Plato finally got around to removing dead newspaper subscribers from everyone's subscription list. Good. I love it. Your current subscriber tally now more accurately reflects your level of publishing activity.
Now if they would fix the ranking system so that we can see more than just the top 5, we'd be able to see exactly where we stand in relation to other newspapers. I hope they will implement a paging system like how the Marketplace works so you can page down and see your rank among peers. 16 Shells is currently ranked 28th and I'd love to know who is 27th.
I'd also like to see Admin implement a few additional improvements to the Media Module, especially now that they have adjusted the subscription rates to more accurately reflect actual activity.

Tops on my list would be the opportunity to buy into a second or third newspaper. I've sent this idea to Admin twice already with no response, so I'm obviously totally dreaming here. But I'd like to be able to develop more than one brand or trademark within the Media Module. I'd love to run one paper entirely devoted to Politics, another entirely devoted to Lulz, and another for commentary on current events. I know people who would love to be able to run one newspaper in one Nation and have another Paper for publishing in a different country/language. I mean, a true Media Mogul should run more than one Newspaper.
At one time you could operate more than one Newspaper. Every org you started had a Newspaper as an option. But you can no longer start an org. If you have an org, you can no longer use it to start a Newspaper. And if you have an org that has a Newspaper, all of the BBC Editor tools have been removed, most of the useful navigation links are gone, and so running an Org newspaper is a pain in the ass. You have no idea how irritating it is for DoD to keep that paper up to the minute. The org is dead, and along with it is the notion of being able to run a second Newspaper. (That being said, if there is anyone out there with an org they don't use anymore, and if that org has a newspaper, I would love to have it.)
Plato should jump at the chance to take my Gold in exchange for a second Newspaper. I can run 39 companies if I want, why not 5 Newspapers? To avoid abuse, make me reach 1000 subscribers on my first newspaper before unlocking the ability to purchase my second newspaper. Please, Plato! Take my Gold!!!
Another thing we've learned from the recent subscriber sweep is just exactly how dead or alive the Media Module really is. The fact is, with only 755 subscribers, I am the 28th largest paper in the eUS. Even more bleakly, the WHPR is the fifth largest paper with only 1274 subscribers. And ready for this? Of the top 5 newspapers, two of them are INCI, and one was published by a now-dead Citizen. Yes, only DoD and WHPR are English-language top-5 papers in eUSA.
As Secretary of Media, as a Congressman, and as a Publisher, I am committed to doing what I can to stimulate National activity in the Media. From a Player-Retention standpoint, Media has a lot to offer, but it is a culture that has to be developed. Consider this: the newspaper articles mentioned in the National Pony Express pick up, by estimate, 8 votes each. 8 votes is pathetic. It means probably only about 15-20 of you are even clicking the Pony Express links. I don't know, maybe I am beating a dead horse.

I just hope that horse isn't me.
