IRC Rules

The following rules have been agreed upon by a committee of people including the following:

* The current President of eSouth Africa (and owner of the irc channel #eSouth_Africa),
* the Vice president,
* the Minister of Internal Affairs,
* regular citizens.

The committee has hammered out the following rules that will govern the #eSouth_Africa IRC channel, and other associated official government channels. Included are penalties for breaking the rules in the form of a point system similar to eRepublik itself.

There is also a new form for applying to get ops, and a complaint system to appeal penalties given.

RULES
1. No trolling (purposely aggravating other chatters)
2. Religious or political discussions will be allowed within limits. If more than 3 people complain, then the discussion must be taken elsewhere.
3. No racial slurs whatsoever.
4. No bot abuse (meaning you can not continually trigger the bot)
5. Certain offensive words will get you kicked by the bot. Too bad.
6. No spamming articles. Once is sufficient.

PENALTIES
1st offense - a warning + 0 point
2nd offense - 24 hour ban + 1 point
3rd offense - 3 day ban + 1 point
4th offense - 1 week ban + 1 point
5th Offense (or 4 points) = permanent ban
These offenses will reset to zero 60 days after the last offense.
Ban evading will result in double the original offense time.

If you have a complaint to make, please notify an Op for the channel. In many clients, they can be identified by the odd character next to their name, including (e.g. ~, &, @, or 😵

If you feel you have been banned unjustly or without reason, you may request a review hearing by notifying one of the following council members.

OP ABUSE RULES rules
1. Banning someone unfairly
2. Giving someone OPS, without it going through the committee
3. Purposely aggravating a chatter to incite them to break the rules.


PUNISHMENT
1st offense - warning - 0 points
2nd offense - removal of OPS for 24 hours + 1 point
3rd offense - removal of OPS for 3 days + 1 point
4th offense - removal of OPS for 1 week. + 1 point
5th offense - permanent removal of OPS
As with the chatters rules, these points will reset to zero after 60 days of the last offense.
