[Fed] Dunks for Fed PP?

Day 1,967, 15:30 Published in USA USA by Duncan Crowe

The Federalist Party has an awesome habit of encouraging its members to run for political office, and I suppose it's this mentality that got me to run this month. I wasn't sure about running after I lost to Gnilraps, but fingerguns' term really showed me what an awesome, p/h PP is able to accomplish in just a few short weeks. I want to have another chance to prove that to the Feds.

So, I'm going to throw out this campaign article and hope that you guys can see my vision as the future for the Feds. Right now, we have an awesome party and a great staff to keep it running. But, that being said, there are a few aspects of the Feds that I would like to focus on during my term, so that the Feds are constantly improving. Complacency is a killer.

If you don’t have the time to read, just remember, vote Dunks in the Fed Primary on the 10th!

#1 - Focus on Newbs

Newbs are, in my opinion, one of the keys to any sustainable party. While I think the Feds have done well at newb education, it’s something that should always be worked on. We're not perfect and it would be erroneous to think so.

Thus, in my term, I think it's important that I serve not only as PP, but rather as a role model and guide the new Feds to new heights. When the Feds started, they were a very strong meritocracy. I would really love to see this again, and I will work to accomplish this through the training, education, and mentoring of newbs.

To speak specifically, I was glad to see that the “Help and Guides” section of the forum was more active last month. fingerguns’ decision to have an Education Dept. was stellar, and that’s something that I will expand on. I want to be sure that the Feds not only have guides available to them, but also players willing to answer the simple questions that a newb might pose. Once newbs are educated in the ways of eRepublik, it will be much easier for them to rise politically.

As such, I also want to assure that new Feds have the opportunities to rise up within the party and gain responsibility, and with that, respect. So, those Feds. who show promise as new players will be offered positions reflective of that, such as working on a staff in a particular dept., or even as a deputy director. I played around with having junior advisors to debate small matters, and that’s something I will also explore. The Political Dept. will certainly be rigorous and will def. work to find and “raise” talent.

Overall, as I said before, a political party relies on its newbs to keep the party going. Oldfags don’t play forever, and it’s important for the Feds to train the next generation of leaders before the old generation is completely burnt out. Can’t have “xx” leading the party for “y” amount of time. The Feds are more than that.

#2 - Strengthening the Community

The Feds have awesome members, obviously, and the Fed. recruitment dept. will continue to bring in more. But, in strengthening the community, I’m not after numbers, but rather the idea that each and every one of those members enjoys their time spent within the Feds and thus feel inspired to stay and even recruit friends.

I believe that adding some entertaining games and community activities would go a long way within the community, and could do a lot to help us. I love the spam threads and that kind of stuff on the Fed. forum, but I’m sure that we could do a lot more with such an active forum.

For instance, I think that the Feds have lacked fun IRC game nights or even trivia hours for too long. We all need to remember that the best thing about eRepublik is not the game, but instead the players that play it.

So, I will be working towards having an awesome Fed. community during my term, where we all feel that we can have tons of fun and really enjoy ourselves as a cohesive political unit. It should really help us continue to stay #1!

#3 - Military Unit

The Feds had a very thorough discussion process under fingerguns, and I am confident that my term will see this idea through to fruition. It was a difficult discussion process, as we all had various ideas on how to structure an effective MU.

Now that we’ve come to agreement, it will be a focus, for me, to oversee the MU process and make sure that the great discussion we had transitions into a great MU. The structure we build now will set up the MU for either success or failure, and I will be sure that the MU starts well and begins a legacy.

That about concludes my major, party-defining goals. Here are some minor goals to appease the more particular:

Political - Focus on giving jobs to newbs and making sure that the Congressionals run smoothly.

Recruitment - Pass 800 Members with Rigorous Recruitment.

Retention - They need to keep the party entertaining and make sure that we are encouraging our members to get involved.

Media - Keep the Fed. Updates Rolling; Raise eFPR Listening Levels.

FOP - Message the members with relevant updates as frequently as possible.

FBI - Focus on smoothing out the access process and making sure that our forums stay secure.
