[Fed] The Interview....Sort of....

Day 2,730, 16:25 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

Running a Media Department is not something I have done a lot of over my eRepublik career. I had a brief stint as SecMed 2 years ago, but other than that I do not have a lot of experience in this area. When approached to take this post I was told that I would be asked to conduct interviews from time to time as part of my media duties. This made me a little nervous as I really did not feel I was qualified to be a deep cover assassin of dictators around the world.

Nevertheless when the Feds call I do not fail to answer. So it was with some trepidation that I began to work on my marksmanship, knife skills, knowledge of toxins, and explosive expertise. After surviving a few minor mishaps along the way I shifted my focus to creating my killer alter ego. Mild mannered reporter Tyler Bubblar must survive as a separate identity if I am to be a prolific “interviewer”. I finally settled on a disguise/persona:

Satisfied that I was ready I set about getting some moving tickets that would take me to North Korea. I was terrified, after all what if word leaked of my intentions and it was traced back to the Feds? Our forums and IRC channels could be hacked by vengeful cyber terrorists forcing us to shutter future editions of Fed media. Fortunately as I was making my way out of Fed Party headquarters I was stopped by Jefferson Locke who asked me how my prep was going for a sit down with Slybabymichele and BigCdizzle to discuss their Party President campaigns. Feeling more than a touch relieved I set aside plans to be an international man of intrigue. After all something terrible could have resulted from this misunderstanding.

Without any further delay I bring you my interviews with Slybabymichele and BigCdizzle:

Diving right in. Tell me about yourself and your history here in the Federalist Party.

Well my name is BigCDizzle, I like pina coladas and getting caught in tbe rain... seriously though I've been a member of the Fed party since February of 2012, and have held every major Fed Cabinet position at least once, including being party president twice. I'm also an eLife long member of Easy Company (excluding a few breaks to command other units) I was a 4 time captain there, and an XO for longer than I can remember. On the national scene I've written for WHPR, I worked as a DoI mentor, was Deputy Secretary of Defense twice, and Secretary if defense once. I love to write in eRep, and have spent way too much time crafting my paper toward a media mogul. I also like long walks on the smell of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.

Well Tyler I have been in the Federalist Party for almost nine months without taking a break. There are very few things that I have not done job wise for the Federalist Party. Media/Recruitment not being my forte, I have chosen stay somewhat away. I have still given my advice for improvements and helped where I could. Being Party President has somewhat dragged me into doing more media articles then I would normally do.

I am currently serving as Fed Party President and Fed congress for the 8th time. In the past I have been Fed VPP, FBI Director, Fed Political deputy, Congressional Whip, FedEx Director, and Fun staffer. Even though I may have stopped officially being in charge a lot of those positions I am still technically still helping in all those fields when called upon. Those were just my Fed jobs.

What is your plan for the Party during the month of May and beyond?

I will be doing my best to get the core members active again and doing my best to keep the people that are new to this game to keep coming back. The Fed can only be as strong as the sum of its active members. Being the Party President is just a figure head of the Party, but the regular members have to move together if we want to move forward.

My plans for the month revolve around activity. The party is dead in the water activity-wise, and we're hemorrhaging members because of it. My number one goal for may is to foster some real community in the Feds. Those of us that are here have lots of fun and are active both in game and on the forums, but it's hard to get more people involved. So for the next month I'm already working with dk about what we're going to do in retention to keep people engaged in the party, and from there on out it will be up to us.

Similar to the first question what is your proudest accomplishment in the Federalist Party up to this point?

To be honest I'm proud of every accomplishment I've had in this party, however if I had to choose just one it would probably be my term as Fed VPP. That was about 2 years ago now, however it was easily one of the greatest turning points for our party. Those of us that were active then did what we had to in order to pull the party from a dying #5 party to being a real political powerhouse. I can't take all the credit for that, because obviously it wouldn't have happened without Malarkey83 and fingerguns. But it was an absolute joy to be able to accomplish that with them.

I will answer these together. I would say my ability to become Party President last month, but my disappointment is that the Fed Forum is not as active as it could be. So I have to ask, could I still have won if I still had the same credentials as I do now and ran for PP a year ago or longer? This election results will probably give me some insight into that question.

What has been your biggest disappointment in the Feds, and what did you learn from it?

See above

By far my biggest disappointment was when EZC split from the Feds. There's no need to rehash old wounds, but for those of us that were stuck in the middle, that time was horrible. I was hated by some for what happened, even though I tried my best to smooth things over. That experience taught me a lot, especially about communication inside a party, and how to foster a real discussion, even when tempers are out of hand. It also taught me the importance of a sincere apology

Both of you have been Party President before how has your time in the big seat helped you prepare to lead the Party for the next month?

This is a good one, because every party presidency is different. Every term has its own unique challeneges, and one can never quite be prepared for them. Luckily in my time in the "captain's chair" almost anything that could go wrong did. We had a full PTO of a top 5 party during one of my terms, the creation of the unity voting proxess in one, and the death of the Unity voting process in the other, as well as a hundred other huge stressful events. Being PP is a challenge, however it's a challenge that I am used to.

Being Party President did not do anything for me personally as preparation to lead. If anything I would hope that it helped others see that I was capable of being the Fed PP, a leader. I can only help the party as much as those that are willing to help. I am not a party of one. All I require is those around me to be as active as I am.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Can you provide us with a picture that sums up your candidacy/platform?

Anything you would like to say or add?

Just that I'm completely excited for the upcoming month even if I don't win. There are going to be great thing happening soon, and if the party is willing to put their faith in me, I will do everything in my power to help this party.

Both me and bigcdizzle are both great candidates, electing either us will be a win for the party. Even being gone for longer than nine months he still continues have strong support, I dare say if he ran for CP he would win, but it will require the people who voted for either of us here in the Fed to be just as active and committed toward the Federalist Party in moving forward and continue to be a strong top five eUSA party.

I thank you for your time and wish you the best of luck in this primary.

I would urge all Feds to visit the Forums take a look around, introduce yourself if you haven’t already, ask the candidates a question, and ultimately vote. The course our Party takes over the next month and beyond is inseparably linked to the votes of its members.
