What does 'Do Something' mean anyway?

Salaams/ Hey to All,

I was glad to see a decent level of comments (the overwhelming majority being positive!) on my previous article, it is good to know that the eCommunity exists and is just waiting for a chance to come alive.

This article wasn't actually planned but a comment by Kualkerr bhai was enough to motivate me in addressing the issue immediately.

It is true that we use the terms 'do something', 'be active' a lot and too vaguely in context.

So let's get specific. What can YOU do??

1) Find your Niche

What aspect of the game (besides the daily bashing of some random enemy) do you enjoy best?

Is it the economical aspect; buying and selling, making a profit etc?

Or is it the internal or external political aspect; trying your hand at governing, making policies so and so?

Maybe it is the societal aspect; meeting new people from different countries and cultures?

Whatever it is. Whatever interests you, find it. And then share it! It's as simple as that.

You think you have an idea about what the Tax policy should be like? Write an article; be concise, give your point of view, ask for feedback.

It doesn't take a congressman or govt official to give opinions. You are no sheep. So speak up!

2) Make Friends

Seems relatively simple. Why? Because it is!

This game revolves around relationships above all. Making friends, contacts, eRealtions is all part of the game!

Don't limit yourself by staying in one community, join IRC and meet people around the world.

Ask about how the Romanian officials run the govt.

Or find out the ways it is possible to organise an MU.

Nothing is out of your reach. You don't need your Party President's, Commander's or even Country President's permission to go out and gain knowledge.
SO DO IT.

3) Ask the Oldies

Old citizens are many, they just tend to be reclusive and grumpy but they're all willing to help out!

Grab one and interrogate the heck out of him/her! Find out about his/her version of the 'truth' and then move on.

The stories here are countless, interesting and filled with trolling and political subterfuge. 😛

They just need you to prod them a little.

4) Participate

This point is a culmination of all the other three.

The first three ask you to write/ contribute/ share your opinions on whatever the topic. This last point asks you to acknowledge the work of other citizens.

Give your opinion on whatever the topic, show that there effort hasn't gone wasted.

This is the circle we need to establish. One of give and take. No matter our political differences (which, let's face it, are inevitable), not matter our varied opinions.

Express them politely, express them logically. That is all!

I hope this article explained to some extent all the many things you can do to contribute... without power or authority.

I know it's kind of hard to start writing articles, most of us just can't be bothered but it is one of the best ways to participate in your country. 🙂

So don't forget: we're all equals; some of us just get more buttons to use, that's all.

Yours,
Sparky
