[Aries CP] Fork in the Road

I have been in this country for over two years. In that time I have seen van Spijck reign, I watched us struggle against Poland month after month, I watched us eventually sign a treaty and regain some regions, I saw our gov MUs reform into what is DAF, I saw a time of peace for months where we rotated CP, I saw us change our allies from one side to another, I witnessed Hungary take over, I saw more treaties, more CPs, more governments, more political fights, more forums games, more of the same old.
Nothing has changed since I first came to Netherlands over two years ago except this: We have fewer allies with less loyalty. We are still occupied, we are still small, we have little to no political weight, we have no loyal allies, our military power is laughable, we never act, and we still have a pile of money that never seems to be used in an impactful way.
My opponent Fhaemita resembles the status quo. I resemble the revolution. You the voter have a pretty significant election coming up, assuming this dictator stuff doesn’t permanently take over. You can either vote for the same old, or vote for a change. That’s up to you. Many of you are happy with Netherlands sticking with the same old path. Perhaps you enjoy the security of knowing exactly where you stand in the world. Others are asking to take risks and explore new options, in hopes of something better for our country. I think this election will decide which voice is stronger, and which voice will dominate how our country is run for many, many months to come.
My platform will be based around allies and our position in the world. Our country has little merit in the world, and even fewer allies. We really are a low country. My goal will be to secure new allies and throw us into a new beginning. I want us to have real friends, real wars, and actual weight in the world. I want us to be strong.

Status quo? That would be a lie, as our situation has really changed over the last years/months. Instead of a more desirable status quo we are in an everlasting and cascading roller-coaster ride determined to hit the ground soon but tortuously extended the process.

Unfortunately, only two of those things are really possible unless there's a way we can get a guaranteed babyboom next month - and as far as I know, a CP sadly doesn't have a button to push for that to happen. 🙁
If you manage to achieve a Babyboom on your own and run for CP the next month, you're virtually guaranteed to become our next CP.
So it's more or less the other way around.
I'm looking forward to your next article. Because I see a lot of promises, but no clear path to achieve them.
Also, I don't like the term "forum games". There's no such thing. The forum is typically THE place to debate on issues. If important things happen on the forum, they should be discussed in-game as well. But for the whole discussion the forum remains the best place.
Still you do see the apparent lack of interest in the forums, as that was one of your prime reasons for posting that lasted article. Is it really that far-stretched to dub the politics that are being played on a platform that isn't universally carried by the society a ''forum game''?
I wouldn't use the term ''forum game'' myself easily, but I can certainly rationalize why some individuals call it that way. The forum has occasionally been an alternate reality of the in-game Netherlands, instead of a mere supporting platform for the society. For example, the ''forum congress'' we had a few years ago. And the fact that during that same period the GPN clique ''boycotted'' the forums made it not representative of the society, either (but that'd be a self fulfilling prophecy that way).
But really, there are ''forum games'' and it's our task as (active) members of the society to keep these games open and accessible for everyone. Right now the situation in that regard isn't that bad.
Calling it "forum games" makes it more likely that new people just ignore the forum. The term itself is great propaganda to avoid the forum and just stick to the in-game games.
And as you say, the situation atm isn't that bad. I hope that that's true and that people still have confidence that our in-game elected congress matters, even though they have only forum power.
I'd rather we get more active new players interested in the game part of the game before they feel obligated to come on the forum. The forum is a simply extension that we have created ourselves, but it is not necessary to play.
