The Ministry of Information for the eCountry of the Netherlands proudly presents:
This is a contest being run by the Ministry of Information to see who is the Mastermind of the Netherlands. It will run throughout the rest of the month of April and continue through the month of May. Bracketing has been completed and groups are listed below:
Bracket Group 1
Broersje (Greek and Roman Classics)
Konnes (Astronomy)
Our Soon-to-Be Good Dictator ElGorro (Palaeontology)
Bracket Group 2
Kaczyk (Medieval History)
Legendardisch (History)
Saksnot (The Southern Netherlands Migration from 1572 - 1630)
Bracket Group 3
Our Good Dictator Garmr (Language Philosophy of the 20th Century)
Spir Tus (Cycling)
Willem the Conqueror (Geology)
Bracket Group 4
Artemlvanov (Dutch politics)
Djirtsdew (Optics)
Gwom (Drumming)
Bracket Group 5
Epix (“RANDOM QUESTIONS FTW!”)
Leo Belgicus (Rumen Microbiology)
Mattio (Dutch Literature from 1830 to Present)
The winners of each bracket group and the four top-scoring non-winners will receive spots in the semifinals. In the semifinals, the nine remaining contenders will be reseeded into three bracket groups based on the previous round’s performance, and the winner of each bracket group (plus the top-scoring non-winner) will play in a four-person final. So basically, we’re going from 15 to 9 to 4 to 1. The prizes:
1st place: 6 Gold and the title of “MASTERMIND”
2nd place: 3 Gold
3rd place: 1 Gold
Over the next few days, we’ll be posting articles showing results of each bracket group. Hopefully, I will be able to find someone to do color commentary on the specialist subject rounds. Anyway, the game will be played over IRC on Rizon channel #mastermind, so be sure to check in there every so often to see what’s going on.
