Gov. Program: Arm America
Joey3790, Deputy Secretary of Media

War is once again upon us. First off, I want to thank everyone who helped fight back the invaders and helped us reclaim our core regions. (Welcome home Hawaii and California!) While we celebrate our victory, we notice one other thing. This war took a large chunk out of our weapons inventory. If only there was a way to gain those weapons back. Well guess what, there is! The Department of Defense, or DoD, offers Arm America to help you recover from those damages.

Arm America is a government program funded by the Department of Defense that reimburses players for the weapons they use in DoD priority battles. This program aims to compensate each soldier the same amount of weapons that they used in a battle up to a limit of 100 Q7 weapons per day. In reality, it’s a win-win situation as the eUS receives more damage to assist in battles between themselves or allies, and each player receives his/her supplies back. The only requirements are that you be an eUS citizen, or belong to an American Military Unit that follows DoD orders, and fight in a DoD priority battle. If you fit these requirements, then all you have to do is fill out a simple form with your name, eRepublik profile link, and a screenshot of your damage and kills made in the battle you fought in. The link to the form is below.

Who knows, this war may have been short-lived or maybe Round 2 is just over the horizon. Either way, with Arm America you can recover your losses, and prepare for the future. Why not take advantage of this program today? Trust me, you won’t regret it!

To receive weapons, please fill out the order form by clicking here: Load ‘em up!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Arm America, please contact: Hale Kane or Dinnyin

Cabinet Expose: The Role of the Vice President
Derphoof, Vice President

Everyone always picks a Vice President.

They’re always the headliner of cabinet articles on the campaign trail. The VP choice is always seen in the comments, supporting their candidate.

Yet, once elected…. What does the VP actually do?

Well, this varies from administration to administration, as the VP doesn’t exactly have a set role in the government. The only obligation they have is to serve as the CP, when the CP is out for a time, and no impeachment occurs. However, much like Joe Biden, you don’t really have any official duties. Instead, the main role you fill is that of chief advisor.

The President has a large apparatus of secretaries, former presidents, and others at his or her disposal. Yet, the VP is the person that the President usually trusts the most to give solid and trustworthy advice on any topic. This is why the VP is usually a very experienced person in the government. For instance, I myself have served in the State, Media, Defense, NSC, and Congress. I have general knowledge of how most everything works. Many times, the president will also choose to grab a sitting cabinet member, opening the door for new blood to get some experience as a cabinet member or assistant.

On occasion, however, the VP may have more obligations. They may be given a specific task for the month, like improving relations with specific countries, or getting to better know foreign leaders. They may be tasked to assist with some reforms, or even the media department. Some VP’s may even opt to create their own project for the month, with the approval of the CP.

The VP can be a valuable counsel and assistant over the course of the month, providing help and advice whenever the CP needs it. The VP position shouldn’t be treated as a mere position to hand out in an effort to pander for votes. It should be a trusted friend or peer, who you believe will be a sound advisor for the month ahead.

War Report
Alexander Auctoritas, Foreign Consultant

Let's take a look at the eWorld on today's edition of:

As Erepublik Turns

We see the Indonesian War of Attrition is well underway.

Chile, Bulgaria, and Indonesia all NE'd the USA. But before that our friends FYRoM were kicked out of CANADA. We have managed to close the wars with Chile and Bulgaria, rather quickly I might add. Both only went two battles, CHILE and Bulgaria. Meanwhile the war with Indonesia saw two wins by the enemy, in the core regions Hawaii and California. But wait, the US has stood them up on Oregon. We will now see the US march on Indonesia at will.

In a wonderful show of teamwork, solidarity, and friendship; our friends Greece and Latvia NE'd Bulgaria on the backside. Latvia's Airstrike was unsuccessful, but provided a little bit of a drain on Bulgaria's influence. FYRoM attempted to jump on the band-wagon in Greece and promptly are getting their butts kicked. So, while the US handled the situation on her end well, Greece has now won three battles against FYRoM and Bulgaria at the same time. This beautiful display of coordination will surely prove that any further attempts to gang-bang the US are surely doomed to failure.

To quote Chamberlain "I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep." A hearty thank you to our allies and enjoy the taste of victory.

Keep it classy, and keep shakin that ASS, eMurica!

Interview with Presidential Candidates
Jaden A., Secretary of Media

Although elections are still 5 days away, Presidential Election season is in full swing. Announcements are out, and primaries have started! I sat down with the frontrunner candidates and interviewed them. Unfortunately, Custer announced too late for me to interview him, just before this article needed to be written.

First, I sat down with The Dark Knight.

Jaden:
Thanks for sitting down with me tonight, TDK.

[22:01] THIS ONE GOES OUT TO MY FAMILY
AND KIDS
AND THE HOOD
YO YO MC TDK IN THA HOUSE
Sup bby

History

Jaden:
Can you tell me a little bit about your history in eRepublik?

TDK:
I'd like to point out I hate speaking about myself, so it will be difficult for me to sell myself effectively. However, since you have asked about it, I will begin. Most of my eHistory is a blur to me, I remember starting in ePakistan, but I don't recall how long I stayed there. I've been to many countries and have held a number of official positions, including CP in ePakistan, Congress in Serbia(Yup, it's true), Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, been to Croatia, Argentina and probably numerous other countries where I've been MoD or part of MoD teams. I've led invasions and military excursions. Created and commanded, from scratch, what was at the time the strongest military unit in eHistory, Eurasia. Was the owner of the account with the most media mogul medals in the history of eRepublik. Facilitated the rebellion in 2011 against the admins, and a lot more(much of which is probably as much, if not more, significant to what I mentioned already) which has probably been forgotten to history. But if I go back and read my articles on old accounts, I could find something out. I still tank sometimes, and set CO's when needed. My history in the eUS constitutes a number of terms as NSC Chair/co-chair, where we fought off Chile last month, defeated FYROM and Co. 3 months ago, and of course, the current war. Right now I am the proud commander of the Ubermensch and NSC director. But in summary, I've always been a soldier. And will always be one.

Cabinet

Jaden:
Thank you. I want to talk a little bit about your Cabinet. Typically, of the two positions, VP and CoS, VP is viewed as the less necessary to a functioning Cabinet, but you said in your article that you will have a VP, but you will not have a CoS. Why?

TDK:
Most of what I've seen a CoS do is every once in a while ask questions in the PDB, which usually get ignored. I wanted a right-hand (wo)man to help me with all aspects of gameplay and be included in all conversations, which the CoS does not in a larger cabinet. I will be serving as the MoFA myself, and the VP will help me deal with all situations that arise internationally and nationally. Tbh, the two positions can be considered interchangeable by some, but if the trend is already set that the VP is a more closer, personal relationship, I don't see need for a CoS. VP is Alfred Pennyworth, while CoS is Lucius Fox. Without Alfred, there is no Batman.

Jaden:
That leads me to my next question. You said that a separate SoS is not necessary, that you can handle being CP and SoS at once. Why do you believe that you can perform both jobs at once?

TDK:
Communication with allies is already thin, not just in eUSA but in some places in the eWorld too. Pacifica is a bit dull. I know that as a CP I will be active, and having active communication with allies and friends is a top priority. I don't want to lay this responsibility on another person when direct, round the clock communication with me will be available. I don't expect this to be a trend and catch on in future elections, I'm only doing this because I prefer a more hands-on approach to leadership.
However I should mention here that I do have a team of FA advisers, who will help provide me with a different perspective on things when needed.

Jaden:
Who will be on your team of FA advisors?

TDK:
I'm planning to disclose that in a later article

Jaden:
Understood. Do you still needing deputies in any departments?

TDK:
Well I'm planning to open the ambassador program, deputies are always needed in the DoD, DoCA and DoM, soon enough we'll finalize details on how many we need with exact job descriptions, and then we'll advertise and accept recruits who we deem fit for those jobs.

Jaden:
Should interested applicants contact you or should they hold off for now?

TDK:
Hold off for now.

Foreign Policy

Jaden:
Alright, good to know. Let’s move into foreign policy. Obviously, the elephant in the room is the newly ended war. How would you have handled the threat to our borders were you the President at the time?

TDK:
Well me and NAz looked eye to eye on much of war planning
so it would've been similar

Jaden:
Would you have done anything differently?

TDK:
One important thing would be, I wouldn't let Chile linger in Indonesia

Jaden:
How would you have prevented that?

TDK:
I'd RW them back to Chile, like me and Gnilraps did last month. Bulgaria and FYROM have already left, I doubt Chile has a reason to stay anymore

Jaden:
You have dedicated a lot of time to foreign policy decisions and organizing. How do you plan to take advantage of the experience and relationships that you have built doing this for the better of the eUS?

TDK:
Well considering I have personal relationships and friendships with a lot, if not all, of the leaders of our allied and enemy countries, I'd hope to leverage those friendships and bring our countries together instead of just a few people at the top. You know what I envy about FYROM and Bulgaria? Those countries are so interconnected that sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between them. I want such an ally for us, I want to have such friends. Right now if you ask a US player to name 5 players from any single Pacifica country they won't be able to do it. You ask a FYROMian to name as many Bulgarians as they can, and I can guarantee they will name every single active one. This is what I want for the USA. Not friendships on paper, not 'friendships' made by our politicians which have no effect on our players, because I know our players don't feel or care much about our allies, but instead I want friendships rooted deep within the population. I want real brotherhoods forged in steel, forged in battle and war. Hardships are what bring countries together, I want to help friends in need, like they helped us. I want to forge them raw and naturally and recreate the meaning of 'allies' for the American people.

Jaden:
Some say that your success in foreign policy is less due to skill and relationships than some of your supporters claim, but more due to your deep pockets. What say you?

TDK:
In order to help friends, you help them in their times of need. You set CO's for them, you tank for them to actually help them. Sure, shouting helps, writing an article helps, but real substantial help comes when you spend $. I have many friends who have been with me before I spent a dime on this game. I led Eurasia(The MU that I mentioned earlier, which also ended up becoming the official MU of ONE. 😛) without spending any RL money. The MU made me friends which I still have today. It is true, you need to spend in this game to do anything that actually matters if you're doing it as an individual. I consider my spending as a proof of commitment to my friends, not a way to buy friends. I have good friends, for whom I am ready to spend RL money. The current war on the US cost me a 4 digit number. If there is an issue I care about, a country I care about gets attacked, or my friends are in trouble, I will begin swiping. That is my allegiance to them.

Jaden:
Your foreign policy experience is undeniable, but some worry that you’ve made too many international enemies through that experience. Do you think that this will be in any way an obstacle to US relations if you are elected?

TDK:
In a way yes, and in a way no. The people who dislike me usually come from countries that are not exactly pro-USA. For example, if you'd read any of my shouts in the last week, there was not a single one where I did not receive a hate comment from either a FYROMian or Bulgarian. Every 5 minutes I would see at least 1 shout with an insult hurled to my name. After we lost a battle, these would increase to 5 shouts a minute. After we won a battle, the shout feed would go silent. My coup against Croatia surely made them have some negative feelings towards me, but at this point in time they have been putting massive CO's against USA for months. It has made my position stronger with people on our side of the alliances spectrum. It's not like everyone on the other side hates me, though. I still have FYROMian and Bulgarian friends, we respect each other even though we are enemies, and will continue to do so.

Domestics

Jaden:
Okay, let's move on to domestics. Do you plan to continue the current revamp to the DoCA set forth by Naz and Hale26 in the current term?

TDK:
As Hale26 is my current SoCA, yes. His revamping is the sole reason why I've kept him on, as removing him from his current flow would be unhelpful. Adding to that, I have a few plans for DoCA this month, which include purchasing Infantry Kits, Power Packs and Blitzkrieg Packs for our players in lower divisions, increase the funding for training ground programs as much as I can personally, and a lot more.

Jaden:
What will you expect from your Media department if elected?

TDK:
A WHPR every so often. I intend to have guest writers every so often as well. I was also thinking of a radio show with many of the players from eUSA and eRepublik in general, either on Twitch or anything similar, if I can find a reasonable host. I would hold a video production contest, propaganda article contest, fictionalized/romanticized war story contest, and much more. And all of these would come with some mouth-watering rewards. Keeping the media active is key to keeping the nation alive and kicking. And I will do everything to achieve that. The media dept. will be one of the major avenues of communication between the people and the government.

Jaden:
Your expertise lies almost entirely in foreign policy. Why should voters choose you as the executive of their domestics, as well, rather than just as a foreign policy leader, such as NSC, SoD, or SoS?

TDK:
Because these things should be inter-related. Our WHPR's should talk about foreign events, not the half-incorrect war reports that are usually published(No hard feelings A^2). Our international friends should take part in our domestic events and get to know our people. We should have events that include people from home and abroad. My 'expertise'(oh you flatter me) in the military module does not mean I am going to be the most terrible domestic policy head in the history of the universe. If you had followed my presidency in ePakistan, you would know we had many programs to benefit our citizens domestically, some of which were actually very original. People actually gained an interest and the country felt alive. Currently, many of our programs are underfunded. I hope to revamp them and increase their rewards, make them more interesting. Not the 10 Q5 food per winner rewards, something that makes people want to take part, free t-shirts, thousands of currency, gold packs, etc. I hope to involve my friends from outside the border, and have them and our citizens play side by side. And that is what I hope to bring to the table.

General Leadership

Jaden:
Now more generally speaking, are there any major events or other changes from the last administration that we should expect from yours?

TDK:
Well you might have read it in my article, but I plan to have better communication between our citizens in general, and top fighters. I plan to have real time communication, so usage of Slack, Skype or Whatsapp.

Jaden:
What, in your opinion, is the most important trait for a CP to have?

TDK:
Objectivity, justice, and lack of pride & prejudice.

Jaden:
How have you demonstrated to the eUS that you have those traits?

TDK:
1- I am not a member in any political party. This doesn't mean I hate every single party or consider them beneath me. This is so that my opinions do not get blemished or swayed to move towards party lines, and I hope people can see that.
Which is why in political issues, I may seem to some to side with a certain party on one issue, and their opponents on the other. However, I am not siding with any party. I am siding with what I feel is the correct answer to the issue.
I also believe I don't have much of an ego problem. I have done things that on a personal level that might hurt the ego of some people, but I have done them without much regard. This is another thing that I consider a strength which ties into your question. I objectively try to analyze situations with a view where my ego, and my personal considerations do not come into play.

Jaden:
If you had to summarize your goals for the term in 3 sentences, what would you say?

TDK:
The night is darkest just before the dawn, and I promise you, the dawn is coming.

Jaden:
Finally, what makes you the superior candidate in this election?

TDK:
I will try to not sound too emotional here. But during the war with FYROM, Bulgaria etc., I learned a lot of things, but most importantly I learned something about myself. This was something I had always hoped I would find in myself, and I think I just might have. In the face of ever worsening odds, when we were losing to Bulgaria, FYROM and Chile, and were proposed as enemy by more. When people were almost certain a wipe was coming, and the enemy had already started celebrating their victory. When hope was lost; I realized that during all this there was one constant. Every few minutes I was shouting 'Fight for the USA'. Even after we lost a round, a battle, millions of currency. The one thing that didn't change were these shouts 'Fight for USA'. I never gave up. In the past, this was something I had hoped I would see in myself, and it is what I saw. This is what my name stands for. Batman is the symbol of determination and something I had aspired to me. And in the last 4 days, I found it within me. Never giving way. Never giving up. This is what I consider one my biggest strengths. If you let me lead you, I will never give up on you.

Next, I sat down with Orikfricai.

History

Jaden:
Thanks for sitting down with me today, Orik
Alright, let's start out with an easy one. I want a little bit of background on you. Can you tell me a little bit about your history in eRepublik?

Orik:
I originally created an account back in April of 2009 and promptly quit the game. I don't remember why. What I do know is that I showed back up around July of 2014.
When I rejoined, I joined the Federalist Party and it's MU, SHIELD.
I instantly became involved in MU work doing QM, Recruiting, and running a few of it's programs. I was also in the "train-for-gold" program HAMMER.
After doing this for a while, I moved up with the MU and started taking a larger role in the Party. I quickly got involved and rose through the ranks doing a little bit of everything and anything.
Eventually, I was tasked with leading SHIELD and then rose to the rank of Party President for two terms.
All the while, I started out small on the National level, again, doing anything and everything, working my way up through Secretary of Citizen Affairs, Secretary of State, Secretary of Media, and now Chief of Staff and Presidential Candidate.

Cabinet

Jaden:
I want to talk a little bit about your Cabinet. What roles do you expect your VP (Tom Cauchon) and your CoS (MrCarey) to play in your administration if elected, as those roles vary in responsibilities?

Orik:
My Chief of Staff, MrCarey, will act as my voice and guiding hand. While I will always be active; as players, we all have different schedules and nobody is available 24/7.
For most of my term, my VP will still be in a "Blacklisted" state, which means no SCI/Private Congress access. Therefore, I will be working with Tom to have him spearhead an issue that he wants to tackle, whatever it may be. Either one of his own, or by working with the rest of my cabinet to create value in their missions.

Jaden:
TDK has claimed a more apolitical campaign due to his lack of a party. How was your Cabinet affected by your party membership?

Orik:
Honestly, it was not my intention to choose a Fed/SFP based cabinet. My original cabinet had a more diverse group of individuals but a few people had to back out for various reasons. As those situations happened, people reached out to me eager to fill those voids. As it were, they happened to be more Feds and SFP members.
Also, until recently, Aramec as in AMP, Jaden was in SFP, Hale Kane and Dinnyin were in USWP.

Jaden:
Do you still needing deputies?

Orik:
My cabinet and I will accept any help that is offered. Nobody's too proud to turn away those that wish to improve our Nation.

Jaden:
What departments need deputies?

Orik:
Need? I believe CA will be in need of a few souls to run a program or two. I'm sure Jaden would love to have ambassadors in the State Department. The NSC Co-Chairs Naz and Dinnyin would welcome tactical minds.
Media always needs bodies to write articles.

Jaden:
Should interested applicants message you?

Orik:
Either myself or those Cabinet members directly.

Foreign Policy

Jaden:
Let’s move into foreign policy. Obviously, the elephant in the room is the newly ended war. How would you have handled the threat to our borders were you the President at the time?

Orik:
I won't second guess my current Commander-in-Chief. His decisions were based on the recommendations of many people. I think we did the best with the information we had. Certainly CO's can always been tighter. All in all, we did what we had to do, and we won.
I don't know how I would've handled the threat. I was not in that situation. Nobody knows what they'll do in a fight or flight moment.

Jaden:
Supporters of your opponent tout his foreign policy experience, especially in the recent war. While you have some experience in foreign policy, TDK undeniably has had more. Why should voters choose you over TDK to be Commander-in-Chief given this?

Orik:
I know TDK certainly has more foreign contacts. Good and bad. Does he have more experience in actual Foreign "Policy"? I don't know his background. I do know that I have worked with Wild Owl, New Azazel, and Aramec the past few months or more learning everything I could about where the US stands in it's own pond as well as in the larger ocean of nations.
I've managed to expand my own range of personal friends and contacts abroad.

Domestics

Jaden:
Let's move into Domestics. Do you plan to continue the current revamp to the DoCA set forth by Naz and Hale26 in the current term?

Orik:
That is the plan. Hale has done amazing work this term in moving the Citizen Affairs department forward with it's existing programs as well as making plans for reviving dead ones. It is my hope that his work continues under my dynamic duo of Secretaries Illiguy and EddiaA.

Jaden:
Do you plan to do anything other than what is already planned by Naz and Hale in DoCA?

Orik:
Not that I'm currently aware.

Jaden:
What will you expect from your Media department if elected?

Orik:
I would hope that James continues the amazing work from this term by Secretary Jaden A.: Regular WHPR's, election coverage, and maybe some in-depth, hard-hitting pieces.

Jaden:
You have had a lot of experience in organizing Domestics. How do you think that that experience will aid you as Executive of Domestics, or whatever you would call the other side of Commander-in-Chief, if elected?

Orik:
I do. I've ran the very programs that I am now asking my Cabinet to. I understand their functions and the positive experience they create for our citizens.
Like you said, I've been running domestic programs since my time in SHIELD all the way through now.

General Leadership

Jaden:
Now more generally speaking, are there any major events or other changes from the last administration that we should expect from yours?

Orik:
Nothing major. A few tweaks here and there from me. However, we cannot predict any major events as they might happen. I will take under advisement and consideration the advice of those more experienced if something were to arise.

Jaden:
What, in your opinion, is the most important trait for a CP to have?

Orik:
Respect. Respect plays an important role in military and politics as it is. More especially so in a hyper realized political/military sim game such as eRepublik where you interact with such a small group of people. You must respect other nationalities, ways of thinking, and people from all walks of life (8 to 80 year olds sometimes). Else you risk being ostracized from the game and cast out.

Jaden:
How have you demonstrated to the eUS that you have this?

Orik:
I would hope that through my actions and (mostly) level-headedness, I have demonstrated an abundance of respect to those who deserve it. As i said previously, I have worked with many people on my way to the top and had to deal with clashing personalities and personal politics. I haven't kept my cool every time, but after some time, I've always sincerely apologized to someone if I did them wrong and promised to continue to work to better myself.

Jaden:
You’re the relative newcomer to the government scene. How do you think that that will affect your Presidency if elected?

Orik:
I don't think it will affect my Presidency in the least. I want to bring a fresh perspective to things from the top and I think being relatively new will allow me that. Also, the President is always surrounded by the advice and experience of those who've come before him should the need arise.

Jaden:
If you had to summarize your goals for the term in 3 sentences, what would you say?

Orik:
I want to grow the reserve by trying to engage people without the need of a large costly war. While our economy could support 25% taxes a large, growing group of citizens will not. Not every President gets to be remembered for doing amazing, great things like weathering a 3v1 war or conquering Spain and making the eUS an empire, because, sometimes, what the people need is a quiet break to gather themselves, their reserves, and their people.

Jaden:
Finally, what makes you the superior candidate in this election?

Orik:
In a short period of time, I've been able to accumulate the experience, personal contacts, and know-how to run this country successfully. It's not been easy and there have been ups and downs and bumps in the road. I've weathered a mass exodus from SHIELD, which, at the time were the only people keeping me playing this game. I am a superior candidate because I want it. I want to be here. I want to play this game. I'm not a Visa-Warrior nor a Cash-Cow with millions of my own. I play this game for it's experiences and the people. Some people have lost sight of that. Not unexpectedly, of course, as they've been playing much longer than I. However, just as they had their shot, I want mine.

Jaden:
Thanks! We're done!

Many thanks to both candidates for agreeing to this interview. Be sure to vote in your party’s primary and in the general election on the 5th! Here are the campaign articles for both candidates, as well as that of Custer!
