December 15- January 13: Christmas Market

Get in the Christmas mood by taking a stroll on Yerevan’s Northern Avenue. Get your season’s shopping done with handmade toy and souvenir booths in one spot. Even if you’re just window shopping, the Christmas Market is a great way to window shop while sipping hot chocolate.



May: Sheep Shearing Festival

In a first week of May in Syunik region Sheep Shearing festival is held. Lots of local food, national dances and songs, sheep shearing competitions, crafts and weaving next to the world’s longest aerial tramway called Wings of Tatev.



May: National Clothing Festival

Discover the fashion, style, and trend of ancient Armenia and other minorities living in Armenia. While current culture does not embrace the «taraz» (national costume) anymore, it was widely popular in history. Visit the celebration to learn about the role of fashion in everyday life. This celebration begins with an opening ceremony and a display of a few costumes.

June 12: Bread in the Mountains

Festival of traditional and holiday dishes revealed from ancient Armenian recipes. One can find also traditional dishes of ethnic minorities of Armenia. National songs, dances and performances are inseparable part of the event.

June: Arts and Crafts Festival

Each year Arts and Crafts Festival held in Gyumri- second largest town in Armenia. The town is famous for its blacksmiths, carpet weavers, jewelers, sculptors and painters. Incredible handicrafts, live performances and firework at the end of the festival will make your day.



July: Golden Apricot International Film Festival

This weeklong event has become an annual source of worldwide attention. Over the past 10 years, this international film festival has had 75 countries submit over 500 films. The event has multiple categories for directors, in which both Armenian and international directors can participate, including documentaries, short film, and fiction. Another great opportunity to watch the best movies in original languages only for 1USD.



July 16: Tolma Festival

Food lovers, behold! Armenia’s leading restaurants and individuals from Yerevan and the surrounding regions are taking part in this annual festival. Participants prepare traditional tolma with their own recipe. Three winners are chosen based on best taste, best appearance, and best idea. Tolma is one of the favorite Armenian meat dishes.



August 11: Navasard

In the pre-Christian Armenian calendar, New Year or Navasard was celebrated on August 11th. The festival is a celebratory holiday filled with dances, music, and athletic competitions. The event is full of traditional food freshly made in a ground oven so being hungry is must.

August: Shamshadin Honey and Berry Festival

Spend the day tasting an assortment of berries, honeys, and drinks. Sixteen villages in the area come together to arrange dance and musical performances for the guests. Key chains, jams, honey, and other snacks are available to take home as souvenirs.

September: Barbecue Festival

Heaven for barbecue lovers. Everything that can be grilled or prepared on fire you can find here. The festival is accompanied with national, modern music as well as games and competitions.

October: Highfest

The HighFest festival attempts to showcase and expand performing arts, specifically theater. In the past, up to thirty different countries have taken part in the festival.

October: Areni Wine Festival

At the fest one of the attractions is a wine producers’ competition with professional degustation and open air market with local wines and homemade food. Varieties of traditional activities keep everyone entertained for the whole day. Enjoy a wine tasting while listening to national music, play games with the entire family, get to know local artists in an exhibition.



October: ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival

The nearly week-long festival is generally not a competition because animated short films are still a new concept. Film showings range from free to 1000 drams. Classes for animators and a children’s program are also available.

November: KIN International Film Festival

The “Kin” or Women’s Film Festival is an international film festival that promotes creativity among women and set up an international network for collaboration. Some of the themes in the films address social problems that exist worldwide, such as domestic violence and women’s rights. For those viewers who do not speak multiple languages, not to worry – the competition requires all films to have English subtitles. The contest is open to women film directors and films must be less than 40 minutes.
