that this person has no knowledge of the history of our countries or just has his own agenda.

2. In recent times, we've all witnessed a campaign (Greece/Croatia on one side and Hungary/Poland on the other) to disband Asteria. What's the truth in that, from your/Greece point of view?

It has been no secret that the MU I belong to (Myrmidons) and the political party that I am a proud member of (Hellenes Terroristas) had never supported the alliance of eGreece and eSerbia for many reasons.
Before the first CP elections, back in September, that I decided to run for presidency in eGreece I stated clearly that I do not support the reentrance of our country into Asteria but I respect the fact that close and historical allies of our country belong there and this fact would not affect our relations in anyway.
So from the first day of my election I established communications with all the allied countries that where members of Asteria like Romania, Argentina and Brazil to let them know that we want to keep our relations and at the same time we started trying to clear our mpp list from “satellite” countries of eSerbia that the only reason for their existence was to keep our country depended from the Serbian sphere of influence in a way.
It is a fact that in recent days in the game there has been a lot of controversy about the famous campaign of eGreece and eCroatia to dissolve Asteria but in all of these talks people tend to forget to take things from the start in order to get the correct facts.
For example most of the articles I have read that start their analysis of the recent wars from our AS to Germany and try to portray eGreece as the evil mastermind that organized all these wars from behind the scenes conveniently forgetting to mention that all of this mess actually started from the unprovoked attack of “innocent” eSerbia to eCyprus in the regions that they held in Saudi Arabia.
For those of your readers that don’t have a knowledge of this incident they can read the following article from our MoFA : http://goo.gl/gFnrUC.
For those that are too bored to do that I can summarize that situation in a few lines.
As soon as eSerbia realized that eGreece is starting to leave their sphere of influence and that we have started to create a foreign policy of our own they tried to create problems for us. The peak of that effort was the attack to eCyprus in the eSaudi regions as soon as we mpp eItaly for no other obvious reason.
From that point on it was clear for us that if we really wanted to break loose from eSerbia we would have to literally fight for our freedom. We started to create a plan along with the countries that we consider allies to show eSerbia and their “minions” that such behaviour will not be tolerated by us!
The biggest difficulty that we encountered in the forming of this plan was that most of the allies of eSerbia at the moment where also allies of us that we couldn't in any way go to war with and thus the targeting of Hungary was pretty much a one way road for us. Huns are a long and loyal ally of eSerbia and also they have fought against us on the side of Skopjia and Bulgaria for a long time making them a perfect target for us to set an example and send an appropriate message.

3. If and how much you can tell about the reasons behind Greece's actions lately: your presence in Germany, the non-direct involvement in Croatia's wars (against Serbia and then Hungary) even if you've had a common border with Hungary.

As I stated above after we targeted Hungary as a target we started a plan where we and eThailand landed on their borders and “captured” regions that they held for bonuses and eCroatia and eUkraine started a direct war with them. Unfortunately at that point where eSerbia NEed eCroatia to help the Huns our many common MPPs with them (Romanian being one of them) didn't allow us to directly NE Hungary to aid our Croatian brothers even when they were under multiple attack because we didn’t want in any way to affect our relations with eRomania.
The result was that eSerbia, the leader of the sole and biggest alliance in the game was wiped for the second time in the history of the game by a team of countries that simply where fighting for what they believed side by side.

4. What are the reasons behind the current conflict with Hungary? It's clear that the war is not for bonuses or glory, so what's to gain or to loose?

The current direct war with eHungary was initiated by the Huns when they proposed the NE law first. As I stated above we would have never initiated a direct war with them and brake mpps such as the Brazilian and the Romanian, especially after the wars that took place last month. We simply defended the first attack and pretty much marched on from there.

5. And the most important thing: what do you think about Romania's (and Serbia) NE on Croatia? You've had some talks with Romania's dictator before signing, few days ago, a new MPP? Because following that NE law against Croatia, Romania lost that MPP with Greece. Do you believe that it will be possible, in the future, to return to the good relations we've had before and even maybe to sign another MPP (taking into consideration that Romania will remain an Asteria member)?

I have to say that from the beginning of the month I personally had a very good communication with Cornelb who is a player that I greatly respect. The first braking of our mpp that was caused by the attack of eRomania to eCroatia when eSerbia was wiped by our allies was respected by us simply because of the fact the eRomania was obligated to help eSerbia in this difficult situation as long as you were a member of the same alliance.
The fact that puzzled me personally and also disappointed me was that when after 1-2 weeks of talks and after we agreed to reestablish our mpp eRomania decided to attack eCroatia overnight for a second time to “save” Asteria, as I heard CornelB say in the interview he gave to Clopoyaur, the same time that eGreece was under attack from eHungary…
I’m still trying to figure out the logic behind this decision…
I believe that sooner or later eRomania will have to make a decision and choose between us and eSerbia, plain and simple. In my opinion this will not come from any actions that we will initiate as a country but from the fact the eSerbia will keep forcing eRomania to act according to their plans and political agenda. As long as eSerbia gets its way (see eHungarian and ePolish MPP) and eRomania keeps not reacting they will keep pushing until one day a scenario will be created where eRomania will have to choose between us and eSerbia.

6. And finally, let's talk a bit about the worst scenario for Asteria. I don't believe that the alliance will fall apart (at least not in the near future), but if it will happen, Greece will honestly be open for an agreement with Romania (and, of course, Argentina)? Do you believe that it will be possible to see some alliances more or less similar to EDEN/ONE (taking into account also the not so good relations between Argentina and Croatia, knowing that Romania and Argentina will be, no matter what, on the same side)?

In my opinion Asteria is counting backwards as we speak simply because it is based around the interests of 1-2 countries forcing all other members to play the part of “minions”.
What are the great wars that Asteria has fought?
Where are the great countries empires that Asteria has builded?
Who is the great enemy that is keeping Asteria of all the above?

The answer to all of the above questions is simple, none!
Asteria was founded from the start on an unstable foundation (eGreece’s CP made a ticket and created this alliance creating a huge battle in our community) and with a single purpose, to protect the bonuses of 1-2 countries…
EDENs greatest success was that for a long period of time the countries that where members planned and acted as a single unified team with common enemies and common friends.
I hope that sooner or later we will see a similar situation in the game again and hopefully eGreece and eRomania will both be part of it.

Thank you, myrmid0nas, for your answers! It was a real pleasure having you as guest in my newspaper!
