Interviews from the American side

Oblige
Supreme Whale Overlord

Please tell us how did you contribute to the victory.

Well I had only a tiny role in the battle. A loan of 3k Q7 tanks to Arm America, another loan of about 385,000 CC when we ran out of cash and there were no CBO officers online, approving emergency spending as SCI, and the small matter of 3,661,955,832 influence. Honestly though, NSC Chair, PoTUS Tyler Buublar, NSC staffer Blande, and especially Secretary of State WildOwl did most of the real work - setting combat orders, arranging for allied support, and running Arm America.

How does it feel, repelling an Argentinian Air Strike? Also with such an epic battle!

It was a personal high for me in a campaign. I don't think I've ever tanked that much before. My old record was only 800 million, so obviously this blew that out of the water by a factor of about 4x. To make matters more difficult I was at work and busy IRL for much of the battle, so I would've liked to contribute more but couldn't. I had more fun playing eRep for this campaign than I've had all year. It reminded me of my decision to attack Aquitaine and the ensuing battle the first day of my first term as President. It was epic.

Did you expect to win? Doubts? 😛

Oh I was all over the place. Fairly confident the first round, devestated the third, disheartened around the ninth, and then a growing surprise and enthusiasm in the tenth and finally elation at the close. It was a real nail biter. Mexico's lack of MPPs with key allies like Poland, Turkey, and Finland made things difficult, but we pulled through in the end on the strength of American tanks, and the good old fashioned American dollar.

Would you like to send thanks or shout-outs to anybody? Or just send a message to the readers?

I'd like to reitate my call outs to Tyler B, John NWP, Blande, and especially Wild Owl (my #1 eSon), but would also add to that list Molly Emma who was one of my fellow CH top 5s, and also generously fronted CC for the government, as well as all our other short term financiers ZDlemmy, Dead girls can't say no, Custo89, and WookyJack. I'd like to congratulate Salsban and Garneo for the spirited defense of their country. As well as to thank our allies in Chile, and Russia for their support. Lastly I'd like to give a big thumbs up to Mexibro itself for fighting the good fight and not rolling over to the Argentine Attack.

The Mike
Co-Chairman of the National Security Council

Please tell us how did you contribute to the victory.

Argentina's intelligence did its job and they attacked at a very unfortunate moment for me as I was flying on a business trip that very night. So, my role was diminished to a passive one. Nevertheless, I was part of the decision-making process, in the preparations for the campaign, in the financing and in other supporting ways during the time I managed to be online. We were aware of the threat of an Argentinian attack for quite a long time - noone could know when it would happen though. Even after their President proposed the law, we weren't sure if we are the real target as the most recent rumors were pointing at Spain for the potential target. Spain, however, would have been quite boring to wipe once again for the Argentinians - who hadn't faced any real opposition for the past three months and counting. Spain, however, doesn't share any border with Mexico. Mexico, however, borders Cuba - a nation, supported by the South American states that we wiped last month as a result of their participation in the 9/11 attacks from Thailand (who actually changed sides since then and are now friends of our friends).

When we decided to take the initiative in our hands and not to let Argentina land, we put the preparations in plan. RWs in the own territories were started in order to prevent Argentina to drain us after the campaign launches. We had planned to start drain RWs for Argentina itself but they were started in equal intervals each prior to the actual attack, so Argentina was able to dodge the eventual drains.

It was a big team of people who coordinated the COs for the campaign; the distribution channel (Arm America) and followed the process. It was my privilege to be part of that team and I feel honored to be Co-Chairman of the National Security Council together with John NWP 🙂

How does it feel, repelling an Argentinian Air Strike? Also with such an epic battle!

This was the most epic battle in eRepublik for 2014. The second most epic was when Russia went to beat Argentina again in another AS earlier in the year. Even the wipe of China was so boring that I wouldn't but only note it as a notable event in the year. But this campaign, that didn't even make it into the final 15th battle, was simply awesome. We were lucky not to face problems with the servers like Hungary did last week when trying to defend their capital against Ukraine.

tl;dr having an epic campaign outside eEurope is awesome!

Did you expect to win? Doubts? 😛

I wasn't sure. I knew we have our chances. It was all in Asteria hands TBH. Argentina did get a lot of support, but they didn't win any of the first two battles in Division 4. We expected them to come strong in the lower divisions, so winning division 4 twice in a row and another division 3 battle later in the forth round was a crucial step for us. Then, around daychange Mexico managed to win A LOT of points back after trailing 13:33. After another five battles, each side had won two consecutive battles and shared the points in the middle one. Argentina barely won any points afterwards in the campaign. The 10th to 12th battles were crucial and Argentina failed to score points in what should be the prime time of their allies Serbia Romania Greece and Hungary - a much more dominant force than Poland, Croatia and Turkey - countries Mexico doesn't even share a MPP with...

Follow the development of the campaign here: http://battle-watcher.com/campaigns/campaign/56427 It is illustrated very nicely!

I was hoping until the very last moment, and I was extremely happy for the win. Experiencing campaigns like this reminds me why I continue playing eRepublik.

There were numerous articles already.
Oblige's article when the campaign was launched played a crucial role in gathering support for our side and increasing the public awereness that something is actually happening in the game now:

Note: I would advise you to go through the article as it is showing some very interesting stats: previous AS attempts of Argentina; distribution of damage per country per division and per alliance. I would love to find out their source!

Tyler Bubblar
President of the United States of America

Please tell us how did you contribute to the victory.

The attack landed the evening of the 14th, I have two NSC Chairs one of them was out of contact that night due to rl. The other had the Internet crash in in half of his town. Due to this limited availability I was up until 5 AM babysitting the battle. I did my best to direct traffic and shout "hit for Mexibro", but mainly I just fed the meter meter so to speak. I I made sure CO money was available, and did my best to match when the other side upped the ante. After waking up I did mostly the the same thing but with with help from WildOwl, DMJ, John NWP, The Mike, Oblige, and more.

How does it feel, repelling an Argentinian Air Strike? Also with such an epic battle!

Argentina is a beast and they rarely ever lose. In fact this is the first AS they have not successfully landed. I'm extremely happy we won!

Did you expect to win? Doubts? 😛

We fell behind early, battled back to tie the battle 33-33, and eventually fell behind 38-61. At that point we felt like it had slipped away, but we then swept the next two rounds. Eventually we were up 70-63, after sweeping that round we just needed 2 points to win for a while it looked like Argentina was going to sweep forcing what would be a decisive final round. After a lot of trepidation and a lot of CO money we pulled away just enough in D4 to close it out. It was thrilling but nerve wracking.

Would you like to send thanks or shout-outs to anybody? Or just send a message to the readers?

There were numerous people who stepped up big for this one. I don't want to name names in the concern that I'd forget someone and slight them. eAmerica stands by her friends. Mexico is one of our closest and long-standing allies. They've been there for us in the past and I think we just proved we will be there for them when they need us. I'm proud of our nation and the statement we just made to the world.

Interview with eMexican MoFA, Bord0 de Clora
ErrOrka

First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions 🙂 I'm sure you're busy these days.

First things first, thanks to all American people for the great support given to Mexico o>
And as I've said before, it's a honor to be interviewed.

Tell us about yourself. Who are you and what do you do for your country?

It needs to be said that I'm from Argentina RL but I have worked several times as Culture Secretary in eMéxico. This is my first time as MoFA, and I am very happy to serve the Mexican people in that position, whom I admire and respect for their iron will and fortitude.
Mexico is my eHome right now, and I'm a proud Mexican citizen, as everyone is in our country.

Did you expect to win the war? 😛

We expected help from Aurora, Pacific and other friends. We also expected particularly a strong American support, but we have to admit that the American performance exceeded our expectations and we are very grateful for that gesture. We'll never forget it! 🙂

Argentina rarely loses battles, they are considered a big force in the eWorld, yet you managed to repel their Air Strike. How do you feel about that?

Argentina is a big monster, and you know that big monsters can't always plan their movements with 100% efficiency 🙂
We celebrate that fail, of course :tequila:

eUSA spent a lot of money, there will be official figures tomorrow. How much money did Mexico burn on this war alone?

I don't know how much money have been officially burned (surely someone with accurate data will comment it below), but I'm sure it was lots of money, not only from government coffers, but from many patriot's personal pockets. It's important to note how much was spent by our other allies and friends, too, and we are very grateful for that.

Picture taken right before our soldiers went to buy supplies.

It took 1.5 billions of influence to reach TOP5. That's insane! Do you think the big spenders decided this war? Or was it the coordination for the most part?

Yes, insane! I also consider really insane that amout of money spent. I don't know who decided this war, but I'm sure that coordination was crucial and effective.

We also saw that Mexico considered this threat so significant that you prepared an Air Strike to ensure you had congress. How do you feel about not having to use that?

Mexico has worked hard to reach an available airstrike, and we know very well how it should be used.
Today we are happy, some drunk and relaxed, but attentive to the international war scenario.

Which other allies did you see fighting for you on the field besides eUSA?

Yesterday we fought together with people of Aurora, Pacific and citizens of other countries who considered the Argentina Air Strike sheer madness.
Despite some stressed moments, I think there was a lot of fun. At the end of the day, it was an epic and unforgettable campaign for Mexico, no doubt.

If you'd like, you can give shout-out's or thanks to anyone you'd like here. Or if you'd like, you can send a message to the readers of this paper. 🙂

To readers of this newspaper and to all Americans, I say on behalf of the government and the Mexican people: thanks for the support, we will never forget. You can always count on us!
