Wargame Costs [SOL v PEACE]
Sean Power
There seems to be an ideological bias in some peoples attitude towards which wargames we join in the future so I just wanted to point out the costs.
Initial Cost (including first 7 battles)
PEACE wargames = 90 gold
SOL wargames = 127 gold (107 if cost of MPP is shared equally)
Cost of 7 Battles
PEACE wargames = 30 gold
SOL wargames
= 77 gold (current participants + eIreland)
= 64 gold (if eIreland + 1 other country join)
= 55 gold (if eIreland + 2 other countries join)
= 48 gold (if eIreland + 3 other countries join)
= 43 gold (if eIreland + 4 other countries join)
= 38.5 g (if eIreland + 5 other countries join)
= 35 gold (if eIreland + 6 other countries join)
We would need 9 countries including ourselves to join for the SOL option to be as cheap as the PEACE option.
How much more expensive are the SOL wargames?
current participants + eIreland = 156% more expensive than PEACE wargames
if eIreland + 1 other country join = 113% more expensive
if eIreland + 2 other countries join = 83% more expensive
if eIreland + 3 other countries join = 60% more expensive
if eIreland + 4 other countries join = 43% more expensive
if eIreland + 5 other countries join = 28% more expensive
if eIreland + 6 other countries join = 15% more expensive
For those worried about the impact of joining PEACE wargames listen to what your MoFA said here and shown below- http://e-ireland.isgreat.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=100
"But what does this mean for our neutrality?
Absolutely nothing. We have not Joined PEACE. We are merely thinking about joining their wargames and I will assure the Americans that we are firmly neutral and have no lenience toward PEACE what so ever"
Figures are based on those provided in the public domain by MoFA

Due to the current circumstances, Neutral War Games > Cheap War Games
I agree with theus.
And I have also Pledged to pay 10 gold toward the cost. And I have a friend of mine that has pledged 20.
Saftey before cost here.
Lets stop ridiculously arguing over gold when that is not important in this case.
That's a very valid personal opinion. I would personally prefer wargames with neutral countries but above a certain cost difference I swing to the pragmatic option.
I released this as I felt the figures were not portraying the cost situation as it really is. If you would pay any cost to engage in wargames with neutral countries that's a legitmate option but not one for me.
The possibility of paying twice the price per 7 battles doesn't really appeal to me....
Bryan I'm not arguing ridiculously.... I feel I'm being quite rational in my argument....
Sean, there is no huge difference.
The difference could be at most 30 gold, which I will bloody pay myself if it means staying our of the PEACE games.
WE are not that badly off, and should dish out the extra few gold to ensure our neutrality and safety. I have nothing further to add.
I disagree, you accept the difference could be up to 30 gold. That would be a 100% increase on the cost of the PEACE wargames.... or put another way DOUBLE the price.
Furthermore this price difference applies every 7 battles.... are you willing to cover the difference for every set of battles? If so I'm absolutely all for the SOL games 🙂
SAFETY: I was lead to believe (by you) our Non-Agression Pact was ensuring our protection from bordering PEACE countries. Safety should not be a factor in deciding our wargames for the next 60 days right?
Neutrality: We engaged in wargames with eUSA and their Atlantis allies not so long ago. No one at that point felt we were not staying neutral..... so why should wargames with PEACE be any different.

Rubbish, more and more nations will be joining, thus, lowering the cost.

We are in a bloody world war sean, clearly you fail to understand how delicate our relations with PEACE are. The very fact we pushed them to sign NAP's with us shows a lack of trust. These are uncertain times Sean, and in times like this, Safety IS more important than cost.
Saftey?
PEACE have absolutely no reason or need to attack us.
If you want to repair that lack of trust from the NAPs,then why not join their wargames to show our trust?
And is it or me or is our Minister of Foreign Affairs not really being neutral by offering to personally pay costs himself to avoid games with PEACE?
Your totally exaggerating this threat, you have PEACE as these big dirty imperialists.
They wouldn't attack us because it's of no gain to them.
It's just more people to fight in the World War,our regions are nothing to them.
PEACE Wargames aren't going to infringe our neutrality or safety. They also happen to me much cheaper and if anything I would expect countries to be joining their games rather than the Sol wargames.
So no,it isn't Safety v Cost,it never really has been,it's just people who dislike PEACE against people who see the real picture.
Agreed TG, well said - the final decision should be based on economics
How about a dail vote?
If they wanted to attack us they could, whether we are involved with them or not, they even share borders with us now, so what difference does it make ? We dont even have anything that they want.
By failing to support the US and Canada at the start of this war we are have left our old allies behind so it may even be a good thing to get 'chummy' with PEACE while maintaining neutrality.
I think people worry too much about PEACE. We exist because they dont feel like taking us out, and that is the unfortunate reality of the situation, now or at any time in the foreseeable future really.
I would opt for the option that is more economical to Ireland in the long term, and I think others should do the same. If the neutral wargames really take off and the cost becomes nearly parity then let's reconsider at that stage, but that may never happen.
